Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience driving on the open road during the lockdown period (specially the south island). What was it like? Did you run into any trouble?

Asking for a friend.

There were Coppers out at check points over Easter.

They caught enough to make it worth threatening to be out for Anzac weekend (haven't seen any reports yet).

The Highway Patrol will be out there cruising.

I figure they WILL stop a bike if they see one.

At least until level 2...

I'm supposed to do Chch - Hanmer and return for work this week.

Wonder how many of the Blue Gang I will find out there.

(I'm expecting 'no interest' in a white sign-written double cab ute)

I had an appropriately socially distanced meeting this morning, with a gentleman that had to travel over 200km to view & discuss essential business (heavy transport industry)
He had documents to prove his reason for travel & got pulled up between cities & asked the purpose of his travels.

From the workshop I can hear - but not see - Bikes coming through the village. Presumably heading for the Rakaia gorge and points south on the inland road.

More of them than I'd think there should be. Thinking the inland road won't be policed.

I'd point out that the fatal in Glentunnel a couple of nights back was a gang member going somewhere he shouldn't have been on that road after dark.
I'd also assume the inland road is monitored now as a direct result of that.

Let me know how it goes

Did the Hamner job yesterday.

Outside of Christchurch there was little traffic on SH1 and virtually nothing on SH7.

Four Coppers out there - including one Highway Patrol on SH7 between Waipara and Wakari.

Saw a grand total of three bikes, all on the way home - looked like they were comunters from Chch.

A bike on the open road would definatly be sitting duck for being pulled over.

And just for F5 Dave...

I love a man in uniform. Well except a ticket wielding cop.

[add something funny here when I think of it. . Hmm maybe something homoerrotic about legomen clipping together]

Scared yet?

Bit worried myself to be Frank.

And Frank's a whistle blowing Raver.

[There we go].

Thanks,

But you're not my type.

You've got the wrong bits.

Keep your studs to yourself...
