As you may know, I live in combat boots, day in day out, use them for anything and everything.

Current pair is Paraflex NZ Army issue.

Three months in, and the outer sole is peeling.

I've tried a couple of good contact adhesives, no good, and the sole is still coming off...

What the (expletive deleted) works to stick the sole back on?

...take it to a mall with a boot repair...they generally know what they are doing...no glue or self applied bonding agent will do it in situ...believe me...

Find a shoe repair shop ... there are still a few around ...

There are still a few pairs available on Trademe I see. A few years back, I got a pair of the old Screwed sole type for bugger all.

When I got out of the army, I had six pairs of them. All got worn out. They were my regular work boots ... until steel toecaps were required.

Buy some mongrel boots off trademe. Made in oz and super comfortable. I wear them exclusively at work and get 18 months to 2 years out of them, hard use with no care. Recommend!

Right ho,

Experts say "Nah, Perished, Can't be fixed mate!".

So I'm having one last attempt. Selley's All Clear or bust I reccon.

Cheap boots out of TardMe are all very well - but I prefer mine to last a bit longer than that (3 months and a bit)

Good luck ...

Might work ...

3 months ... THAT long ... you were on a winner there ... especially with regular and constant use. In the Army ... I went through at least four pairs a year.

As a "Last ???" resort ... try a professional repairer. A Mr Minute (at most malls) might do it.

Stuff that goes on my feet ... I prefer to be good quality.

You can get quantity with cheap ... sometimes works out the same.

Sometimes ...

Carpet tacks worked for me, when I couldn’t afford new boots.
this may happen again if I am not careful.

now buy better quality ones, cost a lot more but last 2 to 3 years+ Sometime 5 years, constant everyday use.
just not in a cow paddock. I am not that hard on gear.

slip on work boots have been banned in a number of places.

which reminds me I need to get a new pair of safety gum boots.
Currently have Blundstone gummies, SEAM to be LASTing. Next year isn’t all that far away.:innocent:

there was a guy at school, all he wanted was to join the army.
he had the hair cut and the full lace up boots. He never walked anywhere, just marched.
i do wonder how he went.....

i dont think his his name was FJ......

No ... it wasn't FJ. Army was spur of the moment (it seemed like a good idea at the time) type decision ...

I now wear the steel toecap gumboots for my work. Provided and free. Bata boots ... replaced as and when required ... no questions asked. I love it when that happens ...

What size feet do you have ... ??? :innocent:

I supply my own boots - that way I get to choose what I wear.

Sounds fair to me. My boots tend to get leaks .... such is life on a Salmon farm ...

I've never spent so much time in Gumboots before. and ... All said and done ... free ... and replaced on request ... works for me.

I think I had Bata ones years ago, never seemed to wear out, my feet just bigger.

i got skellerup? ones quite a while ago, looked good but disintegrated just sitting in a dry cupboard.:( Only a year old, almost never used.
comfortable they was.

If your wearing them day in and out you want comfortable.

normal boots imho:
blundstone hard wearing soles very stiff hard on joints
oliver nice flexible comfortable
mammoet made by bata with gortex better than oliver. Gortex was good as I was often in the rain during the time I wore these.

currently have John Bull with Boa fastener the best so far. Just got to watch.
not waterproof as has fabric tongue- no problem don’t walk in deep puddles
the dog likes them for munchies, put them out of reach
boa fastener for anyone who has laces that continually break.

The farm I work on actually floats ... steel grating walkways. The boots dont get worn out ... just get leaks. All sorts of shit on the walkways ... it happens.

Then I get new ones. Free.

I wear them with 2 pair of socks. More comfortable.

All said and done ... works for me ...

Trooper steel caps and two pair of socks are my go to footwear. Put a patch where the gear lever rubs'

I have a new pair of Army issue boots ,considering using them on the bike.

I have two pairs of Sidis and a pair of Garnes' (spelling)that are all pretty fucked now.
Most of the problems are they are worn down to the toes on outer edges, from older production bike racing. lol.
Anyway the new army jobbies are comfy and should suit with the type of ridin I do in old age ?

I used to use them myself for the same thing. Easy to walk (and push a bike) if required. Some water proofing can be achieved with Sno seal.

Most shoe shops will sell a Bee's wax variety of the stuff. It works on leather clothing too.

$85 Chinese boots that only last 3 months

You get what you pay for

Maybe you didn't get many other options.

if you ever see Carhartt boots (or anything else with the Carhartt brand on it) you can be confident you will get quality.

Four pair a year = a new pair every three months

Soles de-laminating and being unable to repair.

That is not 'Fit For Purpose' in my book.

Therefore the Paraflex Combat Boot is a steaming pile of doggie do - and should be avoided.

So what new boots next? Germany Army or Keen Winter?

Ha! Maybe I spoke too soon.

Selley's Durabond for the win :)

They have survived two day's heavy duty in temps only marginally above zero.

(I really don't want to have to biff these boots.)
