Here's a (more desirable) sedan, same colour, current listing $21k

A couple of friends and I had an HQ 202 back in the mid 90's, on a midnight run to McD Craig crashed it and wrote it off. The next day we bought another with a 253, 5 spot mags, mint body for $500 out of the buy sell.

For me it was our boat tow vehicle, an XW Falcon S/wagon. Hence my soft spot for the XW/XY 'coons.

Hard to believe an HQ getting to this age and mileage without having had rust repairs! They were no exception to all the other rustbuckets of this era. Part of the reason they are desirable now cos they didn't last that well. Not knocking holdens as I had my share of them too over the years but nothing from this era was rustfree.

So it was more than 10 yrs old before it rusted out? Sounds about right
I got $400 as a trade for my HQ on an XB GT replica. HQ +$4200:scratch:

I never paid more than about $8/900 for one back in my youth, and I had a few. Hell... I recall swapping a bag of weed and a leather trenchcoat for one.
Wish I'd kept them all now

That's awesome. There's a page on facebook about the exploits of a crew of guys who ran Falcons here in the early 80's I'm guessing. You might even know them, it seems the ventured down south a bit.

I had hqs in the day but this is just stupid , My pick is the sale will fall trough and will be Back on tm to try again . or maybe you could tow around a $34000 purple kawasaki triple !. I saw an old anvil "sell "the other week for $1500 . The going price for a absolutely mint one would be $1200 but this was the worst one I had ever seen with the back cut off and some shit welded to it very badly. I would have thought it was worth $150-200. Gee what a surprise when it turned back up on TM a week later

The short lived HQ racing idea cleaned out a lot of them.

Lots of Canterbury 'coons headed down here 10 or so years ago, young guys would do a booze cruise north to Christchurch and score soem fairly original ones - and they're still on the road albeit with more power, fancier wheels and more glossy paint.
And reselling for $40,000+

...I ran HT's, HG's, HQ's, HJ's and HZ's for years...didn't know anything about other brands...a bit like an old Louisiana driller I worked with many years ago...swore he didn't think white girls had pussies until he was 18...
...I always threw a 1 Ton, 4 speed box in every one I ever owned...always had two boxes hanging around waiting...
...as they fell apart, rusted, got pranged or reached their demise, usually through body or suspension shit the engine was removed...always seemed to have three to four ready to run motors to throw in the next one that turned up...I had a 186 a 179 and a 149 motor that any one of, would go into the fucked 202 powered body I'd just got cheap...I had a heap of dead 202 engines, mostly fucked around no 5 piston...
...I have warm feelings toward them but that was history...dunno if I'd wanna go there again...I would love my HZ Ute with the LD28 and four speed box back in my life...
...I could do an engine change when I owned a Hiab, in a couple of hours with the help of one of my kids...easier times...

A while ago, there was debate as to what the Plural of Bogans should be, Eventually it was decided that 'A Horde of Bogans' was correct, however the runner up was:
"A Holden of Bogans, or more specifically - a Kingswood of Bogans"

never really much of a Holden fan.
apart from the Monaro.....
however if you ever get the chance National Holden Motor Museum, Echuca, Ozzie.

well worth the effort to get there.

TM 2654213216 If someone pays 20k for this I would be surprised. but I am starting to realize that I am the one out of touch with reality. Who would ask 60k for any vehicle and present it like this without even cleaning it and maybe taking it somewhere of some good photos.

If it's a real WB and not just a nose cone, they're worth a bit more than other models. But that one being so hacked up, I cant see it getting more than $15k.
As you say though, we're likely wrong and some tard will buy it.

They were gone years back, that though is a new level of madness more so when as you say theres a sedan listed at $21k,still be madness to me but could sort of understand if the sw was a real tidy old girl,as for rust the thing will be full of it which makes the current bids seem more than a bit strange, still each to there own i guess.Always had Falcons though moons ago whilst owning an XYGS bought an ex forestry HQ sedan in that orrible green  for a hack, left the thing in a ditch down Gore way.Be interesting to see where that auction ends up but no matter what 70k for a poo brown 6 cylinder HQ wagon in average condition with plenty to spend is strange.

Oh but the patina! Which I believe is another word for fucked paint and corroded alloy.
Gezzuz that brown is ugly and it's a friggin station wagon.
Dad had a new V8 Monaro that he ordered with a Kingswood body (family to panda to). Got front springs cut a turn off at the factory so it didn't drive down the road like a shark. Gee imagine trying to do that now. Still had to wait for it from Aussie.
Cant imagine wanting one, but some people aren't motorcycle enthusiasts I understand.
Well clearly I don't understand, but I've heard it.
I think its repressed.
Mentally calculating the bikes I could buy with that sort of coin. . . .

Well - its a wagon... Most wagon tail gates died early so its rare...
And its pooh brown.... with patina... OMG - a guy with a man bun died when I said that
and so it trendy...
Wait 3 years - the price will drop...

To be fair, Unless the other person is driving an Artic Truck, another Kingswood or an LAV, chances are that all you'll need to do is straighten the bumper, give it a splash of paint and a polish and she'll be right, Mate*.

Meh, the front suspension in my hot rod pickup truck came from a HZ Holden that had been hit on the rear passenger door. Roof and rear pillar were buckles so off to the knackers yard with it.

Run a magnet over it and see how much filler is in it.
In their day ... if no rust was seen and it looked straight ... the WOF was no issue.
A mate of mine died in a 50 km/hr accident (Invercargill I think) ... he hit a power pole. One of the wooden ones. Bog (and lots of it) in all the wrong places.
It left the scene on the flatbed ... in about four separate pieces.
He had done the bog job himself.

It wont have been the first Holden part to be fitted to a Hot rod. Nor the last.
Holden's contribution to the Hot Rod community has been underrated. And seldom acknowledged. By Holden especially (that I am aware of).

Out of curiosity ... what would be the expected premiums for a $70,000 car. Regardless of make. And for a car that was out of production for at least 30 years ... common body parts are now not that common ... or even available .. ???

Ho Ho the plot thickens - the $71300 bid has gone - in fact a whole bunch of bids have gone because it is (as of right now (1pm 2 July) $41200.
Still too expensive for a $3000 car but not "coke-addled fuckwit" outlandish.

Over 2000 watchers which goes to show that an awful lot of people click watch to see what happens rather than actually mean to place a bid.
I wonder how much it would actually go for once the dust settled and the joke bids are weeded out.
Wonder how upset he is if he was mentally spending the money.
Maybe I should click watch?
