So Trump sends a mob to break into the Capitol, and while that's going on, Giuliani is calling Republican senators to get them to object to election results!

It's not hard to see why some Republican politicians have gone off Trump.

That was several days ago. Since then I've heard lawyers in the US discussing the call and they felt it would be evidence of conspiracy.

The Senator Tuberville that Rudy thought he was ringing is new and when asked recently, he couldn't even name the three parts of government in the US.
He was a previously school football coach but not one who enjoyed notable success. He is white though and in Alabama that's enough.

Here's the call.

The republicans will be caught in a pickle.
If they don't get rid of trump they will lose next time
If they dump him he might run as an independent and take away vote from them next election and subsequent ones until he dies.
If they want to win elections in the future they can only impeach him, then do the vote to prevent him from ever running for any public office again it needs the 2/3 senate to impeach him but only the majority to prevent him ever running for office again.

Btw the secret service detail post presidency is not about "protecting" the president. It's so the deep state can monitor their Comms and who they meet with so no secrets get out.
If anyone was gonna take out trump would have happened long ago, he was a man who happily walked among the people if you look at his rallies, the huge numbers making proper security implausible.

I think Trump will decline the detail anyway, it will be to restrictive on his business dealings

Trump applied for, and was granted, security before he was entitled to it. He was given a security detail and they accompanied him throughout the 2016 election campaign. When he was elected he presented the Government with a bill for a million dollars for having the security detail on his private jet.

Since he was elected he has reportedly charged the government over a million dollars for golf cart use by his security detail. He has (over)charged for their accommodation at Mar a Largo and his other golf courses. He reportedly charges the tax payer for a whole floor for security in one of his towers. He's not going to let all of that go. Unless he's impeached...

Lovely little clip on Twitter. One of the insurgents who was inside the Capitol building turned uo at the airport to fly home but was informed that he was now on the "No fly" list. He is distraught and crying to every one about being listed as a terrorist.

What was it they said when Trump won? "Fuck your feelings!"

It was a special arrangement. Normally only the official R and D presidential and VP candidates get security. While there were still multiple R candidates one of Trump's angry tweets got an angry response, so he asked for protection. We now know it wasn't about protection, it was about the million dollars.

Other than that various reporters and politicians have continually been all over his excessive charges. Some of which are currently under investigation.

With everything this ugly man has wrought, all "his people" he's thrown under the bus (including his own VP), the cries of "not enough time to bring him to justice", "impeachment or 25th Amendment won't achieve anything", "Biden's team doesn't want the extra sideshow of dealing with impeachment at the start of his administration", "either option is a gift to Trump's base by making him a martyr for his cause" blah blah blah blah blah. People are demanding that this awful awful man is held accountable, but it looks likely that yet again he'll get off pretty much scot-free by the few people who could make it happen (here's looking at you Pence and McConnell) basically just letting the clock tick down.

lol

"It has become clear that conducting the PGA Championship at Trump Bedminister would be detrimental to the PGA of America brand and would put at risk the PGA's ability to deliver on many programs and sustain the longevity of our mission.''
The events of Jan. 6, in which pro-Trump protesters stormed the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., pushed the organization to move to another venue with just more than 15 months until that championship is scheduled to be played on May 19-22, 2022.

the trumps organization's response is rather interesting.

A spokesperson for The Trump Organization told ABC news that they are "incredibly disappointed" with the decision.
"This is a breach of a binding contract and they have no right to terminate the agreement," the spokesperson said. "As an organization we have invested many, many millions of dollars in the 2022 PGA Championship at Trump National Golf Club, Bedminster.

I say this considering how the reason they have lost the PGA's support s is because trump ignored the presidential oath.

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

To uphold the constitution, first you must have read it....Demonstrably he never has.
I still think that when the dust settles on his taxes and the source of his financing, he'll be shown to have been in breach of the emoluments clause from day one...

ATM it looks like the house will present and pass inpeachment under urgency - I can't see Pense invoking the 25th amendment. Hang Pense as a chant may have been too much for him, LOL.
But they don't have to pass it to the Senate untill they feel like it. They are talking about giving Biden 100 days to get sorted before going after Trump

It is apparently possible to impeach an ex president. Which then among other things stops them from standing for elected office again.

On another note, someone on talkback today suggested the US have an annual "Storming of the Capitol" day - like Guy Fawkes.
On which Trump shall be burned in effigy.
Sounded like a good idea for a pissup so I suggested it on a US based forum. A few liked it. We'll see if it's adopted, LOL.

Trump will be seriously pissed off about that. He had previously instructed the US Ambassador to Britain to approach the British government about moving the British Open, from wherever it was scheduled to be held, to his course at Turnberry. They declined.

There's always a grift. Prestwick Airport near Glasgow is losing money and closure is a possibility. Prestwick is the closest airport to Turnberry, if Prestwick closed Turnberry would be a long way from an airport. So Trump has had the USAF routing through Prestwick (with the crews staying at Turnberry of course). This has reportedly cost the Yank tax payer millions, because the fuel at Prestwick is considerably more expensive than the US bases they'd normally use.

Interesting that republicans who have decried the president's actions and openly said he is guilty of the accusations he's facing, but they don't want the 25th invoked or for him to be impeached. On the one hand they say "he needs to be held accountable" yet none have provided any suggestions as to how that could happen. Other than a slap on the wrist and "don't be a naughty boy again". Yeah, like that's worked out great over the last few years.
Interesting too to watch how many loyalists (Rubio, Cruz etc.) totally ripped into trump in 2015 when they were vying against him as a presidential candidate, calling out his amoral character, continual and unabashed lying, racist and xenophobic characteristics, but look at them now baby - they're kissing his orange ass and sucking up to his rent-a-mob base for all they're worth.

A Wild DemonLord Appears!

Contrary to popular belief, occasionally (and I try not to make it a habit) I have to work very hard. My company was recently bought out by new Corporate overlords and I've spent the last Month (yes, over the Christmas period) re-writing a bunch of stuff in order to meet Deadlines (which, I'm pleased to say, I did, with 2 hours to spare)

As a result, I'm not really up to speed - I see there's been some references to me (and Husa - you do realise that I have KB saved as a tab on my Browser, so when I restart or refresh all my tabs - it will show me as visiting the page?).

Here's where I'm at.

It appears Joe Biden has been officially confirmed as the next president. So from that point of view, I was wrong.

But the real question is do I believe he won legitimately? Short answer - No.

Many of my fans will want to gloat with glee over that - with cries of 'Cope' and 'Conspiracy' and 'Magat' and alike.

And I'll grant you all of the above (and whatever else you deem) - I'll admit that I don't have the conclusive proof that would meet the threshold in a court of law. From a pure numbers point of view however, there are too many unprecedented occurrences with Joe's election.

The machinery of power is moving exactly as one would expect should that be the case - get Joe in as quick as possible - Gloss over any queries and then when a sufficient amount of time has passed, maybe hold an enquiry (by then a lot of time-sensitive will either have expired or be destroyed).

And although I've yet to fully look at the riots, The usual suspects who stood in front of burning buildings, attended a cessation attempt where 7? people where killed and proudly proclaimed that it was like a Summer of Love and mostly peaceful are calling a single protest an insurrection attempt.

Add to that the Purging off of social media all of the Juden, I mean 'Undesirables', I mean Unpersons - That is only going to galvanize the opposition.

This is the kind of double-standard and 'Swamp-like' behaviour that will give nearly 50% of the population (who also happen to be the most heavily armed part of the population) a cause to rebel.

Then we have to accept that the idea of violently overthrowing a Government is baked into the Constitution and the Founding fathers were explicit: "the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants".

That said, I've seen a couple of things from Joe that gives me a moments pause that he might still have some back-bone left in him, the way the BLM and ANTIFA Rioters got stomped out after he 'won' the election - so maybe he won't be all bad.

You were going OK up 'til then, from there on you lost the plot.

There's a clip of Lou Dodds, a senile FOX personality, saying he's confused about why there is no evidence to prove all the electoral fraud that everybody knows happened.
Of course that's a tell. The 'fact' that there is no proof, proves there is a conspiracy. When you hear that just walk away. The person is a lost cause.

Starting the riot, saying he would be right there with them before going back to the west wing to survey the carnage. Vintage Trump right there. More vintage Trump, blaming Pence for not performing a task Trump knew full well Pence had no authority to implement. The usual magas brainlessly lapped it up and issued death threats against Pence. Pence is a wanker and deserves all he gets from sucking Trump dick for the last 4 years. I'm just pointing out how Trump will throw absolutely anyone under the bus if it suits him.

I jokingly said to my son today that the poor little magas will end up on some russian platform in place of parler, and boom - there they are flocking to the Russian developed "telegram".

Thought I had already posted about Telegram, must have just thunk about posting.

But, yeah. Na. Acquaintances with different political, privacy and freedom opinions to my own are flocking to it. Mainly because whatsapp is now openly harvesting data.

I had a look at Telegram, it's run by 2 Russians, the company is based in Dubai at the mo and the owners are effectively of no fixed abode due to concerns they might be "influenced" by Mother Russia.

Not what I expected, could be legit.

Then again.

There's a very good piece on Politico by Fiona Hill - the eastern european expert who testified at the first impeachment.
She correctly identifies it as an attempted coup - and lays out the classic steps and how Trump followed them.

She doesn't go to what IMO is the inevitable conclusion however - if Trump had had the balls to lead the assault himself it probably would have succeeded.

But in my mind it leaves a very big question - Who told Trump how to do it ? Demonstrably he doesn't read history, least of all political history.

Someone who does however is his mate Putin....

Oddly Putin acknowledged trump on election night results, but his administration refused to acknowledge Biden until the attempotrd coup failed.

he said he wouldn’t recognize the election results until they were accepted by Biden’s opponent or confirmed in a “legitimate” way.

The machinery of power is moving exactly as one would expect should that be the case - get Joe in as quick as possible - Gloss over any queries and then when a sufficient amount of time has passed, maybe hold an enquiry (by then a lot of time-sensitive will either have expired or be destroyed).

. . . .

Ok um, so. . . This "Machinery of Power", Where is this hidden? Is it in the basement of the White House? and in 4 years Trumps lackeys couldn't find it to turn it off?

-Cause you know that the Republicans have been in power? and more so Trump has his own people, changed several times as hes pretty good at firing people. (not so good at making good hiring choices).

So how are the Democrats controlling all this?. Remote control? Lizard technology? Because they are not in power yet. You know that yeah?

2. But the real question is do I believe he won legitimately? Short answer - No.

3. Many of my fans will want to gloat with glee over that - with cries of 'Cope' and 'Conspiracy' and 'Magat' and alike.

4. And I'll grant you all of the above (and whatever else you deem) - I'll admit that I don't have the conclusive proof that would meet the threshold in a court of law. From a pure numbers point of view however, there are too many unprecedented occurrences with Joe's election.

6. Then we have to accept that the idea of violently overthrowing a Government is baked into the Constitution and the Founding fathers were explicit: "the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants".

1. Stating the obvious ... but ... not the first (nor will be the last) time you were/are wrong.

2. What you believe is entirely your choice. Be it in Father Christmas or the result in the latest American election. The results are final ... but Trump might ask for a few more recounts. What has he got left to loose .. ??? Greater legal minds than yours will be (and no doubt have been) scouring the record keeping in election process for any "irregularities" (that favored Biden) ... in the vote counting process. Or any other part of the Election process.

So far ... nothing.

3. You have fans ... who knew .. ??

4. "Unprecedented occurrences" are common in most elections ... there were a few in the last election held in New Zealand ... a few months back. And the one before that too.

Unless they are deemed illegal ... it doesn't change the election result.

5. The "Machinery of power" is bigger the Government itself. A lot of people doing what they are paid to do. Very small needles in a big haystack. Again ... plenty of people looking ... and nothing (illegal) found to alter the election outcome so far.

6. A violent overthrow of Government is not a particularly new (sometimes ... not even a particularly bad) occurrence in history. Civil wars are fought to determine whom governs. It will take more than a few (armed) Trump supporters to achieve victory (power) doing that.

It will certainly take more than a few kids with imitation AK's to achieve success in that.

TDL's post comes close to that. Very close.

It's not that there isn't Proof, it's more that what we currently have doesn't come close to the 'Beyond all reasonable Doubt' levels of proof required by a court of law.

And that's fine.

My position is that given all of the unprecedented occurrences and the statistical outliers, on the preponderance of that Evidence, there's been some form of foul play or at the very least, something that requires a proper and full investigation.

If you look at the majority of Media companies - they share either a soft left or substantial left bias.
If you look at Eductation (at all levels) - overwhelming left or far left.
If you look at the 'Big Tech Giants' - They donate to the Democrats, give preferential treatment to Left-Wing causes that is not extended to Right-Wing causes, implement radical left theories into corporate policy.
If you look at most corporate HR and Media departments - they are overwhelmingly left also.

Or any other part of the Election process.

So far ... nothing.

To be fair, there's plenty of irregularities, the issue is whether or not they meet the level of proof demanded by the courts. It's one thing for a number of Poll watchers to say they weren't able to watch the votes being counted (and their testimony to be backed up by video Evidence), but that doesn't prove that Cheating definitely happened.

I can think of a number of very famous legal cases where someone was very obviously guilty, but because of the inability to meet the threshold of 'Beyond all reasonable doubt' - they got off. The Kahui case springs to mind.

3. You have fans ... who knew .. ??

Well, in my absence a number of people were eagerly awaiting my opinion and I was referenced in passing by others and that post generated 4 different replies - so that suffices for me.

4. "Unprecedented occurrences" are common in most elections ... there were a few in the last election held in New Zealand ... a few months back. And the one before that too.

Unless they are deemed illegal ... it doesn't change the election result.

That's a very interesting comparison - I've stated my opinion on Jacinda (I think she's a Cunt) - but I can acknowledge she was wildly popular - There was AN unprecedented occurrence (outright victory under MMP for Labour), but the rest of the election result wasn't too far off predictions - NZ First got booted out of Parliament for Crossing the floor and forming and coalition with Labour. ACT did well off the back of David Seymours principled opposition. The Greens rallied.

And even that Unprecedented event wasn't unpredictable - with several pundits speculating whether or not she would be able to do it. On top of that, our history of MMP is relatively short, compared to the US system.

Whereas in the US there's been a large number of 'Firsts' and events that haven't happened in 100+ years. As we both agree though - that doesn't meet the requirement of Legal proof that there was foul play, For me however, it does meet the threshold of on the preponderance of evidence.

5. The "Machinery of power" is bigger the Government itself. A lot of people doing what they are paid to do. Very small needles in a big haystack. Again ... plenty of people looking ... and nothing (illegal) found to alter the election outcome so far.

Completely agree the Machinery of Power extends far beyond the Government. I beleive I've already flogged this horse - but things were found that were suspicious and worthy of thorough investigation but they did not meet the requirement of 'beyond all reasonable doubt'

For sure it's not new, however in most Government structures, Civil War and Revolution are generally frowned upon, whereas America is quite unique in that the threat of violent overthrow of the government is specifically baked into the system. It's akin to the 3rd leg of the Triumvirate system that Rome used to be built on.

I see that they are trying Impeachment again, So much for 'Unity and Togetherness'...

One has to be not in power before it’s a coup, he’s still officially president for a few more days...

But your getting closer to the Truth, that a communist takeover is happening behind the scenes...
I LOVE how the left screams out that communist Russia is meddling with America’s power structure and elections but refuses to acknowledge the possibility there are few more deeper layers leading to the Elite behind the scenes...
There is a coup happening but it’s the Elite vs humanity, we’ve developed the necessary infrastructure and technology that weve made ourselves redundant via population growth. Us slaves are over educated and they’re having trouble keeping us on the plantation.
But send us back they will via equality where everyone has the same, just remember poverty in a western nation is untold riches compared to slaves in China or Africa etc.... so be careful what you wish for.... equality means having nothing...

Bang on the money... isnÂ’t it just hilarious that the extreme left calls them self anti fascist when the highest definition of fascism is the merger of state and corporate power.

Just look at Hitler we all agree he was a bad guy... but the real power was the likes of IG Farben whose groups of companies made the poison gases, whose companies utilised the work camp labour and I wonÂ’t even mention the AMERICAN companies who sold rubber and other industrial technologies to these outfits during wartime!

We all used to laugh on both sides at the obvious political corruption of America where corporate lobbyists influence laws and decisions with donations and gifts etc no one here would dispute that process...
But now we have the corporates openly stating what they think is wrong and right but itÂ’s not impartial...
We have the worlds richest computer expert who really was just done nerd lucky in right place st right time with help from daddyÂ’s mo etc and influence sufffenly make himself the world expert on vaccines....
We have media that no longer questions and prints corporate press releases as news, that previously would have been back on page 9 or 11 with in small bold letters next door the word advertisement.

Oh well the great reset is coming where we all own nothing to repay the corona lockdown debt...
If watching the left cry about the homeless stealing their food in the CHAZ compound no pice zone was anything to go by itÂ’s sure going to be entertaining. In our lovely New equality world some people are still going to want more than others.
Guess who the easy targets will be???? Call the ..... Call the .... dial..... disconnected tone....

Trump's knowledge of US geography has been shown to be sketchy previously when he placed Kansas City in the wrong state when congratulating a sports team.

Trump is flying to Alamo Texas. This may be to remind everybody of the event, famous in Amarican history, where a group of 'illegal immigrants' made a last stand against the Mexican Army.

A minor detail perhaps, but if his intention is somehow to associate his final days in office with the famous last stand, he's in the wrong place. "The Alamo" of historic fame is near San Antonio, hundreds of kilometers away from the eponymous town near the west Texas border.

Big tech has just made a huge mistake. It’s like when cops kill a drug lord in Mexico they create a power vacumn.
The platform bans haven’t dented Trumos support base. He still has a major following. Trump has mega business experience and connections.
Post presidency we could see a new Trump News Network, Trump twitter and Facebook style platforms. Build it and they will come, advertisers will want to access 50% of their markets that leftist outlets just burned to a crisp.
And you can bet they won’t be as censored or nanny state as the existing sites so even the leftists will flock over to vent their views.

Now think about this... would you want to work in a place with ................................., safe spaces and nasty words banned or work somewhere with true freedom of expression allowed.

I think the first point is that I'm a big fan of the right to peaceful protest. Flowing from that, Calling for or advocating for Protests is also fine.

Now to add some Caveats to that - calling for Violent Protests is not okay and for Protests that have turned violent, continued support for them is generally not acceptable.

I did write a big bit, but I've decided to respond with a Question first - bearing in mind that I'll apply the answer to both sides:

What do you consider to be the acceptable limits of Protest and
What do you consider to be the acceptable limits of calling for Protest?

Because I cannot really answer your question until we set some standards.

That's pure fantasy. Zuckerberg is not left wing, his actions are far more compatible with his being rightwing. It may just be that he's an arsehole though. Arseholes and rghtwingers can be indistinguishable. Facebook have assisted with Trump propaganda since the beginning. They relatively recently refused to limit political ads containing obvious lies, Trump ads of course. Facebook were complicit in the Data Analytica scandal and were fined half a million quid in Britain. Data Analytica were not working for the Democrats.

Jack Dorsey holidayed in Myanmar. Taking the sun in military dictatorships where genocide is actively underway is not typical left wing behaviour. Next thing you'll be trying to sell Peter Thiel as a left winger.

Meanwhile back with reality, Liz Cheney is #3 in the Congressional Republican hierarchy. Her father was George W's Vice President. I didn't much like her dad, didn't much like her, but she is going up in my estimation.

Saw Trump on TV at the end of the wall so far today. He didn't sound like someone who was confident that another 4 years were on the cards. T'was, in general, a toned down affair as they celebrated the magnificence of the border wall without mention of anything that might make one think that he was anything but an outgoing president. He did read from an auto-prompt, so it could simply have been a case of wrong time wrong place for grumpy trumpy to incite another riot and maybe start tearing down the wall.

What you've described though isn't assistance.

And it's pretty easy to prove that there is one standard for the likes of Trump/MAGA and a different standard for the likes of ANTIFA and BLM - from which we can conclude which way the pendulum swings.

Jack Dorsey holidayed in Myanmar. Taking the sun in military dictatorships where genocide is actively underway is not typical left wing behaviour. Next thing you'll be trying to sell Peter Thiel as a left winger.

Except for when Jack admits to having a Left Bias.

Well, the Left do love their Dictatorships...

My fledgling tin foil hat company is on the brink of a massive spike in sales now it would seem!
Getcha tin foil hats here, $2 ea or 2 for a fiver!

Sorry mate, I read online that a tinfoil hat is no good now that Elon Musk (a Russian!!!!!) has launched the Starlink Mindcontrol sattelites. So what you'll need now is a full body metal condom with an antenna going down to metal shoes - the antenna, metal sheathing will ground those signals out to earth, bypassing the brain. Of course if you have had your Covid Vax (with patented Bill Gates mind-control chip) then nothing will save you except your AR-15 and MAGA hat. You have seen the consequences of that though - that guy was mindcontrolled into tasering his own ballsack till he had a heart attack!!!

I was actually seriously considering getting a bunch of MAGA hats and lining them with tinfoil then offering them for sale on Etsy for $100USD each. Just to see how it went. Because there would be people who would buy them. But I dont need the money that bad and I have a modicum of self respect left.

Ohhh, na uhhh ahhh! despite your carefully placed banana skins and racing around the paddock making hay for future straw man arguments - I'm not falling for it. You ponied up with Trump, you must of known the hard questions would come sooner or later. So try not to spin it one way or another, if Trump crossed the line for you, why not share it? If there was no line crossed as far as you are concerned, it does really lay to waste any BLM Anitifa riots you were jumping all over. :bleh:

And I'm sure I could find videos of Dole-Bludging Labour supporters who can barely string a sentence together - this gross characterization however does neither side any favours.

The absolute demonstration of the difference between Trumpy fascists who you support, and therefore I judge you, and the BLM protestors (Antifa is a fucking stupid madeup word and a slur and I dont use it - suffice to say that the best example of what an antifascist is, is demonstrated by, oh, I dunno, the ENTIRE Second World War)... anyway, to my point: the difference between the fascists and fascist wannabes and the BLM protests is the two photographs. When black people and poor people were protesting there were National Guard lined up shoulder to shoulder outside the Capitol. When the fascists were massing the po po were MIA. Except the ones storming the building they swore an oath to protect. I'll leave you to google it. Or would you rather look at your god-emperor's inauguration photos where he had a crowd over a million strong that was the biggest, best and brightest inauguration crowd of any president at any time?

Let me give you some free advice. Being a trumpy apologist is to be on the wrong side of history, the wrong side of civil society, and to be ridiculed and mocked from now unto evermore. You're not stupid, just fucking deluded, and it's sad.

I'm quite pleased with that answer - because it allows me to do this:

This is from Trumps 'incitement speech' - and this is the part where he tells the crowd to go Protest (this is from the Al Jazeera Transcript):

We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.

Now, I want to counterpoint that with a Verbatim with oh, let's say Kamala Harris after the BLM Riots (which Burned down property, killed many more people)

It's little wonder that people are taking to the streets, and I support them

One is calling for explicitly peaceful protest, asking that voices be heard. The other is unequivocally supporting riots that burned down millions of dollars worth of property and killed 20+ people.

My stance is this - Having read the transcript of Trump's speech, He explicitly states he wants a Peaceful protest. I cannot square that with the accusation of Incitement of Insurrection.

Further to that though, if this is the standard of incitement that the Left want to set - then every single one of them is guilty of it by their own definitions.

As for what I want/think - Set the rules and apply them equally to everybody would be good for a start, this one rule if you are a MAGA supporter but a different one if you are BLM/ANTIFA will end in a shooting war.

Okay then.

What Fascism - and I want some really specific examples, feel free to reference Mein Kampf or Mussolini. When has Trump advocated that the State is a Moral actor?

But let's reverse it shall we: a Single 'riot' is called an Insurrection attempt, whereas annexing part of a city and declaring it ceceeding from the US is called a peaceful protest.

In portland and Kenosha the riots were allowed to continue for multiple days, yet curiously after Joe Biden 'won' - they were quashed - funny that.

Yikes, is he predicting his imminent demise??? That certainly would light the touchpaper.

Surely Congress has to be seen to do something after what happened, which was pretty significant. Plus the representatives themselves had to endure the attack in person this time, which makes it difficult for them to either ignore or forgive. Some of the more 'notorious' targets of President Trump and his rhetoric who were there are probably happy to still be alive.

President Trump stands by his rhetoric, if he won't admit some responsibility for the consequences of that rhetoric then prosecuting him for it is a reasonable course of action (in my opinion).

I would confess to a certain bias. I'm biased against grifting con men, thieves, fraudulent businessmen, draft dodging cowards, people who steal money from kids with cancer, and dopey bastards who try and pass themselves off as a stable genius. I'm against would be dictators too and Trump is all of the above. So yes, there may be bias.

Trump is a known conman, anyone who can't see that is a mark.

And how many of those accusations have resulted in a criminal conviction and a sentence?

None?

Well, well, well.

This is very interesting - because when I say that I don't believe Biden won legitimately - you were extremely quick to call this conspiratorial/delusional etc. And your rational for doing so was because it hadn't been proven in Court.

I then responded that whilst I couldn't meet the beyond all reasonable doubt threshold, I was happy with a preponderance threshold and you scoffed at that.

And yet... Now you are doing the same thing - stating an opinion on something that is not backed by a criminal conviction - How shall I respond?

Do I judge you by the standards that you set for others and call you delusional and conspiratorial? That would certainly have a nice Karmic ring to it.
Do I judge you by the standards that I hold for myself and accept that if you view certain evidence from a certain perspective one could come to that conclusion?

However I think that merely pointing out this Bias and Double-Standard, which reinforces one of my points that there is a different set of rules is more than sufficient.

Sure, that was part of his speech and should be taken into consideration. But I doubt it's going to hold as much weight as the rest of it. And he wasn't the only one, and he's prone to hyperbole etc etc but he is the President, so the buck stops with him, doesn't it?

To me, it's the most relevant part - since it's the section where he directly incites the crowd to an action, and in that statement it is explicitly, crystal clear that he wants a Peaceful protest and for Voices to be heard.

But I feel the bottom comment is the more interesting one:

Nobody's saying he 'ordered' anyone to do anything, the charge is 'incitement'. It's a grey area, but I think it deserves examination in this extraordinary case.

Let me start by hypothetically agreeing with this impeachment.

I could hear an argument that says something along the lines of 'as a public figure, you should have known better' - And if that is the standard that the society wishes to adopt, fair enough...

But that standard must be applied equally - which would mean pretty much every single Democrat who encouraged people to go out and Protest with BLM after the protests had turned into riots, with people murdered and buildings burned down - they too, must be held accountable by that same standard.

Off the top of my head - that means Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, every member of 'the squad', Joe Biden, Half of Hollywood etc. etc. all made statements encouraging people to take part in the riots.

So, this leaves me at the point of saying simply this:

Based on what was actually said, as per the transcript, this Impeachment is weaker than the last and it really betrays how 'confident' the Democrats are with their position (and one might posit a suggestion that this is the manifestation of a guilty conscious...).

However, if they want to set that Standard for Public figures, I'm fine with it - so long as they judge themselves by the same standard they judge others.

that was one short line in a long rambling diatribe. He also said " But I said something is wrong here, something is really wrong, can’t have happened, and we fight. We fight like hell, and if you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore."

Transcript and analysis here https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/interactive/2021/annotated-trump-speech-jan-6-capitol/

It's the most relevant line, since it's the one that has a direct call to go do the specific action.

However - the usage of the word 'Fight' in American Political vernacular isn't anything new or anything that is unique to Trump. The left have been banging on about Fighting for their right to be heard, fighting for this country against trump, Fighting for their right to Paaaaaaaarty etc.

So as above to Nerrrd - Let them set the standards by which they want to judge Trump, but they had best be ready to judge themselves by the same rules, otherwise they might find that the populace does that for them....

"This" just turned out to be cherry picking the one part of Trumps speech that was not inflammatory
Then engaged in a bad case of whatabouts. Far from your best work bro :nono:

It's the line where he directs the crowd to do something - it's the actually incitement to an action 'Go and protest this building', and in the call to action it is explicitly clear 'Peacefully and make your voices heard'.

Everything else is just a post-hoc justification or attempts and linguistic Gymnastics - there is zero ambiguity in that statement as to what the intent was.

The whataboutism is entirely relevant to my point of being different standards of behavior.

It's one rule if you taking part in an 'approved' Left Wing protest (Ignore lockdowns, secede from the US, Burn down buildings, assassinate people, etc.)
And another rule if you taking part in a 'Verboten' Right Wing Protest.

And hey - I'll settle for one standard - let both sides be judged by the same rules.

The Trump family are all class. It is being widely reported today that the government has paid $100,000 and counting for rental of a toilet from a neighbour of Jared and Ivanka. Javanka have six toilets in their house but will not permit the Secret Service staff assigned to their protection to use any of them. The government has been paying a neighbour rent for a studio apartment with a toilet for the security detail to use.

Next week that problem solves itself. All Trump spawn over the age of sixteen lose their Secret Service protection.

Even the 'Duck Dynasty gang' understands 'Peacefully'.

I've heard the speech, it's clear and unequivocal.

Unless there's something equally concrete that you can provide (and we both know that were such a statement in existence, it would be played on loop 24/7 on all the lefty news channels), then you have nothing.

So you think that attacking the halls of government while all the pollies are inside doing their thing is directly comparable to a BLM protest in Portsmouth?

No, I think the BLM protests were far worse because they were allowed to continue for multiple days/weeks, resulted in far more Damage in terms of a $ amount and a greater loss of life.

Plus I've read about the end-result of every Communist revolution.

And I again point to the fact that given the inferred level of firepower available to the 'Duck Dynasty Gang' (and as an example - I refer you to the Michigan 2A Rally) - this cannot be in any seriousness called an insurrection attempt.

What is there to defend at all costs? This is 1984-esque double-speak, that when someone says peacefully, there's an assertion that the crowd understood it to mean violently.

Trump reportedly referred to fight or fighting over twenty times in his speech. Then there were the exhortations to be strong etc. His warm up acts including Jr and Rudy similarly used inflammatory language. "Trial by combat?" I'd be interested to hear the peaceful connotation of that. (Not really.)

In the catered marquee where Trump's hangers-on gathered to watch proceedings, Jr referred repeatedly to fight or fighting. Even Kimberly Guilfoyle chimed in urging fight.

Then there's the rather startling news that a number of the Trump supporting Republican politicians took groups of extremists on conducted tours of the Capitol building the day before the coup attempt. One is even accused of sending messages indicating the whereabouts of Nancy Pelosi during the 'storming' of the Capitol.

Oh, and on social media the event was known as "the storm". Definitely peaceful.

Okay...

Jump off a Bridge.

Have you jumped yet?

No? Then you are agreeing that someone can say something, have a very clear and specific meaning and people do the very opposite of what was told to them.

Glad we cleared that up. Incidentally, that's kinda the point of Incitement - when someone tells a group to go do something, and they do that thing.

Not when they tell them to do one thing and they do the opposite.

You are clearly not factoring in how the pollies like to protect their own skin!
Both the dems and repubs used the BLM riots for their own political means. They take a different view when they are the ones directly effected. You can spout all your other stuff as much as you like - meanwhile in the real World.....

I agree about being used as useful idiots, but that doesn't negate the fact that these riots happened in Democrat controlled areas and resulted in a greater loss of life an destruction of Property. I hold that to be worse.

Especially when we compare what a serious insurrection could have looked like (Michigan 2A protest) - that being 10,000 heavily armed citizens making an implicit threat of violence towards the Government.

Even funnier - if you listen to some of the people who were involved in the riot - the Florida Man who stole the Lecturn? Hasn't voted since 2006 and has also attended BLM protests. Another said he was in the Oregan room where a bunch of people were smoking Weed - they really sound like your typical Redneck republicans - who are well known for loving the Devil's Cabbage....

Well, you summed it up better than I ever could in your reply! You see one instance of the word "peacefully" then cling onto it like it is the last life ring from the titanic, conveniently ignoring the tsunami of inflammatory speech framed all around it.

Because it's the part where he tells the crowd to go and do something. It's literally the most important part of the speech for the accusation and the fact that in the literal same breath he says to do so peacefully.

It's not like he's all "Lets go to the Capitol" and then 5 minutes of additional talking and then tacks on an addendum at the end, muttering under his breath " oh and uh... Do it peacefully", it's in the very same sentence.

You say there is all this inflammatory speech - Show me a line that directly contradicts his peaceful statement and is outside of the usual bounds of rhetoric used in American Political discourse.

I simply fall back on - if such a statement existed, it would be played nonstop on every news channel.

So I don't think it's unreasonable to weigh the other 9,978 or so against the 22 that comprises the 'peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard' bit.

Having said that, I couldn't see any explicit calls for violence. But while we're cherry-picking, there's a lot of this kind of thing:

Our country has had enough. We will not take it anymore, and that is what this is all about.

There’s never been anything like this. We will not let them silence your voices. We’re not going to let it happen.

We want to go back, and we want to get this right, because we’re going to have somebody in there that should not be in there, and our country will be destroyed. And we’re not going to stand for that.

Because you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong.

You will have an illegitimate president. That is what you will have, and we can’t let that happen.

I would argue he's also 'calling for action' in each of these quotes. So again, I think there's a case to answer.

And how does one determine that? By observing them rioting? If that's the standard of proof then anyone who ever says anything publicly and has one or more people do something illegal that can be linked to what they said is liable - not exactly an ideal situation, wouldn't you agree?

What's really interesting is when you read or listen to some of the interviews had with people who rioted - one repeated sentiment was (paraphrased) 'If they can do this in Portland, then why can't we do it here?'

To be clear, Rioting is bad, no one should riot - It seems clear though that it wasn't Trump's words that spurned them to riot, but the actions of Democrat state governors...

Should they be liable if their actions have a causal link to the decision to protest?

Interesting indeed, but unfortunately for the President there's a much stronger causal link between his rally and the rioting. As in many of the rioters attended his rally, listened to his speech, walked down Pennsylvania Avenue (about a mile apparently) and then stormed the Capitol. In front of a lot of cameras (including their own). I'm guessing there weren't any Democratic State Governors there giving speeches at the time.

Now, do you believe the claims of voter fraud that he blabbers about ( dead people, underage voters, more ballots than registered voters blah blah blah)? All of which are easily debunked
Do you believe the shitstain that has complained of a rigged election for years before the election even took place?
Or do you believe election officials, both Democat and Republican that have said there is no evidence of significant voter fraud?
And no need to give your generic "statistical anomolies" answer.
Do you REALLY believe what Trump said?

You do of course have to say Yes. To say no would be to admit what the sane people of this world know. That Joe Biden won the presidential election by a landslide in a free and fair election and that Trump is doing his level best to stoke anger and division because he cant handle losing.

He said he wanted Protest - okay, fair.

Let's put aside the Peaceful part for the moment - When the people tell you that one of the reasons for Rioting was because 'the other side could get away with it', not 'Trump's speech got me so fired up I just needed to HULK SMASH!' - which do you believe? What they actually tell you or what the Narrative being spun is?

And most of the interviews I've heard - the people talking are quite candid - They like Trump, they like 'Murica, they like the wall, they like their Tax cuts and they think Trump can be a bit of Knob sometimes. Not exactly fanatical extremists, under the spell of a cult-of-personality.

So given their rather straightforward answers, I think that might be a better place to start.

I'm guessing there weren't any Democratic State Governors there giving speeches at the time.

Their actions have been giving speeches since the beginning of the year.

Thereby making the rest of the speech irrelevant? I'm not convinced. I don't think I'm the only one.

You said yourself you've got nothing that is explicitly calling for violence or illegal action, versus an explicit statement to protest peacefully.

On one hand you have clear positive statement and on the other, not only do you not have a clear negative statement, there is only an inference and 'well, this is what the crowd must have thought', as if we can know the minds of everyone who rioted.

Do I believe everything Trump says? No.

I've been clear on that since before the Election - he's a New Yorker - everything is the Biggest, the Best, the Greatest etc. He talks a lot of shit and he makes a lot of quips.

Do I believe Biden won fairly? No.

I've been clear on why I think that also. Too many inconsistencies in the numbers and too many 'firsts' and 'unprecedented's for me to believe it.

Those 2 statements are not mutually exclusive.

As for the Stoking Anger and Division - the Democrats have been doing their utmost as more. At each decision point they have opted to stifle, censor, deplatform etc. their opposition (about half of the country). I dare say that's stoking quite a bit of Anger wouldn't you say?

Interesting development in Texas, wouldn't you say - a single person rigging 7,000 odd votes (claimed)? Would only take a small number of those sorts of people in some key areas to change the election result. 1,000 of those people in a Population of 300+ Million and that would account for the largest single voter turn-out in history.

Very interesting, wouldn't you say?

But the final thing that I find most interesting - is taking you at your word you read the whole speech - if there was a line or collection of lines that conclusively called for violence or insurrection or lawlessness etc. I have no doubt that you would have victoriously posted them up.

I find their absence, the most interesting, wouldn't you say....

1/32 man

Agree with it or not, this is how Congress saw it (from the Impeachment articles):

Shortly before the Joint Session commenced, President Trump, addressed a crowd at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C. There, he reiterated false claims that "we won this election, and we won it by a landslide." He also willfully made statements that, in context, encouraged — and foreseeably resulted in — lawless action at the Capitol, such as: "if you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore." Thus incited by President Trump, members of the crowd he had addressed, in an attempt to, among other objectives, interfere with the Joint Session's solemn constitutional duty to certify the results of the 2020 Presidential election, unlawfully breached and vandalized the Capitol, injured and killed law enforcement personnel, menaced Members of Congress, the Vice President, and Congressional personnel, and engaged in other violent, deadly, destructive and seditious acts.

Having read the speech, and seen what coverage I have of the rioting, it doesn’t seem an outrageously inaccurate description of what happened. Yes it’s filtered through the lense of politics, it’s Congress; but they’re angry, and in my opinion they’re entitled to be.

There certainly seems to be a rhetoric amongst MAGAs that any behaviour is justified if they can point at another group and say well, they are worse. Typically black groups, but the same technique works when their orange Jesus does something that would usually enrage the Christian pressure groups.

So why are the disaffected white portion of 'mercan society so easily whipped into fervor? Why do the feel so hard done by?

A quick look at history shows that America (thats the North one) was grown from a backwater colony to an economic powerhouse on the back of slavery. Turns out you can make a heap of profit when you don't have to pay minimum wage or health care. . or anything, to the labour intensive industry of your choice.

These families made bulk and that privilege flowed down to land ownership and thereafter.

Of course not everyone was making benefit from this and they weren't sharing the spoils willy nilly.

So a lower social group of white people always existed.

Fast forward several generations

The "economic anxiety" thing was crock of shit. That's a just fancy name for the same ol' racism.

That woman real estate agent who flew to DC from Texas in a chartered 'plane to attend the coup, then posted pics on social media saying she had the time of her life. After she flew home she deleted all her posts. She's now been arrested and interestingly all her social media posts are attached to the charging documents. She's appealing to Trump for a pardon.

Chartering corporate air services is not normally an indication of economic anxiety. Same for all the others who flew from all over te country to join the show.

So the crys come. Don't tell me I have white privilege. I had to work for everything I have.

So do white people have an automatic step up? Well no.

This is possibly why they feel anger at coloured groups trying to rail against the powers. Why should they get free cash and prizes?

I hear it here when university kids seem to get financial advantage if they are Maori vs ordinary white kids. Doesn't seem fair.

So I think the real question is: are coloured people disadvantaged?
Don't know where you guys went to school but in Karori there were single digit coloured kids. Was a bit scary in college when I met all these Maori and Pacific kids. None seemed to be from rich families.

But America (norf) is a different kettle of fish again. Krist they had apartheid till 1968. That was the year I was born for fucking down the sink. How fucked up is that?

Let's be a bit honest with ourselves here. It will take generations to try equalise that sort of shit.

Excerpt from there

When this perceived need to protect one’s identity is stoked by people in positions of power, it can turn dangerous and ugly. Identity protective cognition can lead to what Slovic and other researchers call “virtuous violence”— violence that people support or commit because they believe it is morally right. In an August 2020 study (https://www.pnas.org/content/pnas/117/34/20474.full.pdf), Slovic and a team of researchers found that White conservative men were more likely than all others to support virtuous violence, and “felt socially distant from the enemy, dehumanized them, and believed that the victims were to blame for their fate.”

There have been many reports that Trump wanted a big military send off on the 20th. He is not attending Biden's inauguration. Apparently a twenty one gun salute waa felt appropriate to include. Some people might have thought that full military honours for a five time draft dodging coward were inappropriate. Evidently Trump's narcissism allowed him to overcome any such concerns.

Latest reports suggest that the Pentagon has declined his request. (If a Commander in Chief's wishes can be considered a request, as opposed to an order?)

He may be slinking out of DC like the loser he is.

Hasn't Biden cancelled his inauguration? So there is nothing to go to anyway.

Boners you are coming across like a trump troll. I noticed that once trump was killed off on Twitter you suddenly were much more voluminous in your writing.
I am starting to think you are trump only your spelling is slightly better.
Maybe you are the chosen one?
Donny, I love you!

And the picture looks like you took it from your car... isn’t that a steering wheel that I can see?

You might notice that I am slightly acidic in my tone due to riding 300km this morning with a portion of the road being narrow, windy, bumpy, broken, rutted, gravelly, patchy, hilly....

Yeah, I can see he's been posting a lot lately although I haven't been reading it. He should be doing something useful with his time, like polishing his medals?

That's an interesting question. There are moves for both Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia to be states. The Dems are not oppposed but the Republicans are.
Puerto Rican people are US citizens but they don't get a vote in elections, they have no political representation.

If they became states both DC and Puerto Rico would each have two Senators, possibly all Democrat, which is why the Republicans don't much like the idea.

The US don't have to go to fifty two states, both North and South Dakota have more horses than people (in a manner fo speaking). They could usefully be combined.
West Virginia is largely impoverished and contrary to Trump's spiel, coal did not come back. West Virginia could be absorbed in to Virginia.

Biden will be very busy fixing Trump's fuck ups for the foreseeable future, so there may not be time to look at this 'housekeeping'.

Please explain what triggered you here, it’s not racist to note that two parts of the SAME country that are the SAME race live under different conditions due to different political ideals of their chosen leaders elected in fair elections.

Your just jealous that go live north and get to enjoy full benefits of communist lifestyle before you do. Jacinda is moving to slow here, you will wait too long for equality.

You bow before our great leader Kim Jong and announce your apology. I now self identify as North Korean so no more play with race card thank you many times.

So the trigger was your broken English parady. Did you pull the sides of your eyes to narrow them as you came up with it?

Love the "3yr old" quote.

Another that appealed recently concerned the new MAGAt Congresswoman Boebert who insists she's going to take her gun into the chamber.
She was described as 'Inbred Barbie'.

Wow, boner is getting super agitated huh. The more acerbic he gets shows how frustrated he is getting in his abject failure to have this trump thread moved to pd. Not for lack of trying though, last to post at night, first to post in the morning and then all through the day - while still having time to go on "alleged" rides.
