Hey Guys,

My town bike is fitted with a cheapo GPS-Tracker.

There is a thread about here. https://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/187957-GPS-Tracker

This follows on.

Hint 1: Test The System regularly

Hint 2: Your sim card will be 'deactivated' the If you don't top up every year - even when you have money on it

Hint 3: Sorting a new sim card is a right royal PITA

Hint 4: Vodafone people are great. Vodafone systems sux

Hint 5: Test The System

I'm working some odd-ball hours at the moment - which means I'm having to leave the bike in the work car park overnight. I dont like doing this. Although the big-arse abus Ulock gives some confidence, I was dismayed when I checked the location and it would not work.

Hint 6: Test The System

Unfortunately IT tests me...Do you not recommend this particular unit then?

Motomail has this one: https://www.motomail.co.nz/estore/style/orcplus.aspx

Any thoughts?

Just off the top of my head...

Doesn't look very rugged.

Separate aerial - yuk

"Subscription service" == avoid++

"Global Asset Register" - fark that for an idea

But long backup battery life.

- 4 con vs +1 pro = -3 rating

It will be interesting what changes happen when the Starlink system becomes fully online. Perhaps a way of monitoring via that? Elon, please tell us!

We have them on our work bikes. Will run the battery flat over the course of a long weekend. Thank goodness for kick starts. (Oh, CT110, 6 volt)

Ouch - that's heavy drain. I get about 3 weeks on the battery (tiny) in the DR-Z
