A made up word designed to protect people with imaginary friends, from the real world criticism of their mental condition.

It is a clear demonstration of an imaginary deity’s impotency and incapacity to do its own bidding, when humans have to make edicts to defend its alleged hurt pride.
Blasphemy laws are more about the insecurity of the believer than an attempt to protect a god.
Any "god" in need of such human intervention is a god not worth paying any attention to.

Look up the word in a dictionary yourself if you want to argue. But no doubt you'll claim the dictionary is wrong.

What is claimed (by a person claiming blasphemy) ... is the issue. The perceived truth (as seen by either party) is what causes the aggro.

Actual truth/facts in the subject is irrelevant. A claim of blasphemy PROVES nothing for either party. But both parties can claim blasphemy to argue their point. I guess one of the parties MUST be wrong.

So while we are here celebrating Easter. A pagan festival of rebirth hence the eggs and fertility hence the bunnies, anyways, we are celebrating that the Romans put jesus to death for the crime of. . . Ironically Blasphemy.

I don't mind the days shops are closed tbh, anything I need I'll get the days before and if it's something I would like on the day, well it's only one day. Nice that retail workers can have a day away.

Interesting to note ... those that usually work their business on stat holiday's and moaning they are not getting their stat holiday off ... still feel keen to add their usual surcharge to the bill on those stat holidays.

Interesting that a religious holiday is now just seen (by the rest) as just another (well) paid day off.

Well ... those that get the day off. I've been working today.

The next big demand will be from everybody on a benefit ... wanting to be paid time and a half on stat holiday's ... ;)

Well we washed and sanded down the kitchen, fixed bits and slammed some sealer over the repairs. Finally think we have an accord on colour using testpot on white cardboard after a couple of non starters last week. Heck we'd finished by two.

Could have popped down to Mitre10 and got some paint.

But ooohhh nooo. Not on a Sacred Day. Fuking Krist.

It should be a feast of changing seasons like it used to be. Least we would be able to buy shit we need.

(Apart from that tiny piece of fibre that is protruding ever so slightly from a plastered hole that I daren't try and remove because i know it's still attached to the board and will cause a mess).

Working overtime on a weekend in Wellington back in the day we wanted to buy some lunch. Couldn't find anything that was open.

Things are better now but I don't think we need universal 24/7 'shop til you drop'. Many people now can't handle shops being shut for a day. "The shops are shut Friday, I'd better buy four extra loaves of bread."

And so I pulled out my well-worn Atheist hat and grumbled at being forced to observe a religious custom I don't subscribe to and be without Breakfast.

You have lost the plot. Abuse of children is occurring in a lot of places ... and not just in the churches.

Teachers are a group that were always in the limelight as a group that have had members abusing children.

There have been plenty of other people that are (were) held in high regard in our NZ society ... and found to be abusing children.

Why single out Priests ... and give it as an example why God doesn't exist ... ???

You can be very pedantic sometimes with an overly literal interpretation of what’s written and miss the concept of what is being said. You’d prob be a very good defence lawyer seizing on grammatical errors by the prosecution.
Then the English language subtleties play their part too...

What you see as changing subject is me turning a new page to next point of interest

I’m not here to win any argument for that is often futile, merely to exchange ideas and stimulate conversation that just might take society forwards at times...
