Hello,
I was riding and I lost the screw on the bottom of my carburetor. The engine lost power and all the fuel started leaking out. I turned off the petcock and walked up and down the road for 20 minutes looking for the screw. I did not find it.
My question is:
Does this screw do anything more than just hold the fuel in? Can I just put anything in there to plug it? It's a Mikuni carb for a Suzuki GN125.
Thanks

You could try a woodscrew but will need to be really tight or it will leak.
Yes it is a drainscrew only.
Dont use a woodscrew.
Also it must seal. Leaks are very real fire hazards.
Consider carefully before applying liquid anything to seal it.

As already stated ... it is a drain screw. Holding fuel in IS important enough to have one there. The bike wont run well without it.
It should be a metric size ... so they won't be rare or expensive to replace. Look around your own home (or take the bowel to a hardware shop).
The lost screw will probably be about half a kilometer back from where you stopped. And now swept off the road by other traffic.

Thanks for the replies. Just to follow up. It is a custom Suzuki part. I read elsewhere that it is tapered and that is important as there is stuff inside the carb that can be damaged by just screwing any old screw in there. I ended up pushing her home and ordered the part which should be here in a couple of days.
Cheers,
Gardner
