This looks like it could be a lot of fun, but a 230km ride round the coromandal loop sounds 'interesting' They don't seem to want Jappas there either

Ha I was waiting for one of our super spreader experts to post about this given what they said about Sturgis rally...
Traffic control ha what a laugh that area is a nightmare in summertime with everyone in cars going to beaches and holiday baches. Really who would want to even think about riding that loop with that volume o of traffic.
Gonna see if I can get a vendor stall selling head gaskets a and clutch plates.

Great idea though aside Fromm being too close to one of the hell hole areas of high level road policing....
Expect it to be hell to organise and manage under the covid regs for organisers even at level one, you’d be under high scrutiny given the above national average level of Karen’s and greenies in that area.

It's bad enough with wannabe 1%'ers creating mayhem and falling off when they're on poker runs up this way

And how much would we have to pay for the privilege of being locked into a campground with no cheap alcohol, no vaping (? lol?) and more tanned leather backsides than I care to picture.

Ah, but it is modeled on Sturgis. Quote from the last paragraph - "the titular city".

I guess that means lots of boobies on display, too.

I don't understand the no Jappas decision. Ruling out a sizeable chunk of the potential market seems counter productive. As has been pointed out, the roads there at the height of summer are full of boats and caravans. Painful.

Yeah, good luck with that.

The guy has sorted the Beach Hop for a long time so has some nouse. Bands won't be cheap and many of them too, but will be leaning on the rich road whale riders to pay a lot.
Good on them. Although I think the behaviour of few elderly wealthy hot rodders they have on the beach hop, that in the main would single file it around the loop compared with several hundred rich city bikers who can afford this, riding those roads amongst holiday traffic will be interesting.

Sounds like a really good reason to avoid the area on the dates mentioned...

You spelt Triumph wrong. Being non Jappa it'll be interesting to see the harvey donaldsons and aprilias riding together, plus a few orange KTM's out for squirt too....

KTMs or some, are made in India. I guess it's part of Europe.

Let's see how this pans out

I reckon most riders would avoid the Coro Peninsula, for riding anyway, from mid December to mid February or thereabouts. So if a select group wishes to indulge in the advertised event, oh well :bleh:

As for excluding Jap bikes, well it wouldn't take a Jap bike 4 days to make it around the Loop was my first thought :violin:

So were those Harley 750 thingies. They must be OK though. Neither Thailand nor India are in Japan.

So what happens if someone turns up on a (say) metric cruiser such as a Vulcan 1500 and wants to ride around a public road at the same time (other than embarrassing all the hoggly riders)?

The Beach Hop is one thing, but I'm not sure what the locals will think of Whanga being turned into Sturgis for a weekend. Depends who turns up I suppose...

the dynamics of cars versus bikes at a big event are different. At least 50% of all attendees operate a motor vehicle on bikes, whereas with cars it's possible to have a much highre rate of sober driver. nowadays that doesn't just mean at night, the morning after is a concern due to the lower breath alcohol. Additionally and 'ride' is different, cars aren't as likely to try and pass everything they can, and the vast different styles of bikes means differnen levels of riding abilities and bikes adds to the risks...... There's too many people here take on another bike and rider that's far superior to their own set up and run into trouble.

Do they "allow" Japanese cars at the beach hop? I mean I like muscle cars and street cars and hot rods and I know people in that scene, but the cars I really like are Japanese. Plus I have spanners that will work on them. of course the big attraction is you dont have get the spanners out every quarter of an hour with a japanese car.

For your viewing pleasure, here's a friggin cool one that is about to receive a large power upgrade. Engine by Hartley from sunny Palmerston North.

When I heard the advertising it sounded like a bloody good event. Seriously good line up of bands!
Then it appeared that it's a convention for the chrome-polishing festishists' and arse-less trouser homosexual enthusiasts.

I will find another nice bit of road to use instead, at that time of the year...

most of it is on public roads so i doubt they can risk being racist and exlude them

I think it's a wise idea to limit the distance to be travelled to under 250km. There can't be enough tow trucks and mechanics around Coromandel to handle that many breakdowns in a single weekend if they tried to ride further. Keeping it to under 250km will ensure at least a few of the Hogleys can complete the loop.

Don’t they always travel with their own support vehicle anyway lol

I'll tell you what...... doing the Northern Loop is absolute heaven at present. A mate and I did it 2 Sundays ago and the lack of traffic was amazing, even before Hamilton district joined the restrictions. We went anticlockwise and whilst there was light traffic heading south on the eastern side, there was virtually nothing going in our direction. I think we counted 6 cars that we passed in the whole 200 km. Now with Hamilton added, I might just have to do a circuit tomorrow and have the place to myself
