it's pretty common really. i've seen a female blow 1750, after driving from tokoroa to matamata in her previa to pick the kids up from the school ball.
seen a guy blow 1500 at 10am, towing a tandem horse float with 2 horses in it, with a flat deck 2.0l petrol hilux.
picked up a lady who backed into the school bus outside a busy hamilton school. she blew 1800. it was 8am. she reckoned she hadn't had anything to drink since 2am.

That, Marty, and the subject of this thread are truly fearful...
Some people should be forced to pay for a breath-alcohol level based starter interlock before they are allowed to drive again (I know they have inherent faults...but it's gotta make it more difficult to drive with EBA)

Really? I prefer to drink from a chateau cardboard bladder, as my biggest problem is the bottle smacking into my teeth when i run over people's pets, and drive over the kerb onto the footpath.

I am surprised the Police didn't ignore her and arrest the truck driver! but of course this was "traffic" not a burglary. John.

I doubt it,thats all they gave that dude over west for the licence scam, she will probably after considerable paperwork and time by the Police get a slap on the hand,i guess she took the car because she was to pissed to walk...
Ps..Why bash the cops when the problem is the judicial system.

On the other hand it'd be a good test. If they're drunk enough to go up in flames they shouldn't be driving...

Stupid B*tch!! driving drunk. There is something to be said for the chinese system. You have your case heard and if guilty they wheel you straight out the back door to the injection bus. No mess no fuss no prisoner to have to feed.
Yeah probably a little harsh but come on, how do you get through to these people?

The same child who's life she put in danger.

I wouldn't think you could get to three times the limit on only three bottles of wine. Maybe she ditched the earlier empties.

2.25 litres of 14% alchol anything will get you 3 times over easy, thats around 20 glasses of wine.

Yeah, but the time it would take to drink that much, you'd metabolise most of it away.Sort of 2 steps forward one back thing

thats speculation, but give it a go on the weekend and let us know, obvisouly without the riding/driving bit.
I've seen people get through a few bottles without too much trouble or time involved.....

I'm interested in what these people were like at the time they blew those readings? Where they obviously drunk, staggering, sluring and what not?
I ask as I blew a reading at a pub once of 50, which is 100 under my legal limit I believe, but there was no way in hell I was prepared to drive for the next hour as I felt that I had had too much.

Of course, tis speculation. But I've had two bottles of table wine, plus sherry and liquer in the course of an evening. Felt OK (no driving, but, and no idea what the reading would have been obviously). There's a limit I would think to how fast you can drink wine, it's not like beer.

I don't drink drive... it is just too silly man, that stuff really does dull your reactions behind the wheel... Have done a wee bit of drunken 'paddock' work at home, i think that is a little dodgey however on a completly flat paddock what can go wrong right?? It made for good learning, i.e, when drunk it isbloody hard to maintain concerntration..

i've 'experimented' lots using both the seres and itoxilyser.
i basically have to be slurring my words and having difficulty walking to blow 500 (limit is 400), and there is no way i'd drive near that level.
most i've blown was 850, that was soon after drinking tequila, at 3am after being on the piss for about 9 hours. i threw up soon after that.
people that say 'but i only had a glass of wine' are full of shit. they only remember the last glass, not the 4 or 5 before it

How do you miss the Hamilton turn off? As far as I know most major roads going south from Auckland, Pukekohe and such join SH1 at some point before Hams and SH1 goes right through here..... Couldn't have been THAT drunk could she?

To miss the Hamilton turn off she must have been on the back road to the West, which goes through to Otorohanga via Pirongia etc... great bike road...then again maybe she was on SH1 and blinked when she got to Hamilton :devil2:
