She does have a pert set of boobies and a not entirely ugly face, so hammerable. However, I read somewhere she is a fan of "trickle down" economics. My feeling is that concept is misnamed. It should be called golden shower economics as the rich people get to piss all over the little people. So as a pollie, no vote for her from me. However, as mentioned, I would still happily hammer her, so not a total loss for Liz :devil2:

Poor Liz didn't even get a 'honeymoon'. Not that she deserved one. There are already Tory MPs reportedly writng no confidence letters and Boris Johnson is sharpening his back stabbing knife.
Britain seems heading for seriously hard times unless they change something major. Like f'rinstance the gubbermint. Part of the problem is that the senior members of the party who could be in line for the top job were all selected for loyalty to Johnson and to Brexit. Intelligence was not a requirement, in fact it would have been seen as a disadvantage.

There is some hope that Labour have finally realised that the Corbynista Communists make them unelectable. Perhaps with a competent opposition, the Tories might become competent. However they are still very much Labour Light.
Douglas Murray for example recently did an interview where he was scathing of British Police and pointed directly at the fact they have had a Conservative Home Secretary for 12 years who has failed to do anything remotely conservative.

Can't remember who said it, but the comment was made that she can't be stupid or she wouldn't have been in Cabinet for ten years. They got that wrong. She's talking about difficult economic headwinds, but she herself was party to creating the difficulties. Her attempts to blame Putin are treated with the derision they deserve.
As for Kwazi Kwarteng who she chose to implement her finance policies, he must have been a record setter. Shortest ever tenure? I seem to recall TDL posting that he thought Kwarteng would be a good finance minister? Maybe Kwarteng will get another shot in a decade or two.

The lettuce cost 60 pence (NZ$1.19).
It would take 84,033 lettuce to buy a National Mp.
Which will only take about 3.2 acres of land. or maybe a 1 if we do three harvests.

Saw an interview with a Tory politician. He was saying that while there are a number of crises facing the nation, nobody in the governing party is devoting any time to those. They are all scheming to turn the leadership crisis to their own best advantage.
Another commenter suggested looking outside recent cabinet members, all of whom were selected only for loyalty to Johnson and to Brexit and most of whom were not noted for their intelligence. There are thought to be people on the back benches better suited to leadership positions. A reshuffling of recent cabinets will bring to mind the deck chairs on the Titanic.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/oct/23/boris-johnson-exit-from-tory-leadership-race-avoids-likely-humiliation
The former prime minister’s statement confirming his decision to not stand was a classic of this Johnson genre: equal parts bullish insistence about his own ability to triumph, and a pretend modesty that he is choosing another path for the sake of unity.
In reality many observers – and many Conservative MPs – remain deeply dubious about Johnson’s claim that he had secured the support of 102 parliamentary colleagues, given that fewer than half this number had said so publicly.
The first of those was not impossible, especially as Rishi Sunak, by now an apparent near-certainty to become the next prime minister, remains far from hugely popular with Tory members, some of whom blame him for precipitating Johnson’s downfall in July by resigning as chancellor.
But probably the very best outcome Johnson could have hoped for would be to emerge as the leader of a party where about two-third of its MPs think he is unfit for office, some even threatening to defect or resign if he took over again

It's probably just as well Sunac got himself appointed by the last man standing method. I'm not sure the Tory membership would have been able to resist voting for a white face if there was one available.
The main point of interest for me was who he'd select for his cabinet. He must have more MPs to pick from than most of his predecessors, many of these have had experience, thus avoiding the non-performers of Johnson's cabinet. But no. He's retained some well established losers. He has made his job rather more difficult than it needed to be. Be interesting to see if he can even acknowledge what Britain's primary problem is. Nobody else will.
He's supposedly very bright. He can be tough if needed, but reportedly discussions with him can deteriorate to a somewhat childish level. Let's see if he can last longer than 44 days.
