Tomorrow, you should follow the King's example.

And pour a nice hot, cup of tea.
Those of Scottish blood are allowed whisky.
Those of Scottish blood are allowed whisky.
Me, half English / half Scottish ancestors. Perhaps a cup of tea with a wee dram thrown in?
Tomorrow, you should follow the King's example.
Dress up.
March around.
Look magnificent
And put on a silly hat!
But that's what I do every day. Doesn't everyone?

I think we should all draw the line at shagging Camilla.

I live near the intersection of King and Charles street, so today the road is closed for 5 hours from 9.30 for a street party to celebrate and have a meet the neighbours session, might be time to mow the lawn

At last something interesting about something boring.
I’m going to enjoy a good chuckle with or without suitable beverage as the lefty media who keeps telling us how toxic white male power/privilege figures are and rants about evils of colonial oppression undertakes jet airliner travel to the very centre of all that alleged stuff to bask in it’s glorious glow to prostitute themselves for ratings and ad revenue.

They should have done away with Kings and Queens about 500 years ago.
What bollocks. I am just glad I am not back in England having to deal with this shit, instead I have a nice bottle of malt, no TV and back copies of my favourite magzine to get through.
Fucking Germans.

Both the Lego Movie and the Batman Lego movie are far better and far deeper than they have any right to be.
But then, Lego itself is far better and far deeper than a kids toy has any right to be - so it's very fitting.

Jalapeño and sour cream with Bonnet Pepper sauce. Was damn fine. Some Rabbit Island Sav and Kapiti Vanilla bean ice creams. (Again kids to please).
Fantastic life.
Out riding tomorrow in Wairarapa. Love to be out in the dirt but shoulder not up to it yet.
Food, alcohol, motorcycles. What more could a man want?
Well I've had a cold so might leave the sex with a beautiful women till tomorrow.
So what we talking about? Some self important royal fucks from a shitty cold Island we had some historical history with?

I watched some of it. Holy shit. People playing dressups and appealing to their invisible friend in the sky. Why doesnt he do something useful like have the Tories put in the tower of london then beheaded?

Watched most of it (except for a couple of snoozes) and I think it's good that it was captured as a historical record, but not so good for the long term survival of the monarchy, due to everybody looking a bit uncomfortable and embarrassed (to me, anyway, including Charles). Some rituals are better kept mysterious I think, otherwise people will realise that it's all just a bit silly.
All the horses and marching in the rain was impressive though.

Both this and the Queens funeral - they sure put on a good show, particularly the military elements.
Well I'm surprised. We watched the start while we got prepared to watch a movie later in the evening but finished up just watching it until they left the abbey. It was not rivetting but was watchable for me as the commentators talked a lot about the history of such things and gave some interesting detail of the day ... rather than what designer everyone was wearing.

Well I guess the joke is on me. We tried to watch, and did watch a considerable amount of One flew over the cuckoo's nest. I know it's supposed to be a classic and I do recall having seen the end years ago. But it was just too boring. I'd rather rewatch Cocoon, but not really. So we watched an episode of Archer and I laughed, so it was ok in the end. All the news this morning seems to be Charles getting married to God, or whatever the point of this all was. It'll blow over when whoever comes after the millenials votes to eliminate them off the next series in favour of strictly come twerking.
The Colonation. Bah humbug.

It's warm out with minimal traffic in the 'rapa. Draconian speed reductions in SH2 from Featherston , but I avoid those pretty much.
Ride before they become universal and enforced by technology.
Dog save the kingy.
Actually if he had any power he'd use his influence to try remove that section of UK governance that has sidestepped Democracy for generations. The house of Good Lord. S.

Me too. I wasn't overly interested in watching it but once started I was hooked to the end. Mind you the big titted sword wielding woman made it more viewable. Don't they always.
Way too much of the religious clap trap and choir music though. Those Bishops hijacked the event and should have been on a time-out switch.
After living in Britain long ago I am a fan of the monarchy, mainly because I see it as living history. History is good, it's important and shouldn't be brushed under the carpet just because some people no longer consider it right for their version of our oh so perfect society. It's still history, with the good and bad, and deserves to be preserved. The idea that we should pick and choose which parts of mankind's history and evolution should be preserved and which hidden or forgotten is a foolish path. The British Monarchy has evolved into the right balance. We try to preserve historical artifacts, buildings and sites like Stonehenge so why not a living link over 2,000 years in the making. With all the depressing bad news we face every day; wars, storms, pandemics, floods, global warming, mass shootings, the demise of petrol engines, what's so bad about 20m people enjoying one day of celebration. Don't be a kill joy, I enjoyed something to smile about for a change.
Hey if you want let's try a constitutional system of Government like Russia, or Sundan or Somalia or Iran or North Korea or Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia. Yeah, they've been well run, safe, stable nations with lots of civil freedoms for centuries.

Interesting examples there. Russia, Iran and Saudi were until recently oppressive monarchies, actually Saudi still. Swap Tsar and Shah interchangeable with King. The concept is the same. Mandate from Dog to rule over subjects. Birthright.
Yes Britain Evolved, but the history of how, shows that it was necessary to strip power from the King and also try remove the religious dogma controlling politics.
. The regarded us so lowly that we got Australia's flag with the stars a bit more red and the big one removed. Actually there are about 20 countries that still have the union Jack on them to remind us that we are thier bitches.
Thanks Dave. That's my point. Unlike those you mentioned the British monarchy has evolved for the better and that's worth celebrating. We are no longer oppressed by a King or Tsar or Shah or churches. Although it felt like those Bishops did try to oppress me with their preachings.
After suffering Tamaki's rent-a-church mob dickheads screaming 'I want my freedom' last year let's all scream 'I want my culture and heritage'.
And can a Mod please correct the thread title spelling for this auspicious occasion.

To be honest, for me, it's more - I'd like my culture and heritage not to be actively shat on by ungrateful academics funded with taxpayer money.
Not a very high bar I know - but gosh wasn't it nice for one day, that there was law and order, the professional protestors with their trucks full of professionally printed placards were arrested, The union jack was flying and for a moment we remembered that actually there is such a thing as being British and Britishness and (for all it's flaws) it is a rich culture.

Thanks Pete, I almost looked that up as I wasn't 100% on that, the result is largely the same. Mind you they got the name of another country slightly tweaked:nya:. And we. . . Oh well.
Can we have a national anthem referendum?

I propose Poi Eh, happy tone and takes us all back to a time this nation was successful and everyone happy and getting along before the academics started deconstructing society....
We could swap it out for the Hakka too and lull foreign sports teams in false sense of security. The Hakka been overdone, more poi eh
Btw anyone know what the lyrics mean, asking for a friend

Btw for those unhappy with our colonial past and the monarchy you could try the opposite. Feeling persecuted? Well being a refugee is highly fashionable these days. Just get yourself a dinghy, caravan or hide in a lorry and start a new life in a friendly non oppressive country like USA, Britain or Australia. You’ll get a free house and free money.
To be honest, for me, it's more - I'd like my culture and heritage not to be actively shat on by ungrateful academics funded with taxpayer money.

Well said. It was nice. and what's so bad about that. For a moment I even felt gay but quickly remembered that word has also been hijacked and I'm not allowed to feel gay anymore.
