Last one I saw was when I was at Budget. Aussie mate of Kirby's had found it in the red center somewhere and shipped it to NZ. Even after the mandatory steam clean it was full of red dust. I got it running for him and to the point where it was safely ridable.
Once it left the workshop I never saw it again. I'd suspect it's sitting somewhere in ChCh just as it left me.
Someone will be able to give you Kirby's phone no if you want to follow it up.

Thought you were long term ChCh. Trev Kirby started and ran Budget for yonks. See Sam at Mega as it is now for a phone no.
Edit No idea what Trev's memory is like now or if he's kept in touch with the guy who had the bike. It was around '87.

Got one. Now for the restoration because it's too far gone for a conservation job which would have been my preference.

Well done. First thing to look at is the front drum brake. Iron liner in a magnesium hub. Known to have corrosion issues - as in the liner coming loose due to incompatible metals. Worse if it's been damp.

This is a later model with alloyl hubs. Will replace the brake shoes as a matter of course. Cheers
