The West Coast is always inviting. some of the best roads reside over the hill from Canterbury, the big trouble can be with the stuff that falls from above.
The Madhatter Rally is a reimagined concept of the rally. And I must say it is a damn good one. The turn out may have been average... but don't let the water dampen your spirits.

many moons ago i was riding the west coast.We stopped at Fox Glacier for fuel,but all the pumps were busy. As i waited i noticed that the kerb channels were very very deep. A few moments later filling (under a roof) the heavens absolutely opened,and i realised why the kerb channels ere so deep!

... seem to remember the kerbs in central waihi were deep too - old, crappy condition - something to do with run-off and flooding from the mine
