Waiting for a WoF at AA GI last weekend and this arrived. I didn't even know there was a sports touring version.

Room for Tshirt and undies and sneakers in those panniers and a dress for the lady on the other side.
-Wet weather gear? Sorry, had to leave that behind. :brick:

BMW K1 set the benchmark for tiny panniers. Toothbrush on one side, gold Amex on the other. Sorted

The engineer who designed those was the same guy who had earlier designed the racing 250 six. He had visited a USAF base and been 'shown around' an F4 Phantom. The orange on black instruments on the CBX reflect what he saw on the Phantom. He reportedly also had an exhaust made that sounded like a Phantiom but the people higher up the food chain didn't think that was appropriate. Pity.

it didn't work as a race bike and they didn't want to waste the costs of producing it, so find another market, what i couldn't understand was why when they built the CB900FZ with sidecovers that actually merged properly into the tank and tailpeice, and were all the same coloutm the CBX's were three separate panels, and the sidecovers were a black while the tank and tailpeice the colour of the bike, that was weird

That glorious engine, then putting the power down through plastic swingarm bushes.

opportunity lost to create a Z2300 V-12.

David Edwards from Cycle World bought a CBX-B as a sports tourer years ago. Basically I think because he always wanted one, so his "I love this bike" is a bit biased.

Well, my man servant who follows dutifully behind in the Bentley, incase the weather starts to look worrisome and we wish to swap places or i just want to cuddle the good lady in the backseat while the driver follows the manservant.

why, the six sounded nice, like a mk3 zephyr at idle, heard a drysdale V8 once, wasn't nice to me two many, would suspect a v12 to be the same, so many pipes it lost it's character

You want a VTwin for real character. Principally a NSR500V.

Sounds like two CR250s drag racing each other.

Nah! I heard that Ferrari V12 last year the NZGP was at Ardmore. Pat Hoare's IIRC. It sounded great.

Nice, another big hunk of motorcycle.... around 79/80 one was entered for Bathurst with Gary Thomas on board.
Might have been pipped by a CB900 Hatton (Tony) on the line ? Good scrap tho !
