I've seen the videos, and are quite sure that they would not behave like this in Jesus presence? The very same man that liked to wear a dress and tell stories to strangers and their children.
The churches leader fully endorsed and orchestrated the attack. They act more like a gang of bikie thugs than a christian church. Surely it is time to rip their snouts out of the tax free gravy train?
Sanitarium too, but that is a whole different story.

I say get rid of all the tax free status for religious groups/Cults, plus sterilise and perform lobotomies on conspiracy theorists. they clearly don't need they frontal cortex and have no use for the below average levels of intelligence they originally possess.

I say get rid of all religion and while we are at it anyone who mentions Left or Right except in terms of giving directions.

Up until now my only problem with the tax free status of churches was Sanitarium foods, Weetbix etc, who I understand are a business but don't pay tax because they are owned by a church. That gives them a significant advantage over the businesses they are in competition with.

My immediate concern with Destiny is their motorcycle storm troopers. It's difficult, too difficult(?), to distinguish them from a 1%er gang. Their patches should be added to the banned list.

This popped up in my Facebook feed today. I still don't know if I'm repulsed or amused.

Are we suggesting we revoke their tax-exempt status because we dont like their Politics
Or are we suggesting that they are not fulfilling the obligation of their Tax-exempt status.

To be clear - I do not like Destiny Church - and whilst on this issue there is some parralels between my views and theirs - I consider this more to be the broken clock that is right twice per day than anything else.

That said - the calls to end their Tax exemption seem to come most loudly when people disagree with what are traditional christian viewpoints.

Views that are sincerely held. Something something freedom of Religion something.

I have long considered Destiny Church to be a rort, but in much the same way that I consider many big and popular churches as rorts. Ones that require full-time paid positions (totally not for profit) and curiously have all the paid positions and contractors be related (in some way) to the leader of the church....

In the same breath though - if we are talking about that, we have to ask a much deeper question about the nature of Charity, how it works - how we define it, in such a way that we differentiate between an Organization that is a legitimate charity and one that is not without political biases.

I am not sure that such a question is answerable or that we as a nation can have sufficient debate such to answer it.

To conclude: There are reasons why I think Destiny Church should not be tax exempt, but none of them have to do with their political views and all of them have to do with what I percieve as unjust enrichment of Brian Tamaki and his family under the guise of donations to a charity.

Don’t they know you can order books online now, and even the cheapest motel has a free bible in the side drawer.

Just watched the John Campbell series on TVNZ+ "under his command" about tamaki and density. What a loathsome odious slimy piece of mini-trump shit tamaki is. IRD should be going after him with everything they have. Tax evasion is what usually beings criminals like him down.
