Cars and bikes.

Seriously quick cars require serious dollars, whereas a bike just needs to be something like a 'busa with a turbo.

Really interesting.

No car reached 200mph, yet three turbo 'Busas did.

The hype, a few years ago, around the launch of Kawasaki's Supercharged H2 (it'll make 300hp and do 400km/h) is clearly shown to be marketing BS.

The 1962 Triumph 350! Now that was fast for its age and engine size. Perhaps (?) in a streamliner?

unlikely, graeme cole red devil racing has been working on a 270 degree crank for his bike for a while, he built about 15 3ta trumpys for classic racing a while ago.

thats interesting. They have about 2.8 km run up so I wouldnt think its a traction thing...or maybe it is. Didnt Sofoglu do about 400 km hr on one?

From the last event (I assume, there's no records for 2023 and 2024).

1 Scott Wilkins Kawasaki H2R. S/C. 998cc 364.50km/h (one way) 358.40km/h (two way average)

No mention if it's stock or not.

yip. miles likes expensive bling, he's in finance, so will insist on getting fly buys at a gas station too.

its not stock, engine internals are, has intercooler, supercharger mods, and gearing, on C12 fuel, 300 plus HP at the wheel on BRM's dyno, also gearing changes,

its also for sale is anyone interested,

thanks,

Cole Scammell on a turbo / nitros Busa beat the record last year, he did 377 one way, not sure why they are not on the website,

here is the onboard from the 364km/h run .

on the my run above it shows above it shows 380 on the speedo, was was 364 km/h on the timing, Sofoglu is a fair bit smaller than me which would help a lot, and had a fair bit more tech knowledge behind him, so i presume they had done similar mods to us, with maybe a bit more gearing, and a longer flat road, and much wider than GOudies Rd,

Photos taken of my 350 Triumph in 1970 at Santa Pod Dragway, UK. The pistons used to come apart at the oil control ring because the mean piston speed was too high with the standard 350 stroke and a supercharger. To reduce the mean piston speed, I machined a short stroke crank from EN24 and mated it to a cut down 500 barrel and 500 head to keep it as a 350. It solved that problem but lost some torque. It ran in the mid 10's with a terminal speed of just over 200 km/hr. Only did one standing start mile at RAF Greenham Common. A top speed of 215 km/hr I think. Grossly overgeared for the stiff headwind. It could have been developed a lot more but marriage, a new job and emigrating to NZ put paid to that! I still love to see these record attempts - balls of steel and deep pockets :Punk:
