I see the 2025 IOMTT has just finished in the last few minutes and not a whisper on here about it. Seemes the site is more interested in this day in history, trump and vaccines that happened over half a decade ago.
Shame that.

There have been good summaries on YouTube all through practice week and the races. They are sill there. In much of it though the bikes are just a blur.

yip, gets better every year, they seem to be catering for the people tuning while not looking after those on the island as much these days. The on line package was a bargain at I think $54 too.

Rutter had an off in SuperTwins, Hickman had an off as well (Senior practice?). Carl Cox was there (one of MD's sponsors). McGuinness 7th in Superbike.... great effort.

I think it’s that we all get the latest news about IOM or whatever event in our newsfeeds that a social media conversation about it a couple days later feels bit redundant unless there’s an element of what will happen next etc.

Was going to post Wicked clip of Dunlop kissing curb with front tyre at massive speed kicking rear full lock sideways but thought everyone will see it anyway.

Finding the same phenomenon in work conversations too in regards that everyone has usually seen/read pretty much same stuff. We did mange real world TT conversation an normal people think it’s quite crazy little do they know it’s not far off some peoples Sunday rides lol

Social media is junk food for the brain in between eating “healthy” information about what ever cool stuff your into, bit like tuning into news talk zb et al on a lonely late night drive.

Shame the Senior TT was cancelled,

MItch Rees did well as a newbie,

cool to hear Robert Holden's name mentioned as the last rider to win a TT on a ducati in Michael Dunlop won the SUpersport TT,

yeah he did, what about the newcomer sidecar swinger who was third and the newcomer sidecar team 2 x 5th placings, that is outstanding, mid silver replica territory too. i have a list of the first 45 replicas kiwis won, 30 silvers and 25 bronzes showed they punched well above their weight

I aw some youtube stuff on Mitch,and some mad footage of the bikes on the ferry. The ferries seem to be fitted out just to take bikes. rows and rows of metal railings to tie the bikes in gear on the sidestands.
Praps someone needs to start a thread each year

I started a thread two years ago but there were some negative comments about the TT so I haven't bothered since.

Sky has highlights of the races. This year they also have a doco that is basically an onboard of Hicky's 135 mph lap from 2018 with him commenting. It's called The Ultimate Challenge, worth a look if you can find it.

That's a but cynical. On the motogp thread there is a fair amount of interest. To be fair it is accessible on TV and exciting. Maybe it just naturally captures more attention for those simple reasons.

A mate recently asked if I'd like to go to iom.
I thought about it and I'd rather go see Malaysia GP perhaps (done Philip Island 6 times). UK is a long haul and expensive.

Also roadbikes these days. A mate went to the Classic and saw an RS67(?) fire up. V4 125cc 2 stroke from crazy era of GP bikes. That would interest me more than another gixer, thou.

TT pass was i think $54 this year, and highlights on you tube everyday so accesible, Moto GP is a long term interest, for years for many and a hobby for many, the TT a one off allbeit two week event. Been to the TT, was lucky enough to spend 21 days on the island and we had 10 bikes to run in, brand new yzf600's so did many miles, took me about 27 years after to get to a GP, was just too busy here following the racing, not as much of interest but as a volunteer.

I remember talking to Blair Deglaham (sp) after he returned (he was one of the hangers-on at DynoTech, as was Bruce). I think he said an NZ contingent went with 10 FZR600s supplied, so not sure if year before or my faulty memory.

He did relay a story of a chap hitting a stone wall in front of him and having his arm ripped off. I have to admit that chilling story dampened any enthusiasm and reminds me of it when I see a stone wall.

Didn’t stop Blair pedalling with some success at Northwest races.

Degerholm, i was there and don't recall anything of the sort, Blair lost the use of his arm racing, not before he became the fastest ever kiwi there first. Reality is they do just short of 9000 miles in a normal superbike race, how does that compare with even say a whole season of moto gp out of curiosity?

They might do 70 laps over the 3 days in MotoGP, say 210 miles. The Senior alone at the IoM is about 220 miles. I really have no idea how they do it.

I can still remember where I was standing in the dyno room when he told this story, I had no reason to believe he embellished it. Said the guy had died, but not where he came from I think. Assume it was all in a newcomers practice(?), but it was a long time ago and that was just details.

Next time I saw him was probably on TV ages later and not thereafter. Didn’t know he’d been hurt, pity.

It sounded like someone had lost their arm and survived, there was a death there, but no one with any respect discussed the details, Blai also did a number of years.
Mark Farmer died on a Britten, two riders stopped to assist, The three of us went to a bar that night, we didn't talk about his injuries, why would you?
