Kiddies sunnies on a bike

Years ago I grabbed a set of childs sunnies at a $2 shop as they didn't have anything else, turns out it was one of my best ever riding equipment purchase.

The arms wouldn't reach my ears so when i went from a sunny to a dark space i could flick my head forward and ditch them in a split second, in time i'd flick my visor up and reset them, previously you'd be pretty much stuck with a period of time where you couldn't really see, worse in winter as those dark shady corners often have moisture.
Today I stuffed up and grabbed a normal pair and hit the rimutakas on sunset and it reminded me how much superior the small set works.

Has anyone else tried this, it's a game changer.

I get kids frames for my regular specs as they are narrower and fit better in helmets whereas some full sized frames get caught up within the helmet lining and need re-adjusting to get the vision correct. Cheers.

Its been a few years between bikes. I didnt wear glasse last time. Glasses are a pain. Very scary incident on Hutt Motorway .For some reason my glasses suddenly fogged up.Couldnt see a thing at first.Newish helmet and in a bit of panic i fumbled to get the visor up(it latches in the fully shut position) Finally I did.Looking over the very top of my glasses i could just see the lane markings to stay in lane. I like the sun shield visor not too dark.If it at all cool i treat my glasses before ride with antifog stuff

As a fair weather biker i run a black visor but I don't seem to suffer shade focus problems too badly, hopefully that continues. I take a clear antisocial visor when touring.

What i do hate is trying to ride with the visor open. My eyes water unbearably.

I've only been caught out once in recent years with black visor at night. Fortunately I have a pair of safely glasses tucked under the seat and could wear those to get home ok.

From what I've seen around the ideal seems to be a helmet that does all of things, pinlock style visor to stop fogging and internal retractable dark visor, although I'm sure there are reasons why this still won't work some of the time.

In the meantime I just use smoke tinted safety glasses from the electrical suppliers. UV rated and not super dark so work ok pretty much until the sun is properly gone, have nice rounded ends on the arms so don't poke holes in me or the helmet padding, and cost about $6 so no great drama when they inevitably get dropped and stood on while putting gear on.

Thats what I have.Shoei Neotec 3,has all of the above. Pinlock still fogs/frezzes in very cold conditions,Ie leave CHCH at -1 temp doesnt go above 5 deg but mostly at 1 to 2 all the way from CHCH the the coast heading North. Solution was to ride with visor up and sunshield down(it was sunny) Pinlock may not fog up but glasses still can..The sun visor is quite a light tint so low light still not bad.Have perscription sunnies if the sheild isnt adequate

all that takes time, mine is flick of the head and the glasses are gone, diving into a dark corner is a hazard in itself, hence my reasoning here

Not a fan of Pinlocks as they can get a bit weird at night with car headlights. Usually the helmet vents keep the visor clear, but I have been caught out in low cloud when everything mists up. I have some antifog stuff but never remember to take it with me.

A couple of times touring down the passes or upper East cape have been caught with inferior pillock or none and thought this would be a silly way to die on tricky roads so vowed to get better visor. Shoei pinlock seems good on my clear visor.

Again, don't ride at night usually but didn't notice pinlock when rode last bit of a ride getting darker.
