I've noticed that I seem to get about 8 to 15km per tank extra if I fill the SV at Caltex petrol stations. I haven't done any proper tests or anything but I'm positive that I can get slightly more km's out of a tank full of Caltex.

Anyone else notice a difference in different brands?

P.S. Caltex generally seem to charge about 1 cent more per liter.

P.P.S. I don't work for/own Caltex.

can't say i have noticed anything like that before but i did notice this weekend it is costing me slightly less to fill my bike up ,, has petrol gone down in price recently? having a company vehical for the past ten years and only using my bike in the weekends i dont tend to take much notice of fuel prices

my mate used to say that he would get more from a Shell fill up, myself however, wouldnt have a clue. They always get chewed up fast.

I've noticed a change too.About the time the price started to sky rocket,My car, which used to be happy on 91 started to suffer detonation. So I started using 96.I recently filled it with 91 and it runs great again.I've notice the bike seems to like Caltex now, when it used to be noticably smoother on Gull.

Yes, 'they' (the Big4 Robber Oil Barons) put it down by 4c/litre before Labour Weekend because they're so nice. And kind. And don't really need the money.

will get back to you on this topic. I've done 150km so far on 10L of caltex premium. Still gotta go 10km into the reserve before the 10L is used up and my reserve light still hasnt come on yet.

Recently i've been getting about 240km from 14-15L of gas from either BP or Gull.

I have been getting 240-250 km from 16 litres with Gull 91. Have just filled up with Mobil 8000 (97.5) as an experiment. Will post results of consumption performance etc when it's available. :sherlock:

Caltex has an extra detergent additive that is quite good at keeping injectors clean. That'll help.

It's to do with the different additives that each company uses to promote their product. See here for the changes to fuel components with regard to emisions; http://www.caltex.co.nz/products/fuels_automotive.asp.
You have to be careful sometimes when trying differents petrol blends as some can burn differently and may do damage to your engine.

I never notice any difference between brands. I just fill it up and ring the tits off the bike. Some days I'm more on the ball than others, as for if the bike is on the ball or not, it often makes me think if it's just me or not.

I always get to 200ks and fill up around 18 bucks or so. If it's a good rapin, then about 200ks is about $20+. At the track/coro etc, I get to 150ks and the fuel light comes on

Not NZ fuel. The only damage you can do is by using an octane rating that's too low.

I've seen them advertise that but I thought it was probably just marketing BS.

Maybe its true? Who knows?

Me too - I'm running race fuel at the moment...runs the same as it does on 91...big deal.

I haven't noticed any other difference, such as:
Maximum Power
Better Acceleration
Better Driveability and Smoothness
as claimed on their website.

Just slightly better fuel economy

The difference is minimal in terms of additives. They're all much of a muchness. You get better economy when you fill up in the morning don't ya? When the fuel in the tanks is cooler it's more condensed, therefore you get slightly more?
I dunno my shitter isn't so finely tuned that I notice a difference, I just bang along and wish for a new bike to left on my doorstep by a mysterious rich uncle!

The base petroleum product for all the major companies is the same shipment. It comes off the boat, is processed in the one plant and is then pumped to the Wiri terminal. Then a Shell truck drives up and as the petrol is being pumped into the truck, Shells additives are mixed in. Then a Caltex truck rolls up and the Caltex additives are mixed in. Same with BP and Mobil. So the difference between the product is the additives themselves and nothing else.

So find out who chucks in lots of Nitro and go for them :niceone:

P.S. This is also why the cost of petrol is so closely linked. A few years back there was a minor price spike cos BP fucked up and paid too much for the tanker so had to pass it on to the others.

For some weird reason I don't like running on mobil 98 but I love BP's 98 I think it's all in my head.

I've got a mate that works for one of the big 4, I'd ask him about it but I can't because he's on conference in Mexico at the moment.

Give's you an idea of the profits these companies are making!

I have noticed about a 20km extra out of a tank of 96 or 98 (same diff on the clock), compared to 91.
However i don't think it is very brand specific. Heck maybe it also just a coincidence??

I never used to be able to get $20 worth of gas in my tank, these days I can get $25. Is my tank getting bigger, like stretching, or what?
Ahhh it's OK here comes the nice nurse with my medication
