I am officially the proud owner of a 1990 HONDA CBR250RR 4stroke 4 cylinder watercooled mmm oh dear I need another curtain. This one in fact (http://colemanssuzuki.bikepoint.co.nz/DesktopDefault.aspx?UsedBikeID=993232&TabID=5416&Alias=colemanssuzukiNZ)
no more of this 'memhmhmmememe im not going on rides cos my bikes too underpowered' stuff
Thanks for the help sarge, I said I was gonna buy a bike today and I did.
for those of you that dont know I exploded my old bike on monday by supermaning it in the passing lane and not noticing I was at 12kRPM (starts redlining at 9 finishes at 13) real good. copper rings all shattered in the barrell. Ill be fixing it up in a few months and selling it if I can to recoupe some of my losses

Good machines, just not my kettle of fish really. And us zxr riderss hatess them dirty cbrssssss *choke choke*
Got geared cams and no rattly camchain which is great. Although the clutch sound of a cbr squidding it off up the road gets up my nose. Jesus, sounds like the clutch is made of tinfoil or something :argh:

Yeah bro...'dude' was sorta directed at Pyro more...give the dude some comfort about his new baby :) ...and coming from one with time spent at redline and CBR crash stats like me you should feel comfy Pyro :)
I love the gear driven cams aye...
what you mean about the clutch? Something I can't have paid much attention to. Only prob I ever had with mine was first to second gear slippage later in life...probably the only weak point it had, and no real drama anyway.

But the classic was yesterday afternoon when you left Colemans on the cruiser...
There is Pyrocam taking off and goes to change gears....
I have never laughed so much mate...
He couldnt find the gear lever....
He forgot he was on a cruiser or never thought to check where they were.
Cos there is his foot swinging around going no where when trying to change into second gear.
When he first got on it he turned it on and took off.
Pyrocam had to look down to find the gear lever.
TIP: the cruiser has forward control levers.
But yet when he got on the CBR he checked where everything was located.

You ride them hard because its more fun then don't you!
I was pisstaking by saying ZXR riders are more capable and ride harder in general than CBR owners
Enough shit-stirring, enjoy the bike pyro! If you are up for a slow ride tomorrow I'd love to come along as I don't have any gym or work tomorrow after I come back from Ardmore. You take the lead and you set the speed eg no new bike pressure!

hehe. new bike pressure. shouldnt be a problem. I'll be easing myself into it I think as its a different riding position. but the speed isnt the issue. once i'm as comfortable with it as I was with the rgv Ill be taking it all up the coromandel and 22 etc etc. might do opononi again cos that forest just kicks arse.

I did the silverdale loop we did last lunchtime ride. great fun. definately doesnt have an issue keeping up with anything. handles like a dream. and on the way back I stopped into a track to test the speed and it got to 180 before I slowed it down.
figured out how to make sure I can get it into neutral. just need to make sure its in first first. (ie accelerate a bit when in first) and it slots in nicely.

No you can't and don't think of it. Unless you have a 600+ cc bike and can ride like TS/MR/Frosty/LB/WT/Death_Inc/etc...... meaning you've done "some high speed riding"....
HP cars can easily pull up to around 250 and there will be another 2 - 3 cars heading your way in the opposite direction, whether they cut you off or you manage to find an off road is a one in a thousand chance, then there's the bloody eagle. Then the charge of failing to stop, $1000's in fines, having to walk home, court appearances......... ahhh:argh: ...... enough........:sweatdrop
And despite what the local gossip mongers say a car is faster than a bike around corners, it just depends on whether the piggy feels like it or not - and remember these fellas do it for a living.
Besides ZXR's and CBR's are not that fast - sure they can get to 200 - but most of that is academic - they don't really have enough acceleration to play with after 150.

is that riding hard or like a nana? I think if it were the case Id have to hope like hell I could lane split. albeit cops and go down buslanes etc.

Is that 200k on any road on any day?? Or is it down a smooth, straight downslope.
Does it accelerate hard until 200 and hit the limiter?? Or does it go hard till 150-170 then eventually get to 200 in a few seconds?? How much acceleration do you have between 160-200??
Will test my ZXR when it gets a set of decent tyres and I stop the 1 drop a second oil leak that coats my rear tyres:argh: .... so far it gets to 160 accelerating as hard as a standard little 250 accelerates.... haven't taken it over 170 meters a day yet.

29th October 2005, 06:49
Silly man, I wouldn't do it on the road (I don't speed), but it's on a flat "race track".
It does accelerate slower from about 160, but if you're doing 160 round the corner anyway then that's not a problem
When you go out and do it, don't crash

when I was on the race track track the other day I went around a corner at 180. but at the same time I wasnt exactly looking at the speedo at the time and it was a easy corner anyway. nothing 90 degree or anything. its hard to explain what it looks like. but i think its kinda similar to the one after the first hill after the downward slope on the NW. when your heading into town. but I wouldnt know if its exactly the same without doing 180 on it. which i dont. cos thats illegal. and i hope none of you do it either.....
