College Hill is in Ponsonby - where the accident happened.
College Road is in St Johns.
College Road is also in Northcote.

Darn, assumed it was college hill rd.
Wises should have taught me that there are usually more than one road with the same name.

Just me or are these annoucements getting closer together?
Perhaps linked to all the cage drivers switching to bikes to save fuel?

Was he a HOG member or just a Harley rider?

Speedy recovery to the Hog ride I say

Speedy recovery for sure..two broken legs has got to suck,my concern when i read that (not that it is the case here)..i see a lot of HD's/Cruisers that have very high handlebars combined with low seat heights where if you were to run into something you are fooked because of the bars.I know first hand what happens when you hit something solid, the bike stops, you don't.

Lou - I don't know....
As of last night he was in surgery for over 6 hours...
So there must be more injuries than just his two broken legs.
Mind you it could depend on where the bones broke as well.
His step daughter hasn't replied back in the thread this morning.

Update from TM:
Thanks to everyone for all your wishes etc. Bit of an update. He has 3 rods in his right leg from hip to ankle, really thats about all I know of his injuries at the moment. He is able to have visitors this arvo so off there very soon.
He is in Hosp for two weeks, then unable to walk for another 2 months, then finally will be able to use crutches. Bike was not a total write off though $9000 in damage done. He is definitely very luck.
I agree with a lot of people that there are a lot of idiots on the road whether it by cars or bikes! My hubbie and I have two bikes (old one and a very new one)..... I love going out on both. Was even going to get my bike licence this year. But I am now having second thoughts.
He was not associated to any harley group (chapter), is just a Hog rider. Once again thanks to everyone. I will update when we get back from hosp. =)

Update on the Hog rider at 9.20pm from TM Member:
- Back from hospital - Only the on leg broken (informed both yesterday!) so that's great. He had surgery again this morning to clean something out of his leg. Another surgery tomorrow, then one more next week. Leg will then be put into cast and he can come home. Still going to be at least 2 - 3 months before he is able to stand and a lot longer than that before he can walk.
Thankfully he can't remember anything after trying to avoid being hit. His first visitor today was one of the witnesses that looked after him until ambulance got there. Apparantley they (the witnesses).... were just commenting on how it looked like this woman was about to do a u-turn with out looking then the next thing she did and took him out.
It took approx 2 hours to get him out from underneath the parked car that he slid under (on the bike). Of course his main concern today is the bike, also very annoyed that his brand new (4 days old) Shoei helmet is stuffed. Great advertising for Shoei helmets though as skid marks down entire right side, and visor pretty scratched (so you can see what position his head was in as he was sliding).
He is bloody lucky to get off with cuts bruises and a broken leg (femur broken completley through in one place, lower leg in two places).

Thank the Lord he is still alive!!! Please pass on our best Crashe. This accident happened not far from where I work in Vermont St, Ponsonby. I see a lot of cagers do stupid things in this area. You take your life in your hands as a pedestrian on the crossings around there. None of the cage drivers look at all. :sweatdrop The ped crossing are a nightmare with two lanes of traffic on Ponsonby Rd up towards Three Lamps. I have nearly been taken out several times!! :crybaby: I am now really careful when crossing the road around there.

To everyone both hear and on TM for all your thoughts. I have printed out both threads and hubbie has taken it up to the hosp for my step father to read. He is in much better spirits today (with some of the drugs wearing off) but obviously in a lot of pain. Of course his only concern is his Harley and brand new Shoei helmet.Thankfully he is okay and more to his delight his bike is fixable.

back from the hosp. Took about 10 mins (drugged up again) and a lot of explaining that what he was reading was messages from people that he did not know wishing him well. He was amazed. It definitely helped cheer him up a bit. I think he will be checking out this site as soon as he can. Thanks once again to all.

Yep when he gets home, get him all signed up on KB..
He will have plenty of spare time on his hands to play on a comp... and chat to other bikers... this place is usually going non stop 24 hours.. cos some are night owls and I dont think some ever sleep..
Do keep an eye on the "Meetings and Events" section as well.. as there is usually some ride organised....
NOOBies and SLOW/MEDIUM means it will be a slower pace ride....
MEDIUM/FAST the pace is up quite a notch...
FAST... now that really means a real fast pace.......
Me, being the "Queen of Slow" on this site... goes on the slower rides...
as I am always coming up the rear of the pack.

got a nice surprise today. 15 Hairy arsed harley riders (those were his words!) turning up at the same time to see my step father. :chase: He was really suprised. Apparantley the guys were the talk of the hospital. And donated a t-shirt (not sure what sort-obviously would be Harley oriented). He has had a really good day today.Eaten for the first time since the accident! Yoghurt, he said that it was no too bad. Believe me anything would be better than what the hosp served him on thursday night. That looked like cat food!

Just thinking about it, this thread is wicked in the respect how riders stick together and give support when needed - something you would never get with cagers..

Yep good ol' hospital food aye...
Its not always the best stuff is it..
Still, he is now allowed solids.... which is great thou...
Soon they will let him go home... to good home cooked food.
Or you could take him in some food.....
I bet the poor nurses wondered what on earth was happening when all those bikers came into the ward.... :rofl;
Now I wonder where they all parked up their bikes...
There are a few places that are available in the Auckland hospital grounds for m/bikes.

idea where they parked. Can't see too many people asking them to move............can you??

Heck and he only just joined KB as well... so when he gets home he will be able to really chat away with us all... :spudwave: :spudwave:
But he can still ride his Virago thou (cos they are cool bikes - ok I am biased, as I also own one) when he is allowed to ride again, that is until his Harley is back on the road.......
Bruiser - Get well soon and see you back on your bike real soon....

be able to ride the Virago if they still owned it. The accident gave his partner the shits so she has sold it back to the shop.
