Only air farce and the army allowed the slug in this nations Defence force, I would have to try and muster a full beard, with the COs permission of course....

Doesnt MrMelon have a mean Fu Manchu going as well?

PS the navy looks queer enough in the sailor suit, let alone with a wee tickler going in :bleh:

Just had a shave today.

Might partake. What are the rules? Shave on 31st Oct and then grow? Or is existing facial hair allowed?

Will obviously have to get permission if I plan on getting any during the month of Movember. Maybe we could do a comp. $5 entry fee (going to SpankMe) and a grand prize of a KB tshirt (or other piece of clothing).

tradition i suppose : Beards have long been popular with seamen as a sign of manhood. The ancient Hebrews, and also Greeks and Romans, associated beards with wisdom.

--Shute also tried to stop the age-old naval right to grow beards. He was defeated in this effort by one Sub-Lt. Codner RNVR, who invoked King's Regulations & refused the order. A.P. Herbert, an officer in the Hawke Bn, RND, at this time, wrote of this incident in his poem "The Ballad of Codson's Beard."

yea there are rules. i googled movemer

1. There is to be no joining of the mo to side burns – that’s a beard
2. There is to be no joining of the handlebars – that’s a goatie
3. A small complimentary growth under the bottom lip is allowed (aka a tickler)
