Riding to work thursday morning, I'm comming down a road with a cager tail-gating me. Up ahead they are doing some construction on new appartment buildings so I slow down ready for anything. Then when I am about 3 meters away someplain clothed dick walks out into the middle of the street waving for me to stop. I stop fine but typical cager behinds wasn't paying attention.
I hear tyre squelling from behind so let fly the clutch and gas it up a bit to keep from being hit. Soon as the cage stops I stop again this time with my front wheel parked right between the legs of the dick that waved me down.
Heart racing I start yelling at the fuck in front of me, "why are you stopping traffic that suddenly and without a stop-go sign or something ya fucktard" and such. Told him he very nearly bought me a brand new bike cause I would have made sure all fault for it had landed on him, and that if I hadn't been there he probably would have been hit by the car. That guy wouldn't have seen him or stopped in time.
Think I may have scared some sense into him for next time but certainly does bring to light just how inattentive cagers are. Major props to the guys that work on the roads for a living. Even with all the bright orange jumpsuits and heavy signage that has still got to be one of the more extreme everyday jobs I can think of.
