THE GUY FROM THE TRACK TURNED UP AND WANTED TO ROLL HIM OVER AND GET HIS HELMET OFF :weird:
BEST WAIT FOR MEDIC :niceone: I SAID HE`S JUST HAVING A LITTLE NAP
HE WAS OUT FOR A BOUT 4 MIN`S I THINK
CAME ROUND JUST BEFORE AMBO ARRIVED
So long as you were happy with his breathing, waiting for the medics is fine.
If he wasn't breathing, or you couldn't tell, best to get that helmet off ASAP.
No point reviving someone or starting CPR 10 mins after they stopped breathing.
Just glad he's OK.(ish)

HI Peeps
Just got home from the hospital.
When i left they were still doing x-rays, and MRI scans..
I believe he has a fractured or very sore collar bone, possible some cracked ribs, a very sore knee and a lot of concussion. Apart from that.. thanks to some very good gear and a shit load of luck he will be ok...
He is still in hospital... and i will be going back there tonight so i'll pass along all the messages.
The first thing he asks me when he gets out of the ambo is if the R1 is ok.. hahah good boy Daryl...

Please pass on my best wishes to Darryl. He was a lucky boy.... I'm working at Pukekohe at the mo, but happened to be on another job when this happened so he didn't get me looking after him. Didn't get back to Middlemore before the end of my shift so couldn't check up on him either.

Glad to hear his battle wounds are relatively superficial. Sounds like it was an horrific accident. Not looking forward to the "and now" pics of his bike.

Maybe we read it wrong, but to myself and a couple of others, your post reads like a gloat. I always believed it bad etiquette to jump online and rave about another KBers crash as well.
So I called YOU a cock, but then, I was pissed and a bit more tactfull than usual.
As you were, have a nice ride.
Edit: I WAS going to send this as a PM as I don't want to start a shit fight in a serious thread, however, it may serve as a reminder to some that the first place my family and friends are going to hear about a serious accident I've had, should never be a public forum. Thats all.

Yoshi was the first guy to stop and help Darryl, He may be making light of the situation but he is not gloating. Darryl's prang was nasty but from what I have heard and read here is not real serious. Since Yoshi assisted him into the ambo and Darryl had tried to stand up, Yoshi made the right call in posting the info on the forum. I gather that people were able to visit him relatively quickly due to this info being posted (maybe wrong of course).
The forum was the first place I looked to find out how Darryl was doing. I had only met Darryl for the first first time yesterday and therefore interested in his progress.
I agree with you about Darryl or someone else's family finding out about a death or serious accident on the forum. Unfortunately this can happen or thru texts due to our instant communications.
I have noticed the Police communications on serious accidents being posted on the forum pretty quickly. Two of those of late involved KB riders one who had a serious accident and another who sadly died.
I trust that this incident won't escalate.
Finally, Get Well soon Darryl.

loosebruce's way is the best.
I know quite a lot of guys that race or have raced motorcycles - world champs to club men - all of them have broken a collarbone, busted a rib and fucked a knee - all of the good ones anyway. Comes with the territory.
I'd like a dollar for every time i've walked into the kitched and there is rusty, bob or kim, half naked on the bench, moaning with relief as MY WIFE is digging her healing hands into them, re-arranging and manipulating the smashed up and misaligned bits of their bodies as a result of motorcycle racing accidents.
Doesn't stop 'em racing does it.

I could understand it - but nah - I have seen their scars and in some cases the video. and besides - wife schmife - these are people i trust with my MOTORCYCLES.
You hear 'em talk about 'healing hands' - my girl has got them - she channels - sounds sus i know - i didn't believe - till I experienced it - but it's like she can draw the pain out of an injury through her touch. quite remarkable.

I think there will probably be about 10 new posts up by the time I manage to finish typing this out haha!
First of all thank you all SO VERY VERY much for your concern, even those of you I have barely met, thanks again.
I'll run you through my version of the day or what I remember at least.
I had just changed both bikes to "race shift" for a corner or two that was proving tricky on the 400 so was really wanting to just get my head around shifting this way before the PMCC round in Taupo on the 13th.
First session went out on the race bike, and was taking it pretty easy getting to grips with changing the opposite way. Only had a couple of hickups and then it felt pretty natural. Actually cheers WT, I actually remembered it by using the little anecdote (if thats what they are called?) that you told me to remember what way to shift and it worked a treat!
Towards the end of the session I started to push harder and felt like I was going faster than I had done in the first round of the AMCC. Although not timed i would guess I was in the 1.11's somewhere.
Then the second session came along and I thought i'd go out on the R1 to see how it went on the track. Plus a mate from work had some down for a lookie so I had to do some compulsory wheelstanding and general showing off! haha
So yeah I took a few laps to get used to different gearing on the R1 and the enourmous speed difference, I remember seeing 290 on the dash down the straight! Although i'm sure this wasn't a "real" speed. Started getting into the groove of things and was happy to be passing some people that I consider to be reasonably fast. Despite being held up in traffic a bit, Cibby Chick said I got down to 66 sec laps. Which I was pretty happy with despite being slow for what the bike is capable of.
So as the session neared the end, my fuel light had been on for a while (no suprises here for those who now me!) so I thought I'd come in and jump back on the race bike for the last few laps (turns out there was only 1 more lap, should've stayed put! oh well) So I went out and thought I was taking it pretty easy speed wise, well, problem was, compared to the R1 I was probably taking it easy, but for a NC30 with cold tyres on the first lap I was probaly pushing relatively hard.
So anyway I stupidly went up over the R/H corner over the hill (dont know corner names yet) and the bike lost the front. Then all I remember was hanging onto the bike and spinning around facing up and down the track. Next thing I remember I was in an ambulance, so apparently I was uncouncious for a while.
So yeah it was off to middlemore and lots of tests and scans and disturbing tests! I honestly don't know what they can possible learn from sticking that there!!!
Turns out I had snapped my collar bone, broken a few ribs, small puncture to the lung, banged up and bruised knees and back, oh and a bit of .. umm that thing when you foget stuff after hitting your head... ya know, umm, shit I forget now oh yeah concussion haha.
But that was cool as I had copious amounts of morphine to help me out!
Would like to say a HUGE thankyou to those that visited and called:
-Cibby Chick, thank you for everything, i see you even signed some forms for me! ta.
-TS and Chloe, thank you for visiting, was a really nice suprise!, once I managed to sit up and see who it was!
-Quasievil thanks for everything mate, you are the man.
-Cheers Torque for getting in touch.
-Loosebruce, as usual I would like to call you a homo and let you know that your mum is tending my every need for me now ;-) Nah good to catch up bud.
-Thanks V twin raver for checking in on me.
-Thanks to Black yoshi for leaving me a message on the celly.
And BIG thanks to ALL of you who wished me well in this thread, really means a lot guys. Hope to never be in the situation to repay the favour, but should it arise I will be right there for ya's :-)
So now its recovery time, if it wasnt for this damn broken shoulder i'd be back in no time trying to carve up F3... pfft I wish. Figure it might be the start of next year before I have the strength to race again. That's cool though as it will mean two months to try and fix my bike up. From first glance the forks seem ok, although tripple clamps are nackered, tank is nakered, frame is craked. But engine and wheels seem fine. Will put some photos up for you shortly.
If you learn anything from my silly mistake please always make sure your bike is nicely warmed up before you push it!
AND FOR GODS SAKE WEAR GOOD PROTECTION!!!!
I'll try upload a shot of my damaged body and my gear, I'm sure you will see that my gear just paid for itself a hundred time over.
Safe riding all, see you all out there really soon aye. :spudwave:

Well for a colorbone it depends on how bad the brake is mine broken in three place from impact brake so now I have 2/3 of colorbone and it took about 2 years before it i could put pressure on it again but every now and again I have a bit of fall and it takes at least 2 - 3 weeks to get "fit" again. But there is ways around getting such a brake fixed I just knew it was time to stop motocross racing and did not want surgery
