My mother saw this on trademe and wants to get a massive scooter. Is there anyone in Tauranga that wouldn't mind taking a look at it, and making sure that it is in perfect condition and legit. It is a Piaggio X9 250cc scooter with a reserve of $4,000. It also has a larger windshield and heated hand grips. New they are 6500 (inc ORC) for the 2003 model.

If noone puts their hand up I might be able to shoot over there and check it out for you.

I might be able to have a look on Wed afternoon, but will be in Sydney for a few days after that.
If I can make it, and no-one else has stuck their hand up, I will give the guy a call.

I would put my hand up, but I really don't know much about those scooter things

Warren - there isn't a hope in all billy-oh of me getting to see the scooter. However, I suggest you contact the seller.
Mount Motorcycles are the Piaggio agents here (ph 07 575 4190). Ask if MMC have serviced it from new. If yes, give them a ring and ask their opinion of it. If it has been properly serviced, then the cosmetics will be your only concern.

As long as someone can get a quick look at it, just to make sure there is nothing dodgy about it as both this one or a brand new one look like a good deal.

The last scooter I brought was an 2004 SJ125 with 3,300 and a month later at 4,500 it spit the dummy and now needs a new engine. I do not expect something like this to happen again, but I am weary to make sure that the last owner gets it serviced at the required intervals and the oil level is right.

SOLD! for $4000, now the only problem is getting it down to Christcurch. Flying up and riding down seems quite expensive and a bit of a logistical nightmare (Interislander $90, Airfare $177), so I think it will get freighted down by biketranz or conroy.
