View Full Version : Cops and robbers party attire...

My husband and I have been invited to a party and the theme is cops and robbers. We no longer have any cops in the family, so borrowing the necessary duds isn't an option, so has anyone got any suggestions as to what we can wear? The closest I've got to anything police related is a pair of miniature handcuffs on a pin that I was given when I left Police National HQ - but going as a plain clothes officer and wearing those is a little naff!

I don't have any jodphurs so can't throw on the leather jacket and go as a bike cop, so any (decent!) suggestions would be welcome!

Yeah, I got some ugly stuff there for a Rocky Horror party a few years ago and it wasn't that cheap! But it's more ideas we need - I really have no idea what to wear - I don't fancy a white boilersuit aka the accused! We could always turn up on the R100RS and put a few mock lights on it!

Do you still have contact with any cops?
Can you 'borrow' some of their gear...

Police officer:
Go to the $2 shop and you can buy handcuffs there - (metal or plastic).

Cut a broom handle up to about 15inches long and drill a hole right throu the end on end and tie some rope throu it just enough to put you hand throu it and to swing it.... There is your BATTERN/truncheon.

Dark blue pants and a black belt.
Light Blue shirt - if possible borrow from a cop - Needs epileps on shoulders.
Black sensible shoes or black Doc Martins or black boots.
Black socks.

Go to your local kindy and borrow one of their old police helmets.
They may even have a old police jacket as well...

Attach to your black belt a black walkie talkie (from the $2 shop) your cell phone, handcuffs.

The local crim:
A balaclava.
Black t-shirt.
Black track pants.
Sneakers - a bit dirty hehehehe.
Carry a set of old keys - Heaps on a key ring - Its what they use.
A torch and a small crowbar.

Hope that is of some help to you.
I once dressed up as Mr Plod... and was lucky enough to borrow stuff (shirt, pants, jacket, belt) from a local cop and even used his cop belt... He wouldnt lend his handcuffs thou, which is understandable. Got the helmet from local kindy. Still have the truncheon (wooden broom handle) and handcuffs.

Still have the truncheon
1. I wear a balaclava most days. In fact, I've got 2!

2. Something you trying to tell us about your truncheon??

Thanks guys, that's given us some ideas! We do know a few cops but they are all really tall - and we're really not! Andy's brother is a fireman so he should have blue shirts. Might raid the $2 shop for bits and pieces before everyone else has the same idea!

cop uniforms are a pain.

go as a crim.

black/grey hoodie and baggy trackpants, remember to call everyone 'bro' and refuse to look them in the eye.

Levin huh? Do you know anyone at Ohakea? Airforce uniform is pretty similar; even the SD hat - we went to Sevens as Speedo Cops using Air Force Blues - worked well!

Bad taste party, is it?

Believe it or not, it's a combined 21st for Andy's nephew and his mate! And unfortunately my other nephew is no longer in the air force so no go with those uniforms either - although the base commander is a member of our bike club...
