Well folks, seems BlackYoshi has gotten his hands on an idea for Guy Fawkes.

Starts out with a ride on saturday afternoon for a few hours. Afterwards everyone brings some fireworks and some food for the BBQ and meets at the beach or a park or some such. We party out there for a while then as the sun sets we gather all the fireworks together and have ourselfs one big show.
Friends and family welcome.

So who thinks he should set it up? Lets show him we want him to stick around and keep setting up great rides and parties!!

Well.. a non kbr and myself let off $195 of fireworks last night (sorry Meadowbank...) and I still have some left.

I'll be buying some more sparklers for 'doing things with' so yeah I'm in.

new to this but sounds a good idea .where is the ride to be and where to go afterwards??????as i dont know many roads in my area would be good to get out with people who hopefully know some good roads,but still running bike in so hopefully there will be a couple of slower bikes i can tag on too,

Also we'll need someone to be incharge of the fireworks. I've allready asked Firefight but he has work till 1800 and needs to keep his evening free incase he gets called in. Any other noinations? They need to be very level headed exspecially where drinking is concerned.

Also need someone to take charge of the BBQ pit, I can't cook worth a damn so nominations for that aswell.

If anyone else has any ideas speak up. Got a short time to throw it all together.

Ok suggestions for BBQ place have been;


red beach is a great place..Shakespear park up past Stanmore bay is nice too and wont be real crowded..
nice road to get to it also..



Ok there's a road called Huia road it is in the waitakere ranges area.

I know of a beautiful place where we all can go and have a great time. Heaps of parking and pretty private too.
it's the little beach stop areas along Huia Rd - on the east side of it. The area is zones under Waitakere National Parks.

Any others? Thinking we all meet somewher at around 6 then head out to the BBQ place. That way no one gets lost and I'll post a map for any straglers and gives us enough time to set up and eat before it gets dark, then the fireworks. Also some peaple may be in cars cause other then me I don't think there are too any others that will ride with fireworks and food somewhere on thier bikes.

Once I get all the details hamerd out and toss them at a few peaple I trust as sounding boards I'll start a new thread with everything up front and very big for easy readability.

There usually aren't many people there.

Especially in the evenings it's empty.

However since it's guy fawkes night there may be some people about. It's not in the middle of a town - just a place on the side of a lonely country road. No house near there.

Might just say no medium to heavy drinking and let peaple fire off thier own fireworks. Everyone will have more fun that way anyway. And one less thing I have to worry about just need to make sure someone can bring several big buckets incase something does get out of hand and to toss the used fireworks into.



provided its within the days allowed for Fireworks should be no problem, however some areas have bans in alcahol in public areas and it is going to be looked at hard by the cops this year..


tha main thing with the fire works in a big group lots of water(in case of burns) be good if Robo medic(Glen) or Riff were around, and keep away from dry bush and such like.. keep the fire works away from any bomb fires, mostly just common sense..

some local bodies may have restrictions, you would have to know the area you were going to have event, then check it out with them.


Still need someone that has a BBQ they can bring out (unless they have some permanently there?) and can cook.

Ok, we have someone to cook.

And I just spoke to the parks and sevces contact at the regional council, they said fireworks wont be allowed in the bush but the beach should be fine as long as they are pointed out over the water. That was the plan anyway and also any used firewoks will be put into a bucket of water.

Waiting to hear back from the Huia Ranger Station to confirm though.

So is anybody coming out in a cage that can bring a BBQ pit?
Once I get that sorted and hear back from the rangers everything will be set.

Regional parks have just been ruled out. So can't do Huia or Sharkespear. Total fire ban for nationaland regional parks so no fireworks.

Would anybody want to go all the way up to Red Beach?

If not, What's Karaka Bay Beach like? Or does anybody have any other suggestions?
