Aha...tricked ya!
My mate PegLegPete reckons his 7000hp line-haul towboat can pull more than my Sv1000. I reckon he's on drugs. Which one of us is right?

can your bike swim?
how the heck are you gonna compare that? you need some common ground between the two. And even then, I think 7000hp against your 160whateverhp might be a tad let down somehow.. May be you need some drugs..?

Damn Straight. Got a number i can call or you cook your own? :sweatdrop
p.s 160hp from my SV - or any SV.... ? Thats drugs territory. Try 110~ ... but its the application of the torquetional inverse hypoentuse factor that makes me think i would win.

I dunno what an SV puts out.. for a thou, I thought it'd be more than that tho.. hell, my bike puts out roughly that..
anyway, no, i don't know where you could cook your own, but i've seen some mushrooms on the neighbours lawn you could try out..
If you find some sort of common ground between the two, then you could make a reasonable comparison to get your arse kicked. Else, you'd just be pissin in the wind..
you could find out the cc size of the boat, then devide that by the hp, so you have a hp-per-cc rating, then do the same for your bike, and that'd be one way.. you'd still get your arse kicked on it tho..

Come on BJ, you can do better than that. Of course his bike isn't in the ~150ish range, it's a V-Twin.
You have a nicely strung inline four, which is where yuo get that lovely HP, however, his torque would shit all over you.
Blah blah blah, I'm talking crap again.

Did anyone watch top gear last night? They had buggies that could walk on water in Norway (I think it was), and then that wasnt good enough so it raced a snowmobile over water again (the snowmobile won). Interesting comparision though, so long as speed and loud noises are involved its all good :woohoo:

Which one of us is right? Why do I get the feeling that if you hooked the two up together with a tow rope (boat in the water and you bike on tarseal), that you would end up getting your bike v.wet:wait:

Maaaaaaate, show me a wet SV and i'll show you a towboat with gravel rash.... :apumpin:What size (lenght in feet) is his boat? The old V6 16' twin stage hamilton jet would tow you into the water. Your tyre would loose traction before you could even start moving it.

Wanna compare the two? Tie a rop to the back of the tug whilst in the harbour and the other end to your bike on the warf. Lets see if you go swimming.

I'm thinking this is a pisstake.
If it is not... you are one silly boy! Any non dinghy boat would out pull a bike - the bike don't have a whole lot of weight to get traction or much torque.

if you mean 'pull' as in acceleration, why not just try and find speed times.. flat bit of road a length of straight waterway and time the two for the same distance...

And you'd be spot on. Jesus christ. I started this troll after reading 4-5 highly entertaining threads that went on for page after page about who's bunch of bolts could outpace who's bunch of bolts.
Read the first post! A 7000hp tug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I spose the only out for anybody who took it seriously is that scanning my recent "posts" who knows what the fuck i'm talking about......... but hey, this thread is all good after all whats this forum good for if not entertainment, and the odd bit of sage advice...

Ocean going tugs are 8000+ HP, not very fast off the mark, but once they wind up to full speed, you had better watch you mirror as they will close up on you mighty fast
