If you're going to go Avons really the Viper are the only one to go for, very good tyres, although a lot of poeple get good results out of the AV46ST on the rear and the AV49SP on the front.
Diablos i dont rate them much others do, whatever, personal pref really.
Shit hot road tyres, Michelin Pilot Powers, but the pilot sports are also very good.
I'm pretty sure you can sit a 120/70 on the front of your bros without any problems, widens your choice of tyre selection, just watch clearance on the mudguard.
My advice might not be the best as i coming from a purely sticky sport background and a world where a rear tyre lasts less than 2000km at best, guess it's what you want them to do, if you're not real sport orientated and like to cruise and you like the Diablo, maybe try the new Strada, or even Sport Demons are a decent tyre.

I run Metzler M1s. I do a fair mix of commuting (200km/wk of mainly mway) and maybe a quick blast on the weekend, and the back hasn't squared off too badly.
After some commuting and two track days (I'm a pussy) they're still okay at 5,000k. I'd say the back will be out within another 1-2,000. If I didn't ride like a girl they'd be a 5,000k tyre.

sport demons are cheap but i dont think they come in the right size for the rear and i dont want to mis-match tyres, the front still has a while to go....but the back is an extremely soft and obscenely grippy tyre [it can take full throttle in first when taking off hard rolling onto the throttle] and can i buff them or does this decrease life??i might price up some pilot powers :niceone:

Pilot powers are the best tyre i have come across in the wet, and those that know me know i can fang along quite well, er WT, who used the girly excuse of i had racetecs on and then only stupid people ride fast in the wet.
I'm certain the power comes in a 150, and i've heard some people getting good mileage out of them, me not being one them, but they did last longest out of any tyre i've had in a long time, but mainly cause i clocked up 1200 free kms touring to welly in back in the pissing down rain (worked well though)

I wouldn't have thought that proof of being really grippy, it's tackling about 70hp I'm guessing...unless you're talking when it's wet...
Anyway, like LB said, Pilot Powers are the shit...and if you keep the pressures high for commuting they do get really good life...just remember to drop them again when you go out for a proper blast.

na the bros 650 is around 5x HP I think reading from some UK site.
Get some Metzler Z6's they are good and last long.

My flat mates has got sport demons on his bros, I'm pretty sure he could get the correct sizes. So they could be an option, he seems to be fairly happy with them.

Black, Round and Sticky should do it.
Seriously tho. I've gone from Pilot Sport to Pilot Powers after I dropped it at Manfield. I had a mental block that the "Sports" were not good enough so up'd to the stickier Powers.
I"ve also learn't that having your suspension set up properly will aid in getting traction to the ground. My rear was set too hard so that's why the rear stepped out.
So correct me if I'm wrong guys.....
Without your suspension set up properly, your tyres won't work to their full potential?

If too hard (compression I'm thinking you're talking about...?), bike will bounce around, so tyres will lose contact with the road, yup.

i think i saw him again today. :spudwave: what size[s] are his tyres? my service manaul says they should be a 17 front and rear, mine has a 18 inch rear wheel  it has different wheels to most other bros650/400's i think.

That's rather weird really...must be an extremely hard rear...or you've got it at 70psi or somrthing.
With 101hp at rear wheel I don't think I can make Pilot Powers or Sports spin up...what's the brand and model of your rear?

i have some dunlops on my ZX9R - they are great in the dry, apart from they skid a little if you jump on the throttle when you are in footpeg scraping territory , they are absolute crap in the wet, cant put the power down coming out of a corner or the back just breaks loose and gets sideways, which is only fun for about .000005 of a second , even taking off from the lights in the wet, if you feed it a bit of throttle it will spin, its a total whore to ride in the wet.
Ive had pilot powers on my old gixxer 400 and they were quite good, but i found them to be really soft and wear quickly ? that was about 3-4 years ago, have they improved on the wear side of things ?
Dont buy the dunslops , and can someone tell me some good tyres for my zx9

I thought that Pilot Powers were only released in the past couple of years? If so, it was probably the Pilot Race you had...I get decent mileage out of Powers, for the grip they provide.

pro-tech 10r or sumtink like that. it was'nt very flat, i think the road suddenly changed [dropped or a bump] and the tyre spun becase of the lack of weight on it.
