I don't know what I'm looking for other than a 175 to 250cc 2 stroke parallel twin in running condition. The more complete the better.

Ferk, I don't even know if such a thing is available. :mellow:

I have a silly idea and the time to carry it out. Something to do with a small bike frame I have...

I know a guy with a half built (and maybe never finished) Jawa 250 twin,has a backbone frame,big reed valve blocks,chambers,ported and stuff.Could be a real mover if he ever finishes it,but it's been in the same state for about 10 years.But an RD or T250 would be the best - maybe an A7 if you can find one,it'd be fun to play around with disc valves on a twin,with big carbs out the side.

you want air or water cooled?Air would be better considering the space I have to play with... RD/RZ would have to be detuned a little I think.
How does the T250 and X7 compare for output? I've heard of them but not familiar with them.

...But an RD or T250 would be the best - maybe an A7 if you can find one, it'd be fun to play around with disc valves on a twin, with big carbs out the side.What's an A7? A Suzuki isn't it?. What's one has the shortest height of these engines?

Sorry for the 'dumb' questions...

A7 is the Kawasaki 350 twin,they made a 250 too,exactly the same,just like the Yamaha and Suzuki twins,250 and 350 were nearly identical.The Kawasaki was rotary valve with the carbs out the side,the airfilter sat behind the barrels,one set up for classic racing is on TradeMe now I think.Bridgestone also made a 350 rotary valve twin same as the Kawasaki,but I don't think we got any here.The Jawa was a 60s bike,and never got beyond that,but there is plenty of room for development.

Yes, we did get the Bridgestones. I almost bought one years ago, but it was too dear. they were very fast. (as was the Kawasaki - 'twas called the Avenger I think)

I thought we might have got some Bridgestones Ixion,I'm sure I've seen one,but sometimes I don't trust a foggy memory.

I saw the T350 but think it's a little big (both physically and in capacity). Might bid on it anyway... then I can try it for size.

It's the same physical size as the 250,all the Jap bikes were like that.

Just a caution, after that length of time the crank seals are almost certain to crap out within the first hour. They "dry out" , lose elasticity, then when the motor starts the seal surface runs too hot , picks up and the seal craps.

So budget for a crank rebuild - you can still get the seals .
