I am now the proud owner of a QuasiMoto Back Protector.

You can't call me spineless now, I have an exoskeleton!

Plus I've "lost" an inch off my middle. I like girdles. I feel like William F Shatner!

First impressions are really good. It actually improves the riding experience, in that it contains and supports all the bulgy damaged soft tissue around my thoracic spine and it also helps out with kidney and lower back support, plus it gives you something to push against when you're stretching.

Build quality is superb, and certainly looks the part. I like the pad that covers the joints and connectors on the inside of the protector as it's not something you always get on "cheap" back protectors.

Full marks Bret for your excellent product and excellent service.

Now go buy stuff off him people!

This is a serious question.

Do you do front protectors?

After my cracked rib encounter with the Pukeko of Doom, I would like something to protect the chest area. Especially reflecting on such matters as punctured lungs, aortic detachment (wot killed Pincess Di, that), and such nasties. And reflecting, what if instead of a pukeko, with a closing speed of 120 kph (me 100 kph , would *I* break the law?, + 20 for the pukeko), it had been a fence post with closing speed of 150 kph (speedy little brutes , them fence posts) ? It seems to me that one is as likely to hit a HardThing front on as back on?

(The rib has apparently almost healed , to the suprise of the plant nurse who was vexed that I ignored her instructions to visit a quack, but had no answer to my rejoinder "I'll get over it". Since I have. But it hurt .I'm a fool to myself she tells me.)

And will the back protectors fit not only the fully figured, and the taller figured. But also fat squat obese misproportioned beings such as I ?

Why? All the quack says is "we dont do anything - just take it easy - watch out for infection - that'll be $60 please - NEXT!"

Hi, no is the simple answer , but I have a top which has back front elbows shoulders etc, you wear it like a shirt. I have one left. its kind of like a motorcross set.
I hear you though I would love a front as well

MX armour is what you need. Remove the shoulder and elbow bits and use the chest/back sections. They're around $200 up.

Or you could buy a chest gaitor.

We've been thru the fitting questions for taller, bigger, and ahem.... wider peoples, but what about those of us at the other end of the spectrum? I am tall enuff i suppose (180cm) but I'm a skinny wee lad - 65kg or so... Is there any chance these things will run out of fitting adjustment on the small side?

Stop procrastinating.
He has bloody good shit.

Man those leathers are excellent.
First time I have ridden in leather (well a bike anyway) and I can safely say I will never use synthetic again.
Much cooler, better freedom of movement and safer. And cheaper than the synthetic too boot.

Oh and one more thing, you get a lot of complements from chicks too.

And NO she isn't included!!!

Yeah they are cool huh !
What Im doing with those is getting the armour taken of the arms, Im developing a suit with a back protector and a chest protector, you put it on like a zip up shirt then tighten it around you waist as you do with a back protector, this way you can have freedom of movement and have protection front and rear for your leathers. I have a prototype this weekend for racing if any one is interested.
Way I see it there are heaps of broken ribs from crashes so lets fix that problem I say !!

Dainese Safety Jacket Wave V 1-2-3. Images courtesy of <URL=http://www.kneedraggers.com>Kneedraggers.com</URL>

Came across them some months ago while drooling over the Dainese T. Bora Prof. Canguro Leather Suit. They're of particular interest to me (the safety jacketss that is) because I'm a skinny weed. Which means in the even of an accident I don't have the natural protection some of you do. I'm pretty sure it would take a lesser accident to brake my ribs, puncture lungs, etc.

If you can do these to a high quality Quasi I'm sure they'd be extremely popular.

For a number of reasons I decided before Xmas to get myself a back protector, and thought I'd give Quasi a go seeing as he has had some good feedback from people here, and despite having access to some good prices on the usual brands through a mate.

First thing I noticed was the quick reply to my PM with advice on sizing, which turns out to be pretty spot on. Second thing I noticed was the price - cheap, to which I wondered am I getting some dodgy cheap rubbish?

So, I'm just back from my 2nd ride and thought I'd post a quick review. Of course, I did a search first  and thought I'd dredge up this old thread instead of starting again.

I've never worn a back protector before so can't really compare with other brands. When I first put it on (after it was promptly delivered) it felt a bit strange, especially at the base of my spine. However once the other gears went on it felt like it belonged (for want of better explanation). It's very comfortable, and sort of encourages good posture by providing support in the right places without forcing the matter. All of which is a good thing, because if it's a pain to put on or wear then it won't be used.

Cheap? Only in price. I hope I don't get to review it properly, but it is good quality kit. I don't know if the product's changed much since the previous reviews, but if it has then it certainly aint in a backwards direction. Cheers Quasimoto!
