View Full Version : Kiwi Biker flag

Since others have asked about this before, I have ordered a Kiwi Biker flag to be used at large biker events. It will be 1.8m x 0.9m. At $400 it's not cheap, but quality costs. It will only be given to trusted, established KB members who will be responsible for the flag and it's return.

I don’t see there being many flag poles available at biker events so I will need to find some way for people to hang it.

What about a banner with eyelets at the top? And does it have to be double sided?

SpankMe
4th November 2005, 10:48
I was thinking more like small clamps so it can still be used as a flag.

Flag is a great idea. Banner is also great idea, but is too heavy to double as a flag. It has to be cloth.

when you say events, i assume you are refering to meetings/events rather than just rides and such. i.e - Trackdays, racedays, coldkiwi etc.

would be a good idea... i'd throw some money at it too.

and I'd be just underneath, picking it up.. money doesn't stick to flags..

good idea spank ;)
hey, we could tie it to the back of a bike and fly up and down the SH1.. Or Death could do a standing wheelie with it tied to his back

A Big flag can be flown from the back of a bike...

I have a flag 6' x 4' that flys from the back of my bike on occassions.
I use a old broom handle well strapped on... and the flag has eyelets to tie it on to the stick.

The stick must be a certain distance high so that the flag won't get caught up when riding the bike.

But a great idea SpankMe... to have a KB flag flying at certain events.

I've just received the artwork for approval from the flag makers. They removed the border because they said it will weaken the flag but I told them it will be used more as a banner and only put up a flag pole on occasion. They said that wont be a problem then and they are going to redo the artwork approval.

We'll see which looks better, border or no border tomorrow when I get it again.

Looks good that...

and regards an anthem... shouldn't it be something fast like Prodigy - Hyperspeed, or even something ironic like Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer

We also need to decide on an official KB salute to the flag. How about the Arnold Rimmer triple spin?

My brother is gonna be picking up a nice sized confederate flag for me when he goes back to visit the states in a few months time. I plan on flying that on the back of my bike.

Tying the KB flag on the back of a bike would be cool cause then you don't have to worry about finding somewhere to mount it for all to see. Also kinda be cool to have a big group of us riding to events following someone in the lead with the flag flyin from thier bike.

Got myself a nice Confederate bandana while in the US, cost my TWO DOLLARS and was made in the US - not some low paid (and sometimes quality) overseas place.

Could have brought you back a big-ass Confederate flag for $10 but hey, evrybody is shit hot with hindsight eh?

Damn you should have told me mate, could use one to hang over my house aswell, ohwell.

Also Spank,I like it without the border better.

Ok, I'm no expert on these matters but have always been curious - I know that the confederate flag is a symbol of "southern pride" in the states, but have also heard that it has been used by the KKK and other racist organisations, and is held by many to represent a reminder back to the days of slavery? What is the deal with it?

Not trolling here, just genuinely interested to get the story behind it.

thats what i heard, so be careful wearing it out. it's not the best symbol in the world to be sporting. espically over here. but i think some poeple don't realise the meanings behind it. i used to think it was cool tilll someone told me.

If it's possible to get it to someone who's going in time. Probably too late to mail it, but if someone can pick it up.

I'm also going to be looking at getting a mobile flag pole like the ones real estate agents use by parking the car tyre over the base. The flag makers sent a brochure which I'm looking at now.

:wait:

That sounds familiar.

Now, where have I seen that before.

Those who know me will be laughing at my humour .

But from my experience, the existing flag is too big for 600s.. sorry I mean bikes.

And who is going to have it on their bike? How are you going to decide? :slap:

Vote! :thud:

Now it is starting to sound more like a Club. :blip: You will soon have a President and a Committee.

You wouldn't want to carry it on a sports bike anyway. Might upset the riders cause it clashes with thier jumpsuits.

The KKK was formed by a few scottish americans at the end of the civil war. Its name was based on the greek word kyklos which means circle - klan, because they were scottish.

The confed flag comes into it, because they were part of the confederate army. However, I cant remember when the confed flag was used for symbolism, I think it may have been only recently in the 60s or so.

Just let me know when.

I was hoping to use one of my rifle bags to carry the pole and base, but they are not quite long/wide enough, so I've ordered a carry bag from the flag makers but it only has carry handles. I will have to get it modified to have a shoulder strap added so I can carry it on the bike.

You should just do like the americans, get a 6foot flagpole welded to the back of your bike and ride along with the flag waving around at the back.

Sure you'd start a convoy in no time. :2thumbsup

I need to get a pole bag made to carry the mobile flag pole on the bike. Something 4 foot long with a shoulder strap. The U base fits into my backpack, sort of, sticks out a bit but should be ok.

So if anyone can get one made or knows of a good place to get it made?
