Hi all,
Mrs S & I are heading over to the Wairarapa on Sunday morning, will probably head around the lake and end up in Martinborough for coffee etc.
The invitation is open to anyone that would like to join us.
The plan is to meet at Caltex Rimutaka at 10am and leave from there at 10:20 on Sunday morning. If the weather is crappy, I'll still be in bed!

I did thanks to Deanno and Jimbo for dropping it off. Felt like an idiot when I was looking for it. Practically in my PJs :).

I can't decide...weather is looking fairly average and I had a late night last night...still got to put the bike back together after cleaning the air filter...but I am out of bed so that's a start but I could always climb back into bed.

The TSS ride didn't end so happily for one of the participants, and cut the ride short. Details are sketchy but I don't think he's a KB'er; nevertheless I hope you're OK.
It was the same corner as Str8 Jacket came to grief on the GN, I'm told.
Take care out there!

Aye corumba...they dont have much luck on those rides. Theres nothing particularily bad about that corner either.

Yeah, just heard about this from my mate on the TSS ride. Not sure of the details, the guy is ok, bike is munted though!
Its not a bad corner, your right- dont know about those bloody barrier poles though!

Uhuh...I would say that you have an intimate knowledge of those barrier poles. :)
Might have a chat with Stew today and ask him.

Glad to hear they are ok, I head a similar thing from my workmate who went on the ride, apparently the bike took a pole out of the ground :eek5:

Yeah? I wonder if it was the same pole that I almost took out of the ground, cause on closer inspection it looks like that pole had already seen a fair bit of "trauma" before I came crashing into it...
Skelstar - did you find out how the guy is doing?

I do believe that accidents can happen anywhere, anytime.... Im thankful that when I did bin it that I had some fellow KBers with me. Theres some good dudes affiliated with KB, my first "bin" was made a hell of alot easier by some of them...
I have also had quite a few excellent rides with them, where no one has binned it!

Nah, it was the GN's fault, she was suicidal and sick of people pointing and laughing at her.... At least she went out with a bang!

Depends if you think you can keep a cool head. It's a good way to meet other bikers, but sometimes people get beyond of their ability when they're following the guy in front. This leads to panic and target fixation.
From what I've heard the guy damaged his arm and rib cage. Pitty he wasn't wearing a jacket with armour and a back protector.

Damn, just as summers starting too. I hope he heals quick! Was there still quite a bit of gravel around the edges?...

I think the TSS guys are great but I didnt like the TSS ride. Didnt find it terribly social. A week later I was riding with VTWIN etc and was 10X more social.

There was a bit of gravel around. Gotta watch that section of road. What's the road actually called? Maybe it's worth posting something about it.
Take care!

It's called Martinborough - Masterton RD
Take it easy folks, the more people take out the road side ornaments the more the road side tax collectors will be visiting our nice backroads.

Agree with you Bartman, the last off I saw on a TSS ride was caused by a combination of speed of the riders involved, trying to get to the front of the group and a greasy road..I know Stewart has been working hard on getting people to use their brains on the rides (not overtaking on blind corners, riding to the conditions etc)but I guess after he has the pre ride brief, some people put their helmets on and switch off their brains. Having said that I have always enjoyed the rides and must disagree with Skelstar...have alway found the people very social and the rides are well organised....I do hope that Stewart continues to put the time and effort into the rides and is not put off by people binning it...I just hope the rides don't end up like the road rides from a certain bike club that petered out through lack of interest...from riders not the organiser.

To be fair, Im not very good at starting conversations so tend to rely on others. It just didnt happen I guess. Stew did organise the ride well. I understand he is concerned about the bins on the rides so far.
