So I was all togged up to go for ride to nelson when the bike would not start and in trying the get some life into it as it coughed and fired and died, the battery gave up.... so now what I need to know is how do I take off the bike body-work to find the battery...... which is what I have tried to do.. however the bright spark who last did up the 8 hex screws that hold the body work on the bike must have used some super-grippy loktite or the alloy has a super grip on the threads as none will move and two are all ready round hex screws... which is no use whatsoever... so any advice on

a, is Bimota SB6 battery accessable only after body/seat/tank (one piece) is taken off?

b, how do you free up siezed hex screws in alloy.. esp the ones with the round holes?

pictures here will show what I'm on about...

So you didnt get a handbook or anything with the bike?
And yeah looks liek battery sits right under what would normally be the tank.

trick ive seen if your gutsy is you take a chisle like tool and bash a notch in the side of the bolt/screw/nut whatever. then use that a flathead and a hammer to hit it around. this is how I got my engine off, course have to replace them afterwards.

just pull off fairings till you find it

Can't help with where they hide the battery , but for the hex bolts , an impact driver or a rattle gun will do the trick

nice one... will let you know how I get on... bit worried about slipping and ruining the carbonfibre gel coat etc... or the frame...

nice one... will let you know how I get on... bit worried about slipping and ruining the carbonfibre gel coat etc... or the frame...Use a couple of layers of duct tape around the item. I usualy desticky it a bit by placing the sticky bit on some cloth first. Easier to get off that way.

May I quickly suggest before getting to this level of attack... Firstly try a nail punch inside the centre of the allen head and quickly tap with a hammer only once and not too firmly. This might "release" the hold it has. Worth a try before getting into heavier stuff.

Thanks for all advice... battery is actually under the air box cover in front of back wheel so had to take off bodywork, exhaust, fueltank and airbox to get to it... phew! Capscrew was an affair... had to resort to sharpened punch and tapping it around.. the others came off using an impact wrench.. nice.. but gonna put some anti-sieze on the new stainless steel hex screws i have now got.... don't want to have to go through that again in a hurry.. now have to wait for the bike to charge and make some wires to keep attached to the battery so I can charge it without the hassle...

the joys of 'specials' eh?

oh, and the hex nuts where 5/32 imperial (or similar from memory, sound right?) rather than 4mm or something sensible... sheesh!
