Over 1000 bikes of all shapes and sizes gather in Cambridge town square from about 0900 onwards. The ride to Hamilton starts ~1100, toys for the hospital are dropped off and everyone socialises and tells lies to each other. A great day! :p

Howdy yall,

Anybody else contemplating going to Cambridge for the CCF Toy Run.

As soon as I knock off at 6am (graveyard shift) I'll be gearing up to hit the road, hopefully before 7am.

I can pick anybody up the line who'll be going my way or will do the meetups in Camboes.

righto well I missed the Westpac run so I wouldn't mind taking the 7th out to head down to Cambridge, assuming the weather's not overly 'orrible, anyone else from Auckland thinking about going who doesn't mind a slowish ride down with me and my 25bhp? Autobahn meetup around 0800 perhaps?

I'm also on night shift & finish at 7am. I'm still contemplating whether to go or not: if I don't get any sleep, I'll be too tired to ride come 11am (read: dangerous!) but if I go home for a couple of hours kip, I'll be extremely grumpy and/or difficult to wake up for the alarm at, say, 9am-ish.

I'll decide on the day, I s'pose.

Anyone heard where it might be finishing up this year? There was a mention of a BBQ in Garden Place!!!

Yeah I don't mind a relaxed ride,If the liquid sun shine holds off that is.

Yeah, I'll probably get along for a cruise. Its a low-speed affair of course, so I reccommend limbering up your clutch hand before you reach Cambridge. I went along last year and enjoyed the whole comraderie thing, loads of bikes in all shapes and sizes. Best part of the ride really is when it finishes giving you a chance to look round the bike-park.

I can get to hamilton and have a placve to stow my bike and carry gear for the suit.

Kasper, RIB here.
Planning to go to the toy run from Tuaranga on my CBR1000FL, if you are game (new bike, still getting use to it).
I'm coming down to Tauranga from Whangarei to catch up with my bike club (BOP Coastal Crusiers) on Friday (plan to check-out Puke Open day on the way). They are running a Club ride Saturday, The Undie 500 :moon: (hope it F*cken warm:cold: ).
Staying Tauranga Saturday, then heading to Cambridge for the toy run Sunday. Will be heading back to Whangarei from Cambrige after the run, so will not be able to run you back to Tuaranga. More than happy to give you a lift for the run but:niceone:
Text me on my celephone (025 534350) for more details:done:

Happy riding peeps... its for the children with cancer.

Like ching_ching This will be my first bike rally apart from cold kiwi. Suposed o be sleeping after a night shift but got the old girl out for a long overdue wash and wax. Got carried away and polished the engine block, mufflers, wheels...everything. Just wanted her to look good for tomorrow. Will be leaving Whakatane 8am. I know this sounds silly but I'm quite really excited about attending this run. I've not felt this way for a long time, thanks KBers :Punk: you guys rock

I'm a wee bit luckier than you - I'll be catching an hour or so's kip before the alarm goes off & I head to Cambridge from Hamilton.

I'll be wearing my KBer T-shirt, so come say hi if you spot me: tall blonde chick, black & white 2-piece leathers, blue Shoei with rabbit ears on. :)

Sorry I missed you ching_ching there were not that many yellow zooks there.
Here a a few pix Linda and others.
Had a great ride, a bit cool to start with. What a fantastic day for riding :ride: :sunny:
Missed out on the giveaways but there is always next year. Last thing I need is to SIT DOWN here or anywhere for that matter.
Where else would you see a nifty fifty beside a harley?
There were 978 bikes counted give or take a few that joined late or left early.
It was amazing that people were on the road side waving in their hundreds to paticipate in this run one was made to feel like a hero, but it is the kids who are the hero's having to put up with treatment for months on end.
Even the BBQ was priced right only $1 a sasuage can't complain at that. the poor lion's laddies were run off their feet serving us hungry bikers all with a smile too, Top Job and well done

Have not long been home after going on the Cambridge run today and a quick out and back country excursion afterwards. As usual, it was a real spectacle, amazing turnout, funny seeing the buzz all the kids were getting out of it on the side of the roads.

I spotted a familiar looking KR150, thinking it might be FZeroZeroT (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=1783) I went over to introduce myself and sure enought it was. Nice meeting ya dude :-). Earlier I spotted what I thought might have been ching_ching (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/search.php?searchid=19653) on his Gixxer, didnt see him in the bike-park tho, possible photo of him attached. Amazing to think that I woulda seen/met two people from KiwiBikers amongst the thousand odd bikes that were there.

There's a couple of photo attachments from today following, and another dozen or so (http://www.deeknow.com/images/ToyRun2004/) on my website if your interested. Sorry I missed ya there Holy Roller, we shoulda all hooked up earlier. That Indian you posted there was a thing of beauty wasnt it?

Hey look there's a half-caste Maori on a yellow Zook, hahaha.

Thanks for the pic Deeknow.

My first bike rally. Here's a short lowdown.

Finished work at 6am. Shot back home, fed the cat (gotta keep the home security happy). Left at about 7am. Stopped at BP Wairakei for a quick top up and to clean the bugsplat. When I left I followed 2 beemers and rode tail end till Tirau where I stopped for a chockie (must maintain the sustenance). Got to Camboes just before 8:40am. Not many bikes at first but man did it change as time went on... all sorts of bikes... tons of Harleys, Indians, Velocettes, Laverdas, an Enfield or 2, lots of Japanese bikes, trikes, Ducs, an MV Agusta, Honda VTX1800, Kwacka 2000 (shit those are biggies), even a couple of scooters (good on ya):niceone:. It was really good to see all these riders out not only because we like bikes and riding but for the children with cancer. I think some of the Plod had an idea that this was going down 'cause when me and the Beemers were travelling, we maintained average speed of... (over limit anyways). Thanks Mr Plod. Bumped into some young South African dudes on KR150s who stay in Cambridge. They started quizzing me on how I wanted to trick my bike out so we talked shit for a little while.

Twas an interesting experience.

Thanks Ulysses for a great ride for the children.

That was the best organisation of the Cambridge-Hamilton Toy Run ever! What a superb job everyone did, from Ulysses to the cops & their (presumably Ulysses members) helpers, the council for allowing the closure of a couple of blocks of the main street and the Road Management guys with all their cones & detour signs for all the other hapless motorists. :not:

I thought that a BBQ in Garden Place was a recipe for disaster, especially after last years fiasco of an attempt to go through town, but I was proved seriously wrong and how! :D

I had my KB t-shirt on & sat in the shade under the trees in Garden Place for a while & mosied about for a bit too, but didn't spot any other KBers or have anyone tap me on the shoulder. But it was a great opportunity to catch up with various friends I don't get to see except at events like Paeroa and the Toy Run.

And what great weather too. :sunny:

Thanks for the photos, guys. And look forward to seeing more of you at the 20th Anniversary next year. :niceone:

It was a great day to meet some new peeps, DeeKnow had the guts to approach people, I didn't - mirrorvisor syndrome.

I was the tool wandering around in green and white leathers and the chrome helmet.

I did talk to the same guys with the KR150's that you did chingching, it seems our attitudes towards riding style must have something to do with the bike :D

Yeh it was good talking to those young South African fullas. They sound like bull outta tha gates types and one of them said he can't wait till he gets his full so he can score the latest R6. Hope he takes the time to just skill up and enjoy the ride... don't want nobody to be a statistic if ya know what I mean.

And yeh... what is it with these KR150s... sounds like they sure can scream.
