Im bored!!!

I had a play in Photoshop and cut some things off a picture of my bike to see what it would look like. I quite like this style...I reckon that it looks quite cool.

I imagine that I would have to come up with some semi-mudguard arrangement. Saw a BMW adventure-type bike that has a small guard that extends out from the end of the swing arm that could be made to look good. Tail-lights and plates have to be assigned yet. Could fabricate some trick LED ones...I have the technology. I think there would also have to be a small box bolted under the seat for fuses and CDI etc.

PS - Please so not bother with the 'why?!?!?!?' comments, or the then 'why bother with a 250' ones either. Its just a bit of fun.

Yeah, its not exactly mainstream. I have seen this sort of thing done before...but new bike designs (name escapes).

I meant more concept bikes, very small american bike designers that only have one or two models. Theres a post about these on teh site somewhere...I think one model was called a "Wraith' maybe. Could be confused with Hell Pizza though...

And fit some slash-cut pipes (Can't be much louder than mine). And take 3 teeth of the back sprocket. Wheelies and noise, perfect for terrorising suburbia. It'll be mad fun.

That was the bike in the bike trader recently. Very ugly lookin and it had a tank in the frame somewhere so you had no where to grip with your knees.

I think you're thinking of the Confederate bikes, the Wraith and Hellcat.
Neither are mainstream either, but I do like the extensive use of carbon-fibre in them.
Bit more blatant c/f on your Comet wouldn't go amiss to, Skelstar !!

Those are the ones. Im really keen on that styling. Seems streetfighterers arent (esp europeans/germans/hungarians). But then I guess its not really a sfighter.
I did lower the bars as well. Would have to have some meaner headies too, but not those super-motard/alien ones.

Paint it all black, with black wheels and a carbon-fibre pipe on it.
See what it looks like then.Should make a huge difference (may give it that Triumph Streetfighter look too)

True...a longer swing arm would make it a bit more mean looking too, would screw the handling though.

There was a post the other with one very similar. I wonder how the weight distribution would be? It seems like a vry forward configuration. Would that put more weight on the front wheel?

Yeah thats the kinda stuff that I like. Reckon theyre awesome looking. My tire (GT250) is only 150mm wide though. Looks wider when theres no mudguard (removed it).

The posted pic looks to be a lot lower too. The lower centre of gravity would help with the thinner wheel wouldn't it? Or you could just push the wheel size up a couple of notches.

Have no problems with the wheel size other than asthetics. A wider wheel would foul the chain guard etc I think. The link you sent is of a bike that is more a chopper than sports-tourer...including the 'wraith/hellcat' conf bikes too I think.

Given the height of the Comet it's almost a supermoto. I'd like it more, if it was lower, but hey, that's personal preference.

Me? Noooo.

I'm a seagull manager I am. Flies in, makes a lot of noise, shits on everyone, and leaves before the real work starts, only to return and pick over the rotting carcass of a dead project.

Really? I didnt think it was all that high (780mm from memory)...Im glad its a fullsized bike though (being a 250) as the usual 'big-bike' wont be large by comparison. Anyway...digressing.

I looked seriously at getting a Comet because they are taller than your average 250 (She came along and said "NO." really firmly)
I think if you lengthened the seat out (not by much) that would solve your rear mudguard problem. The seat would almost 'float' more if you could drop the motor an inch or two to get some space right under the seat and cantilever the seat from a long way forward. The seat bar would need to fairly stiff. On the other hand if you did that it would negate the need to have a swing arm suspension. It could be a hard tail with an almost single bar (or side by side) frame with no top bar.

Hmmmm. Can't say I like it but each to their own. Interesting way you've 'attached' the rear pegs... :doobey:

Where'd you mount the brake and back indicators?
behind the seat?

What about up off the back (or near the back) of the mudguard,
obviously past the end of the seat, so it doesnt get mashed.

:bash: so when do you start chopping things up?

I have. Want to know where the guy got the bellypan from. Was going to ask you about that actually eDave.

Not sure if I like the lights, but it may grow on me a bit.

Yeah I reckon some trick LED type thingies. Im an electronic engineer so making something like that wouldnt be too hard.

Im only talking about hypothetics. Ill do it to some bike some day though. Reckon I could make something that would be quite cool without having to too much fabrication.

I could do the 'glass & carbon work, BUT Id need the bike here in CHCH for about a week or so

Yeah I figured. Could just setup a webcam operation, you know kinda 'left a bit, nope right a bit'. Fabrication via internet could be considered 'diversification' mate.:)
