The five dayer sounds cool, Lee. Might look at doing that (sounds like good SC practice:rolleyes: ). Don't even want to think how long the report would take me to write but (think I'll give the report bit a miss, aye).

This will be no holiday ride but more of a challange/endro-touring ride if any of the other Rusty events are to go by. Ask Jantar, Blackbird and Mangell6 if they wanted to tour after the Southern Cross.
Lee, we would love a few more details, please.

Go on ask, the answer may surprise you . . . . . .
This is surely an event, saving the dollars and getting the riding in.

Well you're wrong.
After the Southern Cross the plan was to stay overnight at New Plymouth and then ride back to Wellington. BUT was feeling reasonably good and rode home after the meal at Opunake.
WHen I arrived at the final Cape I had a sense of sadness that there was no more riding and that was it, all finished. I felt like going around again as it was such a great time, even with the freezing start that we had.
Jantar took a leasuirely ride home visiting and sightseeing all the way back down south. Was slightly envious of him actually.

20th Anniversary Tiki Tour Run
13- 17 March 2006
RULES
There are few rules to this run, HOWEVER the major one is that you must be at the start each day - you do not have to use the places where we stay, you should make use of friends and family to reduce your costs, that is only right - BUT you must present yourself at the overnight venues the next morning to collect your NEW FLAG for the Day.
This refinement has been added so that all riders get a fair chance at collecting all the allocated ICON points on the same day - Bigger bikes may go faster but smaller bikes can do them all if the rider is prepared to sit in the saddle for the time it takes. The idea is to get as many pictures with flag, rider, and or bike with ICON as possible - at the bottom all pictures will be tallied and mileages will be added from the start.
You may use digital cameras but we want a hard copy at the finish - get them printed on the way. If you are using ordinary cameras they same thing applies you must bring us a set of hard copy pictures to be eligible for the finish award.
The rider with proof of the most Icons visited, and the highest mileage will be eligible for an award (yet to be decided). Rusty's judgement will be final.
All flags will be returned to riders at end of run as mementos of the event.
Day start times will be observed from 7am until 8am - On Wednesday and Friday due to length of the days ride, motorcycles of 250cc or less and scooters many arrange an earlier start time, the overnight Rusty will allocate any earlier start times should they be required,
This concession will be dealt with on a case by case basis a GN250 will be allowed extra time and a CBR250RR will start with the rest.
All costs for meals, accommodation etc, are at your expense with the exception of the end of run meal at the RNMC Clubrooms (Eagle Tavern Bluff) There will be some refreshments also provided. At the clubrooms.
Overnight Sunday 12th March
Monday 13th March Russell 7am
Run starts at the flag pole (Close to camp) between 7am and 8am.
Sign in, Get your mileage recorded, Pick up your flag, Be on your way - Ride Safely.
Visit as many, or few, of the listed Icons on your way, PHOTOGRAPH THEM with yourself, your bike and definitely YOUR FLAG in the picture. Then onwards towards your next overnight stop.
Tuesday 14th March
In the morning from 7am until 8am your overnight Rusty to be able to change your flag to the new flag for the day and you will be free to leave to collect your icon pictures. Again visit as many or few as you wish.
Wednesday 15th March
From 7am until 8am (small bikes and scooters see the rules) Change yesterdays flag for the flag of the day, sign in and head off on your Icon hunt. Remember that you have a ferry to catch either tonight or in the morning. Your overnight stop can be either Wellington or Picton.
Due to the different overnight stops you will not have a set start time or flag exchange on Thursday morning.
Thursday 16th March. No set start point. No flag exchange. Use Wed flag for today.
Collecting your Icon photos as you go make you way through the list until your overnight stop .
From 7am collect your new daily flag and head for your day photo stops
Friday 17th March
Make your way taking your Icon photos to the Eagle Tavern Bluff for a meal and a Rusty Party. Dinner will be around 6pm . A couple of kegs will tapped and if you don't have a good time it wont be our fault.
DON'T FORGET We want hard copy photos at Bluff. So make sure you get them done somewhere unless you have a printer in your pack
Please ride Safe and don't exceed your safe riding limits.

entries are open now, and filling fast, you get details by return email or snail mail
Start planning as you need to get ferry's etc worked out. They may be the limiting factor in getting to all the icons
give your self an entry for Christmas or some one else for that matter
PM me for entry form I will retun by email or get off the RNMC website.

First off I recommend you take the 900. Or hire a bike if you want to save the wear on your wheels.
1. You like these long rides and this one will be meticulously (Rusty ride) organised.
2. It will be like your South Island trip but you'll have heaps of friendly faces around to keep you company through the good and - bad - times.
3. At the end you'll have absolutely NO, NADA, ZILCH lighter problems.
4. You got nothing better (than this) to do anyway.
5. Resources aren't really an issue, or leave.
6. It will make a very impressive notch in your "riding belt" and general ride experiences.
7. You'll get to see some great places and learn things that you may not know even existed.
8. It will make up for all the riding you miss in the cold, wet winter months.
9. It will be a great holiday and should settle your mind and relieve any stress.
10. THE BIG ONE - As this is your first Rusty Nut Adventure riding with the Rusty crew - this will be one of those memories that last a lifetime.
There: 10 valid reasons:blip:
Go on you want to:2thumbsup

I would if I could but I'm saving up my cash and allocated leave to go home for Christmas/newyears next year.
You interested in doing the Grand Challenge?? I'd be real keen to give that a go -
How's the plans coming for your mini GC RIB??
What's wrong with a soft seat?? PM Warr and RIB and ask them what they recommend.

What could I be recommending ??
On the GC I took the XJ. Seat wise I didnt have a problem. Rusty recommended I get some of the large bubble wrap. Stow it in my pack and bring it out when I could go no further. Well the reality was I didnt use it at all. In preperation for the GC I bought one of those "Throttle Boss" thinks and that was very good. It is always my right hand that feels it worst and with the throttle boss my hand didnt get so sore.
It would be a different matter onthe VFR. I dont think I would last as long on that. Just harder on both hands. Just need some better shocks on the XJ and that would make it sweet.

soft seat = not enough support... and all the pressure is at one point all the time.... funny enough Suzkkies e.g the SV and Gixxers have better foam... but lots of ppl know that.

Only 5 weeks to go for entries in the Rusty's 20th anniversary Tiki Tour - THis is a "one off" run - after some of the other One offs we have run I get a heap of calls about the next one - there is no next one folks.
This is a hard run if you try to complete it all as befits a club that puts on challenging runs. But if you think you can not do it all - thats fine just come for the ride and stick to your own limits, I reckon only a few will be capable of doing every point.
If you want more info email rustyinfo@rustynuts.co.nz or Pm me through here

Day 3 is going to be the hardest day for me to complete as I need to Check in for the Ferry by 5.15pm. This only leave me around 10hrs max for that day, so I will have to get a riggle on. All the other days are sweet as I can ride into the night:whistle:
Have a bed Organise for end of Day 2 in Tauranga (thanks BabyB:Punk: ).
Am looking for a beds for the following Areas/Days:
New Plymouth, close to Belt Rd Seaside Holiday Park at the end of Tuesday 14/03/06.
Near Rakaia River Holiday Park at the end of Thursday 16/03/06.Any help here will be appreicated but no worries if ya can't. Will have tent and bedroll and am used to pitching where ever I can.
Thanks
