Just heard about this in his interview on bFM. It's raising money for children's charities. Not just from BMW to Big Boys Toys - it'll be into the city and across the bridge.

Anyone up for it? Probably get yourself on the TV, and it's good PR for bikes and bikers. :2thumbsup

Not 100% certain, so ask at BMW Headquarters on the day, but I believe that if you buy a badge it gets you into Big Boys Toys and half of the fee goes to Cure Kids.
The ride is going over the bridge and back and ends up at the Manukau road entrance to Big Boys Toys.
I think parking is organised for us too.

North Shore lot...

meet at Barry's Point road around 10.45, to leave 11 sharpish..

***WARNING ABOUT THE MEETING SPOT***
The usual spot has been fenced up, so there's no longer access to the big parking space that we all love (except when it's wet and we skid and fall over). There should still be plenty of room to park up, but just please be careful about pulling in/out of that area, and there's two shops that are open that have people wondering around that aren't looking at you (believe it or not), so just have your wits about you. If it really does get too crowded, then think on your feet and park across the road..

i had a query for the BMW guys, but due to size and questions it has been opened up. see letter below.

Peter

It was just going to be a BMW ride but I have had so many enquiries from other brand owners that I am seeing now how big it will get.

So come along. $16 per person & 12 pm sharp at BMW New Zealand, Pacific Rise, Mt Wellington.Proceeds to Cure Kids. I'd appreciate the exact cash as there will be a huge number of people there. That cash will get you a ticket to Big Boys Toys & you'll have a chance prior to speak to Charley. We are selling his DVDs at the BMW stand.

Thanks for your enquiry & kind regards

Yahoo, my lucky stars must be out 'cos I am able to attend tomorrow as a first outing to meet some other kiwibikers. How will I know who they are or will it be leathers off showing the kiwibike colors?? Look forward to meeting some of the people behind the handles. By the way, keep an eye out for my ride and flag me down. I promise not to be an embarrassment.

Yep it was a good ride and many thanks to the Bikey Cops who escorted us.

They were extremely professional in getting us through all the intersections in the Saturday traffic, and bloody good riders to boot !!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys

12th November 2005, 15:56
Yep the bikey cops were great...
Well done to the three cops getting us though the busy intersections as well.
The one that lead us over to the shore, is great at lane splitting at a decent speed. But like all good folks, we (the lead group) all followed him at the same pace.

Great to chat to Charlie Boorman as well... I chatted to him and asked him if he would like to get a group pic with the KBers.. He willingly agreed, and chatted to everyone from KB. A nice bloke.

Bugjuice, Postie amd MacD's partner (Linda ?) took some pic's and Postie also took a video of the ride. So looking forward to seeing them.

Charlie was rather good at doing the odd wheelie directly behind the bikey cop.... all caught on film. While the rest of us (ahem cough cough) all behaved ourselves

We all wandered around BBT and some of us went in different directions.
Caught up with Big Dave who was very busy chatting and selling a bike or two. Eventually caught up with SARGE and Cibby Chick at the Suzuki stand.

Checked out the bikes.... and the cars and boats... well a quick wander past the boats.

Yep they do have hotdogs, chips and drinks at BBT.
Oh and they have beer there... for free... and they all rushed over when that stall opened up... SARGE even got a drink of the FREE beer as well or should I say a mouthfull to swallow.

It was a great day.......  :2thumbsup

What a Great Day this was... I had no idea we were going for a mass ride over the bridge nor that we were getting a Police escort through town, nor that we were going to be paraded through the showground arena!

I had to beg the missus to come with me on the bike, (It ruins her hair & she can't wear her Jandals don't you know....silly moo) but even she had to admit she had a wicked time.

Great to meat Charlie, I watched the series back home in the UK and it totally inspired me to get on a bike.....

Top Bloke, I shamelessly got a Cheezy photo of me and 'The Borman' too which i'll send home to the Old Man and make him even more upset he has had to put his bike away for the british winter......

All in all a good day and a kickass ride to the BBT, really enjoyed the lap of honour (???) round the stunt arena although my bike was covered in dust when I left.

Here are some pics I took of the meet at BMW and the last two were at the Telstra Clear building on the shore.

I got to go to BBT for free. It was in the ambo.. even got to drive in "The Arena", picked up the guy that threw his CBR down the road during a stunt show. He busted his clavical (collarbone) and asked if he wil be ok to stunt tommorow.. ummmm NO.

So in the evening session Kiwi Rider's own 'Stretch' jumps on the guy's blade and does us proud. Huge wheelies stoppies rolling burn outs and a tyre poppin' performance. he da man.

ok, a few shots of my contributions.

What an awesome day. Really enjoyed myself and the turn out was pretty good. Charlie is an awesome top dude (cha, like we didn't know already), and had a heap of fun working my way thru the crowd on the SH1 up to the front where Postie (on the back with a camcorder) and I found Charlie, so he started having some fun for the camera. Got some good wheelies in from Charlie, plus the footage gives a nice view of the scope of the turn out, and how cool it was to buzz thru traffic lights on the wrong side of the road - cos the cops told us to! bloody awesome. Then into the BBT arena. There's a fair bit of footage (about 40 mins), so I'll chop it up into sections when I get the chance soon, and also (if Spank wouldn't mind hosting it), might edit it into one big ride.

Anyone who didn't make it for whatever reason, shame on you!! You missed out on something a bit special that day. And a huge thanks to Spank, cos I know I wouldn't have done anything like this unless I had found this site.. So cheers dude! :niceone:
