Report in our local rag about the 3 young teens in the stolen car starting from Hamilton and ending spiked south of Hastings. 8 hrs covering 360km - this is an average speed of 45kph. Yet they are reported to have reached speeds of 130+kph and pursuit stopped. This being the case what must have been their median speed (slower than walking pace?)

yeah, but could have stopped for a smoke, or to get gas, or to do doughnuts in some junction..
the one that really got me was the murder the other week, where the car managed to get from Henderson (Auckland) to Tauranga in an hour and a half.. now that's a challange..

I read that in our rag too - started at 3am didnt it. Two 14 yr old boys and a 13 yr old girl from state guardianship. Stolen car, evaded two or three police chases. 8hrs is a long time on the go - surely they stopped for food, sleep and other mischief.
Does that help your math?
