You've taken the last 2 days of sick, crook as anything. Your 2 bikes lay in pieces in your garage. BOTH written off through no fault of your own.
A mate calls up and tells you he's coming around with a newish toy.

30minutes later your pillion, flying up the longest straight from Wellsford to Papakura on the back of 1000cc fireblade. Smorgen, YOU ARE THE MAN!!

My question is, what is the highest speed anyone has taken a 2001 Fireblade. Smorgen opened it up at the start of the straight before the Oteha Valley Road Turn off (the big straight that runs into a hill). I tried to take a quick glance at the speedo, (stupid I know), but my Helmet strap almost decapitated me. I've hit 260kmh in my old Mazda RX7, but considering the rider had to stop looking at the speedo come 240kmh (and I was on the back) I'm really interested in how fast we would have been going?

636 will get near an indicated 270, and I ran outta puff, not the bike (although surely it couldn't have been too far away!). The Repsol I was chasing can do a proven 278 over a flying 1/4. Prob 290+ top speed I'd say. No idea what the old blades do.

i'd say you were a wee bit over the speed limit there:blink: well on a naked bike my helmet doesnt try to decapitate me at 180k.....yes thats as far as i can get my bros up to but it is un-faired remember.....probably goes faster but i'm a pussy. i have done 220 as a pilion and my head didnt quite get ripped of when i looked.....nearly though:nono:

You were doing 324 kph - I was following behind,I was going to pass,but my bike topped out and you guys just ran away....sucks that my bike is so slow....

ahh - the nice thing about being a bus driver. you know it's there, and most of the time i ride with a smile just knowing it is :) (and just occasionally have to check that it still goes....yup, it does!)
