Today I went up to Taranaki and picked up my new bike. Its a '01 Triumph Tiger 900. I had been eyeing one up for a while, and hired one for a day while in Nelson recently to confirm that it "fitted". It is sooo smooth and comfortable and gets along quite well. It has the thumbs up from the pillion too. Has heated grips and Scott-oiler and topbox.
Had Jap and German bikes, now giving the British a go

Tried out a few bikes over the last few months, including some sprotbikes and cruisers but the Tiger gives me the right mixture of comfort and performance and an ability to take on any road surface in the country.

Now anybody interested in a BMWF650 Adventure/tourer type bike? see ad or pm me.

While that photo was taken in NP I actually picked up the bike from Stratford in a private sale. Actually I was thinking of calling you to check it out for me but in the end went myself and was on a bit of a time budget.
Liked your write up in KR too - well done

Thanks Simon. I tried out a few sportsbikes but my best pillion wasnt comfortable on the back and I need my licence for work so the Tiger was the better option. We want to go and do a bit of touring this summer so this bike should be the bee's knees

Congrats on the Trumpy, may it bring you years of *reliable* happiness! :spudbn:

Yeah, having a good back seat and enough ponies to haul pillions was a big part of the decision

The Ginjaninja wouldn't have liked it, it's not a GSXR:devil2:

Sorry we missed you but it is a nice bike.

Today I took the new beasty out on the roads I am familiar with. Up over Paekak Hill, over Haywards and over the Takas to Martinborough. And I am still smiling. Altho it is a tall bike, and a bit heavier than my old one, it handles the twisties really well. Cornering - despite the tall seat, I could hang out the side like a sprotbike, or sit up and throw the bars down like a trail bike. The tall riding posi means I can look over the top of cages and get a good view of the road ahead.Suspension soaked up all the rough bits and the roadworks at Kaitoke were treated with distain. A very comfortable ride. The power dials on very smoothly and there is enough of it to keep me happy. It was really windy in the Wairarapa and going over the 'Takas but I was barely being moved at all. This thing sits on the road really well. And the first time I did Kapiti - MB - Kapiti and not have to stop for gas
Roll on next weekend!
