View Full Version : Is this suite worth the money?

How much do you think this suit is worth and is it a good one? At the moment I only have non-leather protective gear but I understand that decent leather gives better protection.

Anyway this suite looks to be my size.

A suite, eh.
Is it comfy and is it a three seater or just a 2?
Will it fit in your lounge?

...nah - if it's a Spidi - normally pretty good quality.About 1600 new I think

That's because suite and suit are two different words.

And the hump on the neck is purely for aerodynamic effect over 200km/hr. You can push your back up, smooting the airflow over bike and rider so that the air breaks away from bike and rider in a smoother fashion with less vortices and therefore less drag. Also the further away from the bike the airflow departs from your wake, the less drag. The hump smoothes the airflow over the helmet and onto the rider's back.

Wish I bought my Spidi gear for that price.

You wouldn't normally get either the jacket or the trou for $500. If it's reasonably current and it's "unscuffed" It'd be worth a look at least.

Quasievil is selling leathers.

I'm not sure if he does 1-Piece race suits, but he sells jackets and pants. Look for his thread.

At the moment I only have non-leather protective gear but I understand that decent leather gives better protection.

I haven't seen any comparative tests recently, but I'd suggest that some of the [better] non-leather suits give as good, if not better protection than a lot of the [average] leathers out there....

An acquantance recently binned with his missus on the back. His leathers were all torn up, while her non-leather gear was all good. Horrible that, they should have been around the other way - I'd much rather picture his missus in leather than him.....

$270 for jacket + $270 for pants. I've just brought a set off Quasi and am very impressed with it. Suggest you check out his thread for pics and details, at $540 for a new 2 piece suit you can't go wrong!

If you are going to buy leather, and want it to be better than the non leather you ahve then you need to spend serious money. I have seen leathers that fall apart at the seams. Spidi are a very good brand. I bought Dianese 2 piece suit from Cash Converters for $300 which was a steal. I ahve now sold them to Dangerous, but the were a fantastic deal for a top quality brand. Do nopt buy really cheap new leathers as they may not have the good quality leather or stitching.

Be careful with the whole size thing, I wouldn't agree that a size 56 would fit someone 6'1". what the hell does that mean, I'm 6 foot and I tried on a spidi 2 piece that fitted and it was a size 52. So the first thing i'd do is bail down to the nearest bikeshop that sells spidi (or alpinestars) and try on a size 56. Badly fitting leathers are as much use as tits on a bull.

also stops your helmet from contacting the road... (I know...)
