That, beyond all doubt, is THE best Honda I have ever seen. A vast improvement on their previous models.

Otherwise condolences to the owner. BTW, the above was a piss take. Hate to see in any bike like that.

CONDOLENCES TO THE OWNER! but being a honda blackbird & seeing it's been cremated in a sense it does bring thoughts of the Phoenix! (the mythical bird that rose from its own ashes). might be an idea to push at Honda for a new model design?

IVE OWNED ABOUT 5 NEW SUPERBIKES AND NEVER GET THEM INSURED

there will come a day just like this post's topic that you'll wish you had !!!!!

imagine if the bike was the likes of MV Agusta F4 or a 996 senna ducati etc

even the blackbird, what is it a 98 or 97 so its $13 -$14k thats a fair amount of coin to go up in smoke for the sake of a few hundred bucks security!

of course a bike is just an inanimate object without being ridden, just the same as a car, or a house, their all just material things that don't bring you or give you your health. but i bet your house is insured as is your car. the fact is though what would be the case if you piled your bike into say a $50 -$100k car and it was your fault ? you'd be in the crying room then coz the repairs would be coming out of your pocket as well as repairing your own bike!

it doesn't have to full insurance to cover your ass, even third party insurance can save you unnecessary headaches & grief.

insurance doesn't have to be expensive it just depends on where & who your with ( with my own bike my insurance costs me $260 per year full coverage on an agreed value & excess is $250 for any claim). and i've been through the cost of insuring large capacity exotics when i was young & been almost bled dry through it but for the sakes of peace of mind towards any possible scenario that could of happened the expense is a small price to pay. ( imagine the cost of insuring a Laverda 1200 when your only 19 mmm, put it this way my excess was over $1300)

Thing is, insurance is basically gambling - you're betting with the insurance company that you will crash, and they are betting that you wont. They carefully look at the odds, like a bookie, to make sure that in the long run the house wins - that enough people pay lots of premiums and never crash to cover the ones who do crash.

So what are the odds that you will crash? In the case of WINJA, apparently pretty good =P So even if your excess is half the price of the bike, insurance is still going to save you money and you may as well get it. Unless of course, they look at your record and say "no way are we betting with this guy, bugger off to a different insurance company". Thats would be a sure sign you want insurance - they have basically admitted that the odds are with you.

Way I see it, the only way you would start wasting insurance money is if you start driving like a nana and never crash. :hitcher:

16 k bike insured with AA costs me $800-00 a year. Dunno about your misses, but mine would be livid if I did not insure it. Besides, I don't know how much you get paid by the hour, but thats still alot of hours work...
My condolances to crazy steve. I come up north regularly in my hilux, if there is any parts needing to be brought up Ive got room and no there is not enough room in it for Zed's bike.

YEAH YOUR RIGHT , I DO HAVE THIRD PARTY ONLY

Ixion
14th November 2005, 10:58
I also have only TPFT on bikes and cars. I calculate I've saved many thousands of dollars over the years, and have a fund sufficient to replace any vehicle that I crash .

As someone said, it's a bet. If you think you are really more likely to crash than the insurer thinks, accept the bet(take insurance). If you think you are less likely, don't take it. Doesn't really matter what teh doallrs are, the insurer has already factored that in.

marty
14th November 2005, 10:58
yeah? i couldn't get 3rd party for the bike - only public liability. it was $5 a week for the busa.

.

i'd check that TPFT on the bike - none of the insurers would do it for me. only public liability
