View Full Version : Danger and stupid people

I cut this out of the paper many years ago and it still holds true today:
Sir, I was recently amused to discover what might be the answers to a great deal of the world's problems, in a quote from one L A Bulls of Phoenix, Airzona. Your readers may be interested in the far-reaching implications of his words.
"Every day, some new do-gooder is trying to save us from ourselves. We have so many laws and safety commissions to ensure our safety that it seems nearly impossible to have an accident. The problem is that we need accidents - lots of them.
Danger is nature's way of eliminating stupid people. Without safety, stupid people die in accidents.
With safety, however well-intentioned it may be, we are evolving into half-witted mutants, because idiots, who by all rights should be dead, are spared from their rightful early graves and are free to breed even more imbeciles.
Let's do away with safety and improve our species. Take up smoking. Jaywalk. Play with blasting caps. Swim right after a big meal. Stick something small in your ear. Take your choice of dangerous activity and do it with gusto. Future generations will thank you."
Ian M S Barraclough, Whitby.

Thoughts please!

For some strange reason I thought this thread was calling me. I can see why now.

You can't stop the idiots, but the blame system is all wrong these days. There was a case a few years ago where some guy cut his fingers off or whatever.Investigation had proved that the employer had given the approriate training, fitted safeties to the machines, warning signs and had an ongoing program to continue training and machine inspection - he had done all OSH asked and more. But they still found him guilty of neglegence and gave him a wopping fine - their theory - he should of known that the opperators would bypass the safeties...duh.

Idiots are commited in their cause,we need to help them, not deter them!

I'm in total agreement. The gene pool needs refining. Every idiot needs to ask himself what he can do for his species.

I have been trying to kill myself for years. Falling, drowning, explosions etc.
Looks like you are stuck with me. :bleh:

I believe that all road rules should be banned, everyone should be armed & the prisons should be emptied. I support any actions that would result in fewer cages being on the road.

They crash him, and his body may burn,
They smash him. But they know he'll return,
To live again.

Hey, I know that guy! Lives in the Kapiti these days...
He deserves an honourary doctorate or something.

Regulate all you like....the true idiot will never bow to such draconian oppression. Besides, laws are only made to be tested/broken. Aren't they?

i've always said "the gene pool has no lifeguard".
there are no accidents - it's called NATURAL SELECTION.
the challenge is to live long enough to skew the progress of evolution.
