Well the CB125T we bought in September has almost been transformed into a bucket racer, B.O.S (Bucket of Shite) Racing Team is born. Just a few last minute sort of touches left.
As the Auckland season has finished and is not due to start up in February, I was wondering if anyone knows of some isloated area in Auckland where the bike can be run tested. It is not just to ring the things neck out, more just to get a few k's on it, see how it corners etc etc. Is there any deserted car parks (someone mentione Ellerslie Racecourse CarPark during the week), or an Empty Cul de Sac on a Sunday for example that might be suitable?

hey if you gots some cones and tape from nz safety, you could set up like you were allowed to be there, and bullshit the council or anyone else that you had 'permission' to be there!

I thought that perhaps Hobsonville or Whenuapai Airbase (which ever one is not in use) could be the go? Or are they both still being used?

Hobsonville is just a grass runway and the "roads" if you can call them that, are in a bad stste of repair and full of speedbumps...
Whenuapai is still being used by our air farce.

If ya want to try Unitec then beware of the security guys... and also all the cameras around the campus...
The security guys have a good link with the :Police: so be careful if ya do!

hobsonville airbase is still a military base, just that there are only two workshops and a few office buildings left. The marine park thing hasnt happened yet, if it ever will.
I can get you in there if you want, there are some decently twisty(ish) roads over the back by the arms depot. Send me a PM, if you can trailer it over i can take you to the roads and 'escort' you while doing your business...
god thats sounds wrong

Cheers Frosty, to be honest I was looking at somewhere legit, being the law abiding type that I am. I thought about scooting around the carparks at work, but having 24hr surveillance and sercurity staff, it wouldn't last long. Damn OHS, :oi-grr:
The go kart track would be ideal, and might ask if it can be hired out, there may be a few others here who might be keen.
Otherwise Gareth the airbase sounds like a good option. The CB fits in the back of my mates MPV so transporting is no worries.
Its just a shame that the bike was 1 day late in being ready to practice on the Saturday. Also February seems such a long way off.
How do the rest of you guys get along in the 'off' season?

BTW Frosty, I don't know if you recall this, but this was the ad on Tardme.
This is how it looks now, still a wee bit to do but not too much.
