Preferably Auckland, but I'll consider anything in the North Island.
Good condition, lowish k's or recent engine work.

There's one with a rebuilt engine on tardme in Greymouth, still a long way to go but a lot closer to you than to me.

You might also want to consider the Kawasaki KR150. Very similar

I own a KR150F (2001), it looks heaps different to the older KR's. I saw an older KR (1990's) the other day and it was ugly as a mofo I would have to agree. I have a picture of my bike as my avatar but its blurry as hell, check out this pick its much clearer and identical to mine...

Have to agree about the tyres... there so damn skinny too! Im currently looking at getting a new back tyre, what do you use on your RG?

well i no longer own the Rg and it used to have slicks on it, but i would reocommend and good quality Dunlop/perilli tire they are just about slicks with grooves and work really well :)

Shit, that's a good deal! I managed to get mine down to $2000 and it had 20K on the clock as well as being a 2001.
