wondering what the demand out there if any for a medium/slow paced road ride for learners and or beginers, to mingle with more experinced riders, at the above mentioned slow pace.
a cruise out west on the open roads. not exceeding 100kph. with all 250's and smaller welcome.
and wanna know if there are any experienced farts that want to help out getting some newbies up to speed with skills and experience on open roads. and just a general get together.
so if anyone is interested post away of message me.
summer is coming lets keep it safe out there and help others.

i have been a dumb cunt too in the past, and i still can be. but just trying to keep them alive. and teach them a few good points hopefully. so i guess its aimed at people with little experience whom can hadle open roads just. and it gives them a chance to ride in a group and how to ride in a group.

I'm sure Indy would be too.

Appreciate the idea and I would be a starter - my partner (Sarg) is happy to come along and provide added guidence and support. Been on a few KB rides but only 2 up, so looking forward to the day I can ride alongside with confidence and ability !!

excellent the numbers are growing. there is an interesting point. "L" plates on or off and do we need to keep at 70kph. any biker cops want to comment on this? on the quiet that is pm me any pointers.
i am sure i will hear the obvious 'THE LAW IS THE LAW"
maybe a ride with a few motorcycle police along for the ride " no tickets" we could learn alot.
but i hope to plan a ride soon, and also looking for experienced riders.
and not looking for any bad habits.
you know who you are :)

John Banks
15th November 2005, 23:18
Looking at it, the 70km/hr restriction is open road specifically, not motorways. Am I right? Could that change anything about the course?

Seems most beginners/250&under arn't that interested in rides.
There's heaps here and writing in uber large text that a ride is learner friendly doesn't pull them out of the woodwork.

well i got to try. i don't want to be just sitting on my ass doing nothing.
and it is experience for them. some rides organised by members are bloody fast rides. and with accidents happening, which i am sure were caused by riders going past their limits. or riding past the conditions.
i want to tone it right down, and get them used to riding in groups, and also build up their confidence on the open road. with so many experienced riders out their to lend a helping hand and advice the learners might just come out for a fun day riding. and meet some cool KB's

Hey all,

Sounds like a good idea, i'll be in for a spin, show L Platers how to share lanes & pass other bikers on group rides. Once the ride is organised i'll try & get Dynamytus50 "L Plate Super Cop" :Police: along with us for any questions towards rules & regulations towards the police (depending weather hes healed & has a new bike by then) other wise i'll throw him on the back of my bike & drag him along for ya.

Sounds good all, will be waiting for the date & place :)

I would be interested in a ride that is suitable for a Nana like me
(Depending on the date).

Sounds like the emphasis would be on safety and fun so that's good.

At this stage I find I prefer to stay in a traffic que rather than try to get tricky filtering or squeezing to the front at lights. I prefer to stay with the flow of traffic rather than overtake if I don't need to but I am happy at open road speeds up to 100km if conditions are good.

If that's cool, count me in.

yep it will be a nice steady slow trip. nothing over 100kph. and porbably alot of pit stops for everyone to catch up. to make sure we stay together.
there will also be a few experienced riders along to offer assistance and to show the way so no one will get lost.
i have ideas for roads but any suggestions would be appreciated.

I disagree. PF's ride a couple of months back pulled in 50-odd bikes.

There was also a specific 'training' ride last summer down 22 that pulled in 30-40 bikes.

Hardly small numbers. However, both those rides were organised and a date set well in advance, so people had plenty of time to get their shit together and pull themselves out of the woodwork.

Set a date, and they will come.

P.S. I'm interested, but only if the date suits.

as its coming into the silly season it will either be mid december or mid january. they both suck, january is looking better. hell might just do both months, a learners ride in each.
it will only be a fairweather ride. any rain no go.will be delayed.
tomorrow i will post a date and time for all.

I enjoyed the ride you organised!! . Though it would have been good to see more 250s and more than 3 L plates!!

I'm always keen to do more rides, but again depends on the date etc.

It's good to push the boundaries, else you don't learn, but even though you're supposed to ride at your own pace, it's hard to not feel guilty about keeping the group waiting.....

Your idea's good. Hope it's well supported. When you organise your ride, I'll be there!!

the dates at this stage will be the 11th sunday or the 18th of december. so hope you all get your christmas shopping in before hand.

we will be meeting at several different points. i will be leaving from south ak, into central, out west and onto the shore. where we can meet and pick up people along the way.

the ride will mainly be north of auckland. heading to warkworth and taking several back roads or limited speed roads. there will be a few open roads aswell. hoping to make several stops along the way for regrouping, i will post the maps closer to the time as i will be doing a test run through the route to be taken on the day.

depending on numbers of learners and willing helpers, maps will be given out and put into smaller groups with leaders. so if the larger group is broken up there will be people who know they way and you can follow.

speed will be under 100kph. nothing over. and it is a learners ride slow pace, here to help getting newbies out on the road and to get new KBers together.

but remebr ride at your own pace. i can't stress that enough we will wait it's ok. its not a race. but if your turning up on a 50cc scooter i might have something to say. remember open roads.

and if ya crash you can't sue me. so make sure you ride safely as your in a group and ride at your own pace please. safety is a huge concern.

and if the weather looks crap we aint going. so look carefully at the post on the morning or ring me number will be posted. a slight drizzle might be ok.

more info will be posted at a later date. so who is happy with those dates? and who's coming, and could all experienced riders whom want to lend a hand PM me please. will need a hand organising and preping and taking the group. who can help with what? remeber PM me please.

thank folks.

sorry for all incovience, i did get out for a small run, and found with evidence that some roads were not learner friendly, and some due to rain. so more oads will be sought after for a january run. or possibly early new years ride.

Good to talk to you aff-man and SuperDave - we seemed to spend an eternity waiting. Good to also talk to those other groups of riders, the BMWs, Buells etc and the pair on the VTR250 and SV650S.
