The 532 chain for my RF is $409... can you believe that sh@t!
it's cheaper to buy a complete kit (sprockets & chain) in a 530 for $287

I might just buy a new bike instead...

Hey Wayne.

Word on the RF list is you'd have to be a bloody mug to put a 532 on.

Go the 530.

Moto Mart advertise a 530 conversion set in their catalogue. I'm sure you could find something at an even sharper price if you look.

Just make sure you dont be too cheap and buy a shitter that will break and do a lot of damage to your cases. Stick with oring at least and solid bishes not rolled.

Good point dude.

From memory the one that Moto Mart were advertising (530 chain + both sprockets) was an O-ring chain. X-ring would be cooler but they didn't offer it. Not too sure why. Surely the chain would be a similar length to a GSXR1100. Though maybe it's a bit longer.

Does anyone else know if there's a decent 530 conversion with an X-ring chain for the RF900?

The kit I was looking at was an o-ring, RF has factory 110 links I think

The Motomail catalogue lists both a DID and an RK 530 X-ring conversion kit for the RF900. Give them a call for an up to date price (0800 MOTOMAIL (http://www.motomail.co.nz/)).

My RF had the conversion done before I bought it.

word on the street is that you should convert to shaft drive. You get 110 + horsepower extra and the chicks dig it ..... :blip:

Slightly off topic, but what are the advantages of going to a different sized chain?

Lower cost and you save weight. Modern 530 chains are plenty strong enough

on my YZF I plumbed for a 520 setup from 532. Why? Saved 1 & 1/4 kg of spinning weight & if it is good enough for a racing GSXR1000 then should be ok for my 750.

Word of warning I spent the extra & got Afam sprockets (ally rear, steel better for wear, but top dollar ally ones are worlds better than cheap ally) & DID Xring chain.

I know you arent asking, but I'll tell you anyway...
I got an RK 530, RX-Ring Chain. for $140 for the VFR. Not the size you are talking about but seemed way cheaper than anyone else was offering.

It's fitting those damn belts that's expensive, that and the breakages that always happen at the back of nowhere.

I hear they amusingly fire themselves at the people following you, which has got to be funny as all hell, but then you are unable to make a getaway:lol:

Hope this helps bro:
chain = DID 530 Gold X-ring, 110 links
front sprkt = 15 tooth (tried a 14th for a while;but original seems more suited overall)
rear sprkt = 43 tooth
both sprkts alloy
got it off Busters : www.busters-accessories.co.uk
got a mate in London to send it on for me; couldn't believe local prices here in NZ! we're being ripped off in so many ways, but you only realise once you've travelled/lived overseas.

Mostly weight.. lighter chain lighter sprockets, trade off is more strech less strenght

Slightly off topic, but what are the advantages of going to a different sized chain?

Weight, and especially friction losses. Puts more power to the wheel.
