I've noticed that the 2006 CBR1000RR comes in 2 price ranges. The Repsol bikes are a few grand more expensive than the black, red and grey models.
Does anybody know what extras you get for your money?

Also, The Suzuki 2006 GSXR is 23 grand new, by far the most expensive of the two.
Can people here please provide me with good hard facts about which bike is better and why?
I'm wanting a bike for pure performance, road and trackdays too.
I've heard the Honda has fabulous steering and suspension.....But the Gixxer has the speed.

Honda has been said in Mag's to be the Starting point of the 1000cc bike's were as the GSXR is the End when you want the best . Honda's fork's are not very good Robert Taylor from Ohlin's shop has told me they do steer very well better than a K6 I don't think so . Try all 4 1000cc bike's & buy what you feel you need . If it is Pure Performance then ZX10R GSXR1000 are the only 2 really to look at . :blip:

You've got alot to hope for! Coz Suzuki has already fronted up with the goods. Could easily be too much of an ask for Kawasaki.

same thing happined on 04 when the zx10 came out and blew the gsxr/r1/cbr into the weeds....it'll happen....and besides kawasaki dosn't do refined....and thats what I like....thats why i have a TL

at the end of the day....in most cases it'll come down to personal prefference....on the road and at trackdays it has more to do with rider ability than what litre bike your on...only really top riders will ever extract the last tenths these bikes are capable of....

ZX-10R test diary update
MCN Editor Marc Potter is in Japan for a world exclusive first ride of the 2006 Kawasaki ZX-10R.
Marc’s trip includes two days of riding on Kawasaki’s own test track, a tour of the company's factory, dinner with some of Kawasaki’s top men and a question and answer session with the ZX-10R development team.
He's sending back a daily diary during his trip to give you a unique insight into what goes into making an MCN world first test exclusive.
Latest: Tuesday Nov 15:
We drove about an hour to get to the circuit, passing through an amazing flat valley surrounded by active volcanos. As we went up into the mountains, it looked like Yorkshire, but with active volcanos. And then we were at the vast Autopolis circuit which was bought by Kawasaki last year.
It was where this ZX-10R was developed and it's a mad circuit - you go round an off-camber lefthander and then the circuit just drops away on you.
My initial impressions from the first session are that the riding position is still radical, they've developed an even more hardcore track bike. But the power delivery is a bit more friendly. The old bike had all the power at the top like a two-stroke, but the new ZX has more linear power.
I think it might be faster than a GSX-R1000!!

Who the hell cares if one is a poofteenth quicker over the 1/4 or does .8 km/h faster. Buy the one that rings your bell.

That's quite true really, the differences are going to be quite small when it comes to track speed unless you are like ghostrider 10... only problem would be if your wallet was unable to ring it for you

Me too. You can't get more underdog than a Bandit. But then I like corners more than warp speed straight line runs.

Don't suppose anyone can tell me if Yamaha has an R1 in the pipeline that can compete? I like the bragging rights idea, but bragging is about all I could do with a litre bike. I like our local Yamaha dealer, so would prefer to put my money with the fellas I like...

Wait for it ........ You get an extra sticker kit of Repsol sponsors that get applied to the lower fairing. Also I believe there is a rear seat cowl.

For the road you will have to find out which you like the best. 2006 CBR's come out in March. They are different to the 2005's

Have fun.

Basically the repsol fireblade is just a stock standard fireblade, just with the repsol paint scheme. The price difference is merely for the paint job. I laughed when I found this out at the local dealer, but I see that people are still buying them @ two and a half grand just for the paint! Can't see the point really, I reckon the paint scheme on my 600 is better, but obviously others think otherwise:blip:
