Howdy all,
My last post about the bloody VTR I promise. I'm thinking about taking the plunge on a late model 2nd hander from down the line slightly, but on the test ride I noticed a couple of neutrals shifting from 1st to 2nd. Is this a common problem with these bikes, should i avoid this one, or am i incompetent to ride anything other than a deranged slug.
If any owners can comment then you'd certainly help finalise my decision.
Muchos thankos.
PS - slugs need not apply.

talk to the vifferman about the honda smashboxes....and it's a clutch, not a crutch - don't fuck it.

about your riding history or the history of that bike, but it's not a complaint Dangerous ever had of his 03 (?) VTR. Compared to the suzi his clutch was knotchy as all hell but the shifts were fine....
Could be your technique or the individual bike.

Don't know the history of the bike, it looks tidy enough but I guess that's not necessarily a sign it hasn't been wheelied non-stop. As for my history, apart from being very sordid I've not had any problems in the past with GS500, CBR600, a day on a blackbird and a couple of test rides on SV1000s'.
Combination of fanging it both clutch & crutchless, plus one instance at slow speed. Unless there is a particular problem or special technique with the storm I starting to think it might be the bike.....

I Had that issue with my CBR400RR, solution use less clutch.
With the VTR, I have had no problems at all.

Nup.
But a FactoryPro EvoStar Shift Kit (TM) will.
Oh yeah, ScumKiller2 (sounds like a brand of bathroom cleaner...) - there's another potential problem I forgot to mention: grabby crutch/clutch.
On some bikes (especially mine), if you take off with lotsa revs, the clutch bites/slips/squeals like a pig/grabs/slips and generally misbehaves.
You can fix this by replacing the springs and/or plates, or just take off more gently and wheelie the bike after you're moving.

My old SP-1 used to slip out of gear, then slip while in gear. Apparently the barrel, selector and two gears were shagged. Be wary.

LOL - Nice one. As in, "I got a call from Aunt Regina, she's cleaning out....."
It's actually a piss-take of the Charles Bronson - Deathwish movies, taken from an episode of the old Alas Smith & Jones TV series.
Man I feel old now.....I need a drink.
:drinknsin
Thanks for the advice, am going to take for a second test-ride.

Yes.
All Honda gearboxes are shit. I've clicked over 127,000 on mine, it's still the same, so nothing to worry about.
